Vega Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

Good news, everyone!
I’m testing auto-correct roundhouse ST in training mode and getting it to trade with/beat Ryu’s mk cross up. When it trades, there’s enough time to link EX ST before he lands. I’ll be testing it with other characters to see if I get similar results.

On another note, I’m able to do far short * 3 -> crouching strong punch against Ryu. Not sure if it was known before, but just putting it out there.

Edit
Alright, it works with Gen’s cross ups so I’m just going to assume that it works with most atm. >_>
It does the same damage as short ST -> EX ST when it trades, 210 damage. Either 160 damage or 185 damage on counter hit when it lands cleanly.

if by far short * 3 -> crouching strong punch you mean st lk --> cr mp then yes it will work on everyone I believe. However st lk --> cr lp --> cr mp is better to use but only works on most characters, and only when they are standing for some or only when they are ducking for others. This move is a good meaty to use after a throw and it gives you enough time to charge for a FBA. You could also do this move into EX FBA and cross up a RYU if you hit him with this as a meaty. Some other characters like sagat it will just combo into to.

as for the strong ST counter. Do see how reliable it is. The good thing about cr fierce punch is that you don’t have to charge so you could do it if you have no charge. The disadvantage is that it requires good practice to learn the distancing and timing, and you have to position yourself right.

Ah, I need to check out crouching fierce some more, then.

And for the far short * 3 -> crouching strong, I actually mean st lk -> st lk -> st lk -> cr mp. It’s like 160 damage or so. Can’t remember the exact number.

Yeah, but triple st.lk means you have to be in the PERFECT range, or it will not combo.
If you’re in that range, against tall characters you can even do triple st.lk, then link into st.rh.

Still, I use st.lk cr.lp, cr.mp a lot. Especially when I’m in throw range, or with my opponent being in the corner.
St.lk st.rh is also very easy. St.lk cr.hp… need to figure out the timing since it’s not coming out 100% atm.
I also like cr.mk cr.lp cr.mp.

if you are good with st lk–> cr lp–> cr mp, then just cancel the cr mp into FBA afterwards on certain characters like ryu if you are good with it. This can help alot in certain matchups.

Really, does it hit Ryu?

well i meant just normal FBA if you are good with getting an izuna, but at certain distances with EX FBA it will actually cross up a ryu and hit him, like in a corner.

What are all the possible uses of canceling rolling crystal flash? Right now all I can think of are focus canceling it for extra damage, or fadc for a throw, and I’m pretty sure it is super cancel-able for a terrible waste of your super.

Are there any other uses I’m missing?

-You could focus cancel it into a dash forward jump back fierce punch.

-You could combo into a cr lp–> cr mp–> EX FBA though there is a one frame link I believe.

-You could dash ultra, though they could block, but if they try to grab it will hit.

I think i saw in some video that you can combo cr.lp after FADC RCF but i never got it to work myself.

I have done it plenty of times, although my rate of success is still probably like 3/10 or 2/10

This doesn’t work with lp roll, right? I mean cr.jab after FADC

Meaty jab RCF gives you enough time to link a crouching jab combo afterwards. Should make the FADC after even easier, especially if it’s a counter hit.

Actually it can be done after the stab from any of the versions of RCF, however I am best with it by far with the lp RCF.

Yeah, I know about the stab -> FADC for any RCF. I meant a wakeup jab RCF, where the claw hits on the last active frame. Assuming the opponent doesn’t reversal out, it’s 0 on block and +4 on hit.

Also,an idea for EX FBA, Alexlkd. After seeing you cross me up with it countless times in mirror matches during combos, I’m wondering if we can cross up opponents on wakeup in a similar manner. Meaning, just doing the raw EX FBA and crossing up. I’m guessing that it would be similar to ultra cross up, but not as difficult.

Yes you can, although I prefer to save them since I prefer other wake up options.

My question is how many frames is Vega’s forward dash and back dash?

How does it compare to everyone else’s?

Wiki section should have all of that.

For dash comparison there is a useful table at eventhubs:
http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2008/oct/05/stamina-stun-dash-and-jump-rankings-street-fighter-4/

There is other stuff like stun and stamina in a nice table that includes all characters.

I doubt that everyone has the same amounts of frames on their focus attack. So I was wondering how many frames does Vega have in his and compared to everyone else?

linking cr.lp after a fadc’d rcf is extremely difficult, but when it becomes a “muscle memory” combo, its nice to have in your repertoire.
