So USFIV patch 1.01 came out, and it fixed anti-air Flying Barcelona Special not being able to connect Rolling Izuna Drop afterwards… for the most part. Here are the things that happen with the five new characters.
Standing Decapre
STEALTH NERF!!!
- Cl.MK, Cl.MK no longer works.
Crouching Decapre
- Cr.MK, cr.LP, cr.MP xx EX Flying Barcelona doesn’t work without a jump in.
Cr.LP doesn’t connect even when cr.MK is done at point blank range. Mostly likely due to her reeling animation.
Standing/Crouching Decapre
- Flying Barcelona Special -> Rolling Izuna Drop does not work in the corner.
This is pretty big, as when you want to finish opponents off with a Super Combo, you have to avoid the corner. Damn.
Standing Elena
- Surprisingly, most of our stuff connects when she’s standing. Except for:
Cross-up ji.LK / cl.MK, cr.MP xx LP Rolling Crystal Flash.
It works when you substitute cr.MP for cr.LP. This is most likely 'cuz of Elena crazy idle stance.
Shit only starts to hit the fan when she’s…
Crouching Elena
The above combo works in exchange for another combo.
- Cr.MK, cr.MP xx EX Flying Barcelona Attack doesn’t work without a jump in.
Kinda major. - Flying Barcelona Special -> Rolling Izuna Drop does not work in the corner.
Weirdly, only LP Rolling Crystal Flash (last hit) xx Flying Barcelona Special -> Rolling Izuna Drop will work in the corner.
Jumping Elena
- Flying Barcelona Special -> Rolling Izuna Drop does not work in the corner at the apex of her jump.
Hugo
- Everything works on him. Good.
Standing Poison
- Cl.HP, cr.MP doesn’t work without a jump in.
Cr.MP doesn’t reach her. On paper, this sounds DEVASTATING. But in practice, this scenario will never happen. It works when she’s recovering from special moves and such. It will work on her dizzy stance without a jump in as long as you don’t jump behind her.
Standing/Crouching Poison
- Flying Barcelona Special -> Rolling Izuna Drop does not work in the corner.
Jumping Poison
- Flying Barcelona Special -> Rolling Izuna Drop does not work in the corner at the apex of her jump.
Standing Rolento
- Cl.HP, cr.MP doesn’t work without a jump in.
Same as standing Poison. However, unlike Poison, it’s possible on both sides off dizzy Rolento without a jump in.
Standing/Crouching Rolento
- Flying Barcelona Special -> Rolling Izuna Drop does not work in the corner.
Also, if you combo into Rolling Izuna Drop, you still can’t choose the direction you slam them in. Lame.
Dude. That’s pathetic. With each patch they’re screwing with Claw even more with such dumb things.
Not being able to Super in the corner is retarded. It was a thousand times better as it was.
And what the hell they did to the hurt/pushbox of the new characters? Not being able to clHP crMP? What is that? Vanilla?
Yeah, they should step it up. But as I said, the cl.HP, cr.MP link not working on standing Poison (with no jump in) won’t happen much. Except for one crucial scenario in the match-up.
Punishing the second hit of Poison’s Whip of Love (Rekka).
The second hit is -9 on block, making it a 1 frame punish with Vega’s cl.HP. However, Poison just isn’t close enough afterwards for the cr.MP to connect. In that scenario, just punish with something else.
Outside of jump ins and heavy punishes, cl.HP is too slow to use for much else. And if you’re using it as a frame trap after cr.LP x? -> walk forward -> kara throw mixup, cl.MK is the superior frame trap tool.
Nah. Not true at all. clHP is used after corspe hops and you can use crLP clHP in order to beat late crTech and focus backdash altogether.
And I don’t care. Even if it didn’t mattered… this should not happen no matter what.
But by what I am testing in the 1.01 version.
clHP crMP works on standing Poison.
crMK crLP works on crouching Decapre.
Yeah, in my previous post, I left out all the things that work and just put in what doesn’t work.
Hm, not sure if I am getting this right. But I pointed out two things that DO work when you posted that they do not.
You sure you did it without a jump in? Jump ins actually put you closer to the opponent.
Sure. They kinda hit in a weird way, maybe they’re 1f links due to the hurtbox anomalies. It requires more testing, but lol, Capcom is broken indeed.
I can only imagine what SF5 is going to look like.

crMK crLP crMP FBA definitely works on Decapre (midscreen only, in the corner the EX FBA will whiff).
clHP crMP on Poison does not. My bad. It works if the clHP is meaty, though.
You’re absolutely right. Cr.MK, cr.LP does work on crouching Decapre. The link is indeed tighter in that situation. Yes, the EX FBA did miss in the corner.
Interestingly, before I got the EX FBA to come out after a successful hit confirm on crouching Decapre in the corner, I accidentally got the Super Combo canceled out of the cr.MP. Whereas the EX FBA didn’t connect, Flying Barcelona Special did connect! But I wasn’t able to get the Rolling Izuna Drop afterwards. Accidental discovery!
Confirmed that the hitbox for Flying Barcelona Special knee launcher is bigger than the hitbox for EX FBA. At least it’s more expanded downwards.

Why Claw’s Super in the corner is not listed there? Can someone make a simple video of it not working after HP RCF xx Super against Ryu in the corner and send to whomever or something?
