Vega Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

pad? with chun? with all cr.lk comboing into EX Legs? Madness I say! Madness!!! But with Ultra two, hot damn, that match up got harder.

But yeah, it makes sense you do have to learn to defend more. But taking and extra 10% damage to deal Sagat like damage in SF 4. Sounds like a deal.

Although not a question on how to play Vega, I thought it would be better asked here.

During online play, I’m seeing several Vegas who rely solely on constantly jumping back, spamming fierce. FBA -> claw to get outta corner, or just spam for cross-up. Backflip on wake-up. Mash out ultra on wake-up. It’s not a veteran Vega who’s cleverly abusing the fact that I don’t know the match-up well, but it’s a Vega version of scrubby flowchart Ken.

I can really appreciate a well played Vega that smartly controls space and thoughtfully whittles away at my HP. A good Vega is such a beauty to behold, but these guys aren’t that. They just get me so irritated.

So I ask your help, Vega players of SRK. What is a good way to combat a scrubby Vega? More specifically, how do I catch a runaway Vega?

if u know he will try to escape with FBA you can punish it every time,at least try to predict them,backflip can be dashed into and grabbed,otherwise its character specific how to fight vega at the whole

I usually play my vega like that online to test the waters haha
if they are susceptible to it i abuse it… if they start learning how to adapt to it i change my game to the well thought out and spaced out vega lol (not that mine is any good lol)

A panicked Vega will trips punches or kicks lots when you knock them down. In the corner, this is suicide. Fullscreen some characters can punish it even if they meaty an attack and prepare themselves for the backflips. FBA can be odd to deal with, but it has startup, which makes it difficult to actually get off for Vega when cornered. Barring that, try to early air to air him when you see the FBA or the walljump. Honestly, despite the buff to EX ST, Vega still has no stellar reversals and will have to deal whatever you throw at him, which means if you step into training mode and figure out some good meaties and the general recovery time / punish on backflips you’ll probably be able to handle bad Claws a lot better when you knock them down.

Could someone direct me to some videos or pages in a thread that talk about his Ultra 2 and possible setups? Thanks!

Anyone else find it kinda gay that EX mask toss is 2 meters and Angry Scar is 1. I mean c’mon

only real setups right now are from:
Anti Air CH
Very Far CH
Anti Jump in
Wakeup when someone wants to try and attack your wakeup
Anti Fireball at Mid and close screen
After a Deep jump in HK/HP

The others would be more of a gimmick, like doing it after a blockstring or high attacks

Those Vega’s are fucking garbage. i played one and he irritated the shit out of me. I literly lost all composure and fucking lost the game. I then proceeded to fight him twice again, and i simply walk jump in and proceed to raped him perfecting him. Simply walk up to them jump in and begin to mash the fuck out of your strings and pressure them. Once in the corner they are fucking gone, absolutely nothing that they can do. Against players like that, they slit their own throat because they walk themselves into the corner. And dont fear Vega’s reversal. If he is doing ST simply meaty that bitch, put him in the corner and jump in for free.

But against a smart player dont do that; that shit it aint so free.

I thought mask toss is now 1 stock?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe a traded FBA combos into U2 as well. (Focus crumple is obvious, but the good news is you also have all day long off the crumple to combo into it.)

Is there a list of moves Vega can punish with SC or does it have a different more practical use other than punishing? I read somewhere it goes tru fireballs, the timing must be similar to Chun Li’s Hosenka because I always end up getting hit by the projectile.

Same as before. What ever direction you hold will bring you there. Default i think is either your wall or the closest wall.

The EX can go through Fireballs if you do it at like point blank. It is prolly best used to end a jump in combo or do catch someone trying to jump away or jumping from far. It’s good against gief since it punishes most of his moves, but don’t rely on it as an AA or reversal.

No, theres a way to control the angle now, isn’t there?

So how do you guys like ST as a AA now, or as a move now. I swear its working wonders for me. The new improved hit box is god. Im now either winning air encounters or im trading, which is not so bad because you reset the distance between the opponent and you. Also do any of you use cr.lp xx hk.ST as a punisher? Its good damage sets up the knockdown, builds ton of meter, is good stun, and pushes the opponent closer to the corner.

I think we are talking about 2 different things, you probably misread my post since I was refering to his ultra Splendind Claw (SC), hence my comparison to Chun Li’s Hosenka (Ultra 1).

i dunno… havent’r eally used it much since i’ve got way too many bad experiences whiffing some form of canceled into st and resulting in me losing the game… classical conditioning i tell you… makes us all do strange things : )

Thx Sazaki, that was awesome, it’s taking some time to apply it to my games… charging characters with no proper AA is definitely difficult to get used to… lol

Another thing, why does it seem like RCF cancles are harder than ST and FBA cancles? Charge timing difference?
I can get stuffs like j.hk, c.mk xx ST and j.hp, s.hp, c.mp xx EX FBA really easily, but when it comes to RCF, i’ve seen so many videos of vegas doing j.hk, s.mp xx RCF… I’ve NEVER done it… zomg it’s hard… anything different with this cancle? I’ve already being holding b as soon as i jump, but i still can’t cancle it. :zzz:
