Vega General Thread: The Masked Narcissist Enters The Tournament

Hi mates, here some stuff I saw when I was in training mode:
In corner : Crush counter HK, HP spin edge, V-trigger, delayed ultra
(most beautiful combo ever ! :smiley: )

Claw off : 2lk, st.lk, 2mp x mp/ex rolling
Claw off : 2hp counter anti-air = EX FBA, seems it doesn’t work that well with claw on, but with Claw-on we’ll do ex spin edge instead
Claw on and off : HK crush counter anti air = EX FBA

Seems the combo : (claw on) HP, switch stance, 2mp ex rolling… does 2 more damage than the same with EX FBA instead. And he can do a ex rolling from medium, so that hurts.

Claw off : HP counter , target mp hk x cancel
Claw off : HP, 2mp x
claw off : 2mk counter, 2mk, target mp hk x cancel
Claw on : 2mk counter, target HP

Does Vega have 1000 health in the current build? Saw a 509 damage combo and it looks to only do half of his health bar but the resolution is low.

To be honest, Capcom is behaving like amateurs. It’s like they’re just throwing things against a wall to see what sticks.

My best Crush Counter combo:

CH claw c.HP > s.HP xx switch > BH c.MP xx MK Roll

If have meters, cancel the BH c.MP into EX Barcelona, Trigger or Super instead.

466 dmg / 360 stun

Most damaging 1 bar combo:
s.HK, Matador Blitz xx EX FBA, Izuna Drop
308 dmg / 424 stun (358 dmg / 521 stun with jump-in)

Replace Izuna Drop with the slash and juggle afterwards with V-Trigger for:
364 dmg / 424 stun (399 dmg / 521 stun with jump-in)

While this is amazing damage, you have to keep one thing in mind. S.HK whiffs on crouchers. Only use these combos when they whiff something big to ensure they’re standing.

Also, same combos as above, just with CA.

s.HK, Matador Blitz xx CA
443 dmg / 304 stun (470 dmg / 421 stun with jump-in)

s.HK, Matador Blitz xx V-Trigger, CA
495 dmg / 304 stun (541 dmg / 421 stun with jump-in)

I am like 90% sure that his BH normals are actually faster than his claw normals. Definitely so for c.MP. S.MK combos into BH c.MP but not claw c.MP.

Oh, and claw s.MP also links into c.MP. A better option than linking into claw s.LP, as even though s.LP is special cancelable, any special move would whiff when canceled at that range.

And claw EX FBA slash, grounded or in the air, can juggle into EX ASE. All right, that’s enough of the beta for me tonight, heh heh.

Just going to add that (don’t know if it’s been mentioned here) you can HP, switch, lk, cr.mp ex FBA, m/ex roll.
ex FBA whiffs on certain ranges, so I’ve been rolling with…roll.

I see what people were saying about AA being difficut now, that struggle is real.

This is definitely a whole new Vega. I’m trying hard to unlearn SF4 Vega, this game doesn’t want me to wait for oppurtunities, Vega has to be really aggressive in this game, which is a playstyle I’m not used to. It’s gonna be a struggle.

HP aurora spin edge (claw only, moves him backwards to step out of range of jump in as well), Anti air V Trigger (d+HP+HK), Claw c.HP, s.HK, air throw and a couple neutral jump normals seem like best AA

If dodge into attack is safe on block then that might not be bad either. HP aurora into EX barcelona works well on trade so worth taking the risk as long as you trade. Seems to work on regular hit also but spacing is weird.

Anti air V Trigger is really good.

c.lk, s.lk, c.lp xx EX slash. works on crouching too

feel like st. lk into cr. mp isn’t gonna last…it’ll really suck if we can’t convert from st. lk from neutral. one of my favorite buttons.

S.lk, c.lp should always work

So I was testing landing neutral V trigger with claw on and I discovered a couple things. If the opponent is standing its easy after hitconfirms, my current favorite being cr.mk, cr.mp.

On crouching I found out that cr.hp has force stand properties so neutral vtrigger works. But since that move is also a crush counter then frametrapping into is requires a cc combo. The one I’m using is (cc) cr.hp, cr.mp xx Vtrigger, super. Simple I know but this is just the beginning.

I feel like his without claw mode is definitely the strongest of the two. I was kind of struggling in claw mode. I guess that’s more for playing keep away. The fact that his remove claw has the same animation as his v skill is godlike for setting up command grabs though, I really did like that.

Oh and a clawless bnb for anyone struggling - cr.lk, st.lk, cr.mp goes into - mk.crimson terror/ex fba/v-trigger.

cr.lk, st.lk, cr.lp, ex fba whiffs on Necalli but works against both Mika and Vega IIRC.

Outside of using it in the st.mp, st.hk target combo, is there any more ways to combo into his v skill?

That is what balance is. Just throw things out and see what work and fit what they are trying to accomplish
