Thanks for replying
Dictator (Bison) would definitely be an easier character for beginners : easy to hit-confirm normals, high priority specials, a lot of invincible moves…
The cons are he’s so good you don’t even need to know the match-ups to win… and knowing them will be important when going for high level play. But to start with, I think he’s perfect. =)
okay I’ll give him a shot!
hey everyone. i got a more advanced question. how do you chase ppl down but intelligently? i mean what exactly do you look for while trying to catch a person.
for example: match just started and you have a sagat player completely respecting you and just keeps jumping away. do you space to react to fireball or jump in or do you just try to get into st forward range. do you try to bait things or just do nothing til they open up.
I just started to learn vega and I have a question regarding his
cosmic heel into ex scarlet terror. How exactly do people do
this? Is it based entirely on reaction? I found it very difficult
to hit lowforward hk, charge back and hit confirm scarlet terror
Is there something I am missing? thanks
This will come naturally over time. With practice, you will almost always hold downback after a jump in or a CH, without even noticing. There really is no trick or something to do wrong. The charge time for ST is short enough that you have plenty of time to execute it before the opponent falls to ground.
As a beginners tip: the right time (assuming you immediately pressed down-back after the CH) to press forward + HK/ KK is as soon as you see Vega go into the crouching position after the Cosmic Heel.
CH–>ST with mk and lk is also possible but the timing is al lot more strict. Also it is not that useful, but maybe you want to show off
You mean, against a fleeing opponent ?
Well it depends, but usually a back-jump spammer will be easily knocked down by an izuna or an SHC. Useless jumps can all be punished by EX izuna, and then they’re free for safe-jumps or izuna loops.
Otherwise you can just walk in until they’re cornered, fleeing just won’t get the very far.
In other terms, I’ll chase/punish them. ^^
Just as The king ignored (hail !) said, this is an advanced combo an it’s mastery will come with experience.
Just a little trick that might help : doing Light ST juggle EX ST is a bit easier than CH into ST, but implies the same moves. So if you can get it consistently first, it will help you managing to CH ST in the future. =)
How do recovery frames work? What I mean is according to the SRK wiki, Fei Long’s LIGHT PUNCH REKKA (just one) is -4 on guard; and Guile’s flashkick startup (any) is 4 frames. Does this mean I could reversal the Rekka with the Flashkick OR would his Rekka have to be -5 then? THANK YOU!
-4 frames means that during four frames you could do nothing but recover, meaning that you can’t block either. So if your opponent has anything starting in 4 frames or less, you will be punished everytime.
However, there is a catch : if your move is cancelable, then you can cancel it before it would normally recover, and nail your opponent. The best example for this is Dudley cancelling an EX machingunblow into ultra. =)
Rekkas are cancelable into themselves (you can chain them) or into ultra/Super. So, if Fei does chain two rekkas while you’re fighting back, it could beat non-invincible attacks. It won’t beat invincible reversals though, and that’s why Fei-longs are more careful when fighting shotos. =)
Sorry so just to be clarify, a Flashkick COULD punish a lp Rekka then?
Yes, but not everytime.
That is because Fei is -4 only when he does rekka at point blank range, when he hits you at the first active frame. If he does it meaty, he will hit you at the second active frame and he’ll be -3, meaning able to block your Flashkick.
That said I don’t see why we’re talking about flashkicks into a Claw thread. X_X
^What version of SF4 are you playing…?
Are you asking me ? I’m on PC AE 2012.
Why were you wanting to know ? =)
It was a rhetorical question. No special can be cancelled into ultra, and Fei can’t super-cancel his rekkas. If you get tagged by an ultra and blocking an EX MGB from Dudley, it’s because you tried punishing it too late and he just mashed it out. It’s a great online gimmick, I’ve used it myself as well.
Are you sure about that ? So when DeeJay goes from super into ultra, how do you explain it ?
Right. I do not play Fei long myself, so it is possible i confused the beginning of the super with a rekka. My friends who combo into it use the same normals before it, so i thought it was a cancel. =)
Strange, I always thought some of his specials were cancelables. I’ll check this out.
not to be toooo late on this reply lol, but space in this game is extremely valuable. If they are going to give up space freely, then I am going to take it.
he goes from ultra to super. nothing cancels into ultra in this game. It must be linked. same for dudley. you must wait until the recovery ends in order for ultra to start. The closest to “cancelling” is viper sjc into ultra, but even then she must wait for the feint to end before the ultra will start
Dan must be the only exception then. Okay, my bad then. =)
When people focus the FBA is there a way to make Vega land behind the opponent or is it random ?
