Nah its like the easiest thing ever haha, sometimes I even make it come out accidentally if I forget to break my charge before kara-throwing. I actually have more trouble with quickly doing shoryukens.
When you are first learning, one thing to always remember to do, is to give yourself plenty of time to charge down-back before trying the move. Sometimes I used to get so caught up trying to make difficult moves like Bloody High Claw come out that I started forgetting to charge long enough, further complicating the problem. Be sure to turn on the input display in training mode so you can be sure you are hitting those sweet-spots of down-back and forward precisely. Practice, take breaks, try again the next day. Also, compare how long you have to charge Scarlet Terror as opposed to Rolling Crystal Flash, and see if you can find the difference.
One of the best combo’s that you can learn which incorporates RCF is Jump in HP or HK > cr.lp > cr.lk > RCF. The timing is very strict on the cr.lk, but once you get it down it can be a great addition to your arsenal. This is mainly because your opponent is expecting a cr.lp > cr.mp, so most of the time they stay blocking high, which is where the cr.lk works it’s magic. If they are blocking high, the cr.lk takes them out of block and then RCF hits. Add an FA to the end of RCF if you have meter for extra damage.
What he said.
I also prefer to negative edge it too.
Make sure you’re going straight into back charge the MOMENT you leave the ground, otherwise you won’t have enough charge.
As far as I’m aware…you can make the st.HP come out fairly quick, just the charge has to be there.
Aight guys, I found another useless but flashy combo…
Focus attack lv. 2, backdash, jab RCF (puts them in a juggle state), EX ST. Shitty damage but if you know it’s gonna finish them off it’s a sick way to end the round.
Make sure you you aren’t too close still after the backdash or else the first rolling hit will juggle and not the second slash. Also, gotta buffer the hell out of that charge during the backdash! Even off a dizzy its a kinda risky but still cool. First time I saw it was in Joz’s Scarlet Rain combo vid
my fav flashy set up is, focus attack to st;hk to super (cancel after first hit; has to be in corner) The stand hard kick keeps him planted on the ground so when super comes out you get great positioning to hit it. not practical at all since you have to his a crumple FA in corner and the execution is a little bonkers.
Not sure if it’s been discussed or not but there is a sure way trick to catch an opponent with a meaty EX FBA cross up on wake up. I’ve borrowed this tactic from Makoto (see: Godsgarden Online Makoto vs Uryo )
It involves somewhat strict charge buffering and practice but the results are all well worth it.
The moment you land an Izuna drop, make sure you are charging for a ST. Immediately HK ST the moment you are able to (while your opponent is on the ground getting up). Right after inputting the command for the HK ST, make sure you go back to down charge immediately. After you recover from a HK ST, the very moment you are able to, go for the meaty EX FBA and it should cross up. Getting the charge timing down for the EX FBA is strict and can be tricky at first but some time in training mode should remedy the problem.
I’m assuming it works on most, if not all, of the cast (I’ve tried this on Ryu, Viper, Sagat and a few others with varying hit boxes).
The beauty of this tactic is that your opponent will have a hard time seeing it coming and a hard time figuring out when/how to defend. And not only does the HK ST give you meter as well as set you up for the cross up, it leaves at just the right distance to continue to mount an offense. It might seem like a gimmick at first glance but it’s actually a solid mix up tool. But be judicious with your meter of course. Fall back on this tactic too much and you’ll soon find yourself with no meter when it really counts.
the timming is much more lose, but they cross up and you have dont have the same guarantee that whiffed hk.ST provides. in other words its harder to time.
i know there are some set ups off landing ST to. but i forgot them.
WTF moment: Vega mirror. I bait a wake up U2, does a backjump over it and goes for a slide (no, it wasn’t the worlds worst punish, he would’ve died from it). Lo and behold as I slide right through the other Vega and get killed for it. I thought it was kinda funny.
Sorry if this was already posted early on in this thread, but I found out by accident one day that this combo works specifically on Sagat and Makoto only: cr mk->cr mp->EX ST.
It only does 1 point more damage than the BnB EX FBA combo, and since there’s a lot less wall dive glitch in Super, its not as useful as it might have been in regular SF4 (where it also worked on Sagat). No idea why it works on Makoto and not someone that looks bigger, like Zangief or Rufus.
