I usually just parry any fireballs til they learn it won’t work. HK Tatsu also sails right through that shit if done with good timing. I don’t know if it was that good in IV but I’ve been using Tatsu to punish fireballs a lot.

It won’ t work well if you don’t read them right, mind you.

Would like to see Ryu his air tatsu do something interesting, as it is now, what does it do really… Atleast make it crossup.
Also would like ryu to have his donkey kick.

This shit confirms that this the story in SFV is post SF3.

So max range neutral jump tatsu into super isn’t a true blockstring sadly, they nerfed air tatsu HARD. St.mp is useless for pressure unless you’re going for frame trapstraps, as when I tested it he has no true blockstring other than canceling into a special, because he gets pushed back way farther on block than he does on hit for some reason.

Played against another solid Ryu who beat me and actually knew how to play the game on a technical level (not just jumping around and mashing jab into mixups to win). My inputs were super off that game somehow, I got dp instead of hado almost everytime, must’ve been the lag or something fucking with my inputs. He pushed my shit in for that, and he was good enough to where I couldn’t make a full comeback.

Even he agreed that Ryu needs to work harder to win than other characters, its like they designed him around parry and made everything else worse to compensate. Hopefully they fix some of his hitboxes and give me push back on hado, cus right now it feels like I have to completely out footsie my opponent, or just go ham with mixups and hope my reads are right. Just wish he was a little more solid is all, he’s decent but he needs better tools IMO.

Ok guy as promised. So in the 1st video I’m try to prove a point that if the opponent doesn’t quick rise they can’t escape a charge hadoken. they can block it or try to jump away and take 600 stun while attempting :smile:. The only escape is is quick rise ( you will be surprised how much people don’t do this), full body invincible move (most likely get punished if it like a dp or something)or projectile invincible move.

In the second video if the opponent is in the corner you can dash twice and do a solar plexus into a damaging combo. You can do if the opponent get knocked away from you (jumping distance) but i wouldn’t lol if they quick rise you will eata combo. You can do it mid screen but you will have to dash three times. I’ve tried the solar plexus but I can do it. Sweep will work and standing strong as well. How do you tag people? i would like to tag Vesper so he can do it because i dont have any followers lol.

edit: super will connect full screen as well only the Fierce version will connect.

Cool the only thing i didn’t knew that you have enough time to dashup then F+hp, I always do CA it combos on hit or on guard break full screen.

Only have somewhere around 10 Fully charge denjin setups. Most of them become useless cause quick recovery and back recovery, need to find more ways to discourage them. Nice vid btw.

Note: Don’t do charge hadoken setups against full bar Nash.

Well, for the first time in my history of playing fighting games i’m interested in playing Ryu.

It’s like they took all of the bland shittiness of his design and replaced it with exactly what I wanted.

He looks like the gross and powerful wandering hobo he is.

EX dp will go through Ryu’s CA.

You have to be careful with that stuff. It’s cool and hit’s a ton of people right now, but I’ve been punished for it with supers and as more characters are released and people see what’s happening, it’s going to be less and less useful. Like you’re midscreen setup off a denjin firbeall knockdown. Cammy will super right through that. Recovery on those is only good if they get hit or block. Seems a frame or two faster than normal fireballs at most.

Oh yah mid screen if Cammy or chun has super i won’t even attempt it. Now full screen i never got punished for it yet. Like I said you would be surprised how many people don’t quick rise so this might be a thing. I hope they make ryus cross up more ambiguous so the opponent will have ro take a guess to quick rise or stay down mid screen. Now that would be cool

Or capcom can implement a hardknock down on tatsu only while v trigger is activated :slight_smile: I don’t think it will be broken lol. It already hard to open people up

would making v-trigger ex fireballs fake cancellable be too strong? i think that would be a cool addition.

I have been full screen super punished by Cammy. Hell, I got anti-aired from near full screen too.

How do you guys go about trying to get a counter crush HK? Since it whiffs crouching I can’t think of a way to punish people pressing buttons with it. Only thing I’ve had any success with is poking with it. It’s his longest range normal.

what’s this? CA after fba or is this the regular CA?

As I mentioned before CA after FBA is possible but it has to not be EX of course. So yes these combos are possible.

Only real effective way of landing the CC is to AA with it and follow up with something as counter hits seem to add one juggle point.
