What are some good resets after CH? I like to use C.LP, dash under, start another combo. is there anything better?
^ scarlet terror
don’t do resets. scarlet terror has better mixups, better everything.
I repeat: Do not do resets.
ST can cross over a knocked down opponent
thanks guys. Really useful link alex. I want to play super. I’m get withdrawal symptoms every once in a while. shaking, crying, drugs… that sort of thing lol.
@Mog - Yes, I still don’t know my match ups at all. That seems to be my main problem. I tend to change with my opponents personality. I’m still reading about the proper way to play Vega in certain situations, but I don’t get to play against other players anymore so its tough to learn which ultra i would fair better with.
^This! I am starting to grow very frustrated with BHC. I’ve lost quite a few high BP matches due to BHC getting stuffed by some weak ass move the opponent just happened to mash out. I like using BHC because I’ve got the FA > back dash > BHC down since Vanilla, but I’m starting to grow fonder of U2. There are still some match ups like Zangief where I stick with BHC, or if I’m fighting an opponent that I know loves to do cross ups.
i didn’t use start using splendid claw right away since it felt very weird and impractical to use, but at least with this move, even when i wiff it, it’s almost like a get out of jail free card b/c u recover and move quickly to the other side, thus giving u some room for positioning…i find it very hard to go back to the BHC b/c the overall advantages the splendid claw has over it…hell even the developers themselves said that the splendid claw is easier to use than the BHC and this was back in early development of the game…it’ll feel weird but trust me and everyone else who knows better, it’s worth it…
U2 is the ultra to go. Learn to buffer the motion, imo its one of the best ultra’s in the game, and its easy to land once you learn to buffer the input. Stops anything cute on Vega’s wake up. Makes people safe jump. anti-cross up, its easy to auto correct. punishes FA.
Remember buffering is key.
wrong ultra against Zangief.
Not in my case. I’ve been using it successfully against Gief players since Vanilla. With the Gief player on the other end of the screen I will do an empty wall dive towards the opponent but then hit back just out of reach of his hitzone (charging all the while). 9 times out of 10 this baits the player to hit Giefs lariat expecting you to complete a wall dive attack. This is when I hit U1. I’ve ended more matches against Gief this way then I can count.
Same can be done with Ultra 2. but to each his own.
I’m similar. I still use U1 far more often just do to increased damage. plus most people area dumb jump whores. i’ve become VERY good at reacting to either wall to nail someone airborne. I’ve also gotten to the point where i can almost reliably nail guile’s LP sonic boom from full screen with it. like pedo said. buffering is key.
vs gief i prefer U1 because of damage and most giefs will jump a shitload/spam lariat/greenhand from full screen so i rarely have a problem landing it. however against very good gief players (ie Vangief)… I use U2… because it’s the “safer” choice and it’s easier to land.
Can I get some information on buffering the SC?
just do the motion. the key is constantly keeping in check your charge count. Hiding the motion so the other player cant see that you’re buffering the motion. Like if you ever play Sagat crouch and buffer the DP motion so that you remain in crouch position. same concept. U1 not worth the damage by the way.
oh , i thought you had some trick to it.
Yeah, CH over low pokes into SC has helped me a few times if that’s the sort of thing you mean.
I saw Jozhear post this on Gamefaq’s I think:
After an EX FBA Izuna Drop , he said he does c.mp then J.hp as a safe jump, now try as I might, I cannot do this in training mode, has anybody got any trick or something to pulling this off?
my experience with u2 is the FA punishing power. My bro’s dictator isnt a bad one, and i can take a few games from him. He depends on ground rushdown to keep me in check cause he knows my links are 50% crap. I much would rather have u1 to punish his l.scissor kick pattern, but being a pad player, the Opposite wall BHC doesnt register 100% of the time… Something to do with my crappy thumbwork i guess. I can get it pretty easily most of the time.
U2: Great Escape option to have. DECENT dmg. Good range. Ultra high speed and great invincibility frames.
U1: GREAT Damage. Hits Full Screen, Good invincibility frames. and the option to choose which wall to fly on really gives you variables on height. IE: On vanilla back wall was the way to quick punish lower moves like psycho crushers.
I prefer U2 for more chars than u1, BUT i probably shouldn’t be saying much, since i never get to play anymore… T~T
No, thats not what i meant. i meant you stay perfectly still in the ground while doing the motion. so if they do something you destroy them.
Have you ever actually seen it in action? It’s fairly simple. I think Makoto does it with jump LK instead of HK because that move has more active frames (7, as opposed to 4). Anyway,
Need VANILLA HELP. I’m getting scrubbed. Maybe its my lack of skill, but when i play agaisnt my brother everything gets stuffed and mix ups dont work cause of the randomness… i need to PUNISH, i see these huge holes in between combos, but even ex ST wont come out. Is there a good punish for these gaps?.. im thinking its my execution cause for the life of me, i couldnt punish ONE FULLSCREEN fireball with ultra… it just goes ex fba or flip lol…
I also cant poke characters who spam jab on wake… Ones with spammable jabs that is… I find my block strings getting stuffed and lose my claws…
im even getting my CHK>c.Mp>Backside ex SHC mixup getting stuffed by wake up jabs.
I got a few fundamental problems i’d like to ask for help on: EX meter management and combos on sight. I watch the videos on here and you guys are really good at landing a c.mp and ex fba on what seems like reaction. I tend to get 50/50 results with that.
To end, I have one more question to ask: Can someone tell me its better in super? Please? I need a dream, I feel like im going to stop playing vega lol.
he’s only better because they fixed his wonky hit boxes, new ultra, everybody new hasnt been developed, and good characters got shafted real bad. You cant punish holes in block strings, best you can do is trade with HK.ST.
ch - cr.mp xx EX SHC is the worst thing you can do.
if your pokes are getting stuffed you are not spacing them right and you are not using the right one.
fundamentals will get you far vs scrubs. instead of going for the reversal… try going for the whiff. make him miss. bait that shit out and punish.
if your ultra input is coming out as flip output then you’re pressing KKK too late. if it’s coming out as EX FBA… you’re not finishing the ultra motion(or inputting the full ultra motion)… or you’re pressing KKK 1 input too early
poking people who spam jabs is usually not a good idea. use the range of your claw and do a LV3 FA that will just barely hit. after that connects have fun. you can also do a full range slide, random crossover EX Sky high claw, or say screw it back up and build meter. PoM might work in vanilla but iono. but like i said above… best bet is to bait something else out instead of going on the offensive.
as for reaction on sight… that’s called hit confirm. basically you continue the combo if your hit connects and you stop if it’s blocked. one way you can train that is by putting the cpu on random block and practice not pressing a button when your hit is blocked, and finishing the combo when it’s not blocked.
and yeah your situiations with vega in super are better. but it’s more about the nerfs almost everyone else got like pedo said.
yep… that’s tied with CH, HK
