Vega Combos & Glitches

Hey guys, I’m new to Vega and I have a question: Which of Vega’s moves are chainable, if any, and also how hard is it to link cr.mk > cr.mp / cr.lp > cr.mp?

I’m using a fightpad, so I don’t expect to be able to plink. ;~;

None are chainable.cr.mk>cr.mp is an easy link.cr.lp>cr.mp is not.

Alrighty then, I’ll try working with cr.mk > cr.mp. I really hate working so hard on links only to find out that the link I’m working on is a 1 frame link, Ex: Hakan’s s.lp > s.mp apparently, I’ve been told.

Actually, if anyone here knows how big the window is to link cr.mk > cr.mp or cr.lp > cr.mp, that would give me a good idea of how fast I should go for.

cr.lp - cr.mp is a one frame. cr.mk - cr.lp/mp is two frame. if you want the knockdown of cr.mk you have to do the one frame link cr.lp - cr.mp

This combo is sick:

J. HP, Cl. HP, link to Cr. MP, EX FBA
About 381 damage, and pretty easy to do

Throw your mask off before it and it does 400+ dmg

Scrubby post but I’m really having trouble with the j.hp, cl.hp, st.hk combo. Something about my timing is off; anyone have tips/videos to help?

I’m seriously starting to think that the standing HK hitting after close HP is character dependent. I can barely get it to work on shotos whereas it’s easier on bigger characters. Personally I would just go for crouching HP after the close HP if you don’t have meter…to me the link has the same timing as crouching MP despite it having one more frame of startup and it does the same damage.

Did you guys know that on some characters you can combo a close standing MK into a MP RCF?

It’s not a true blockstring (if the cl st mk is blocked, you can be mashed out of the MP RCF), but as a meterless punishment option j HP> st MKxxMP RCF does more damage and stun than j HP> cl HPxxHP RCF.

It works on Viper and Cody, but not on Ryu or Rufus. I didn’t test out any other characters.

Works on most of the big characters, and Blanka. I tested this a while ago back in vanilla.

i always thought the best meterless punishment of a jump in was

j.hp/hk - cr.mk - st.lk - st.lk - cr.hp

or

j.hp/hk - st.hp - st.hk

both 295 up great stun and meter

Ah ok, didn’t remember hearing about this. Sometimes I could get it to work on Ryu if the jump in was deep, but not something I would do in a match.

The mk to mp rcf after jump in does 290 dmg and 428 stun I believe. The nice thing about it is you have the option to FADC and add a st RH or go for a throw etc. Not saying it’s the greatest combo, but on the right characters if you’re gonna do a st HPxx HP RCF, you might as well do this one instead since it’s better damage and stun.

Yeah there are probably a couple more damaging meterless jump ins, although I don’t know if I would have the balls to do that first one you listed in a match :smiley: What’s that, three 1-frame links in a row?

well you can say its something like three one frames.

I also was doing some testing and sometimes i could get jf.hp/hk - cr.mk - cr.lp xx lp.RCF to land but not on everybody.

As for your combo its great damage + stun. But doesnt build enough meter and its very hard to land so people often go for the other.

as for my combo its annoying because of the hit animation makes it un-usable against some opponents. so i substitute it with jf.hp/hk - cr.mk - st.lk - st.hk.

i also cant get st.lk - cr.lp - cr.mp xx EX FBA to land on Balrog.

I also need to get a list of all of Vega’s variation combo’s need to start using those since it will give me more chances to maximize damage during footsies.

It says that you can’t do the combo on Balrog standing.

  1. As for the meterless combo my favorite ones to do that is easy, simple, relatively safe, reliable and can combo at best distances is my jump HP-> cr lp-> cr mp - > Lp RCF for 263 dmg and 414 stun.

  2. One that requires more skill but is also universal is jump HP -> cl HP -> cr HP OR st HK. If you do cl HP off of a jump HP, then you don’t get pushed back as far, making the st HK easy to connect. But if you are doing cl HP for the ground the only way to get the most meterless dmg on certain cases is to go for the 1 frame link cr HP. Both equally do 288 dmg and 460 stun. This is also one of my favorites.

  3. The easiest and simplest by far but that only works at close ranges and mostly on standing opponents is jump hp -> cr mp -> HK ST. If you use cr mk instead of cr mp then you will be able to do it at slightly farther ranges and on certain crouching opponents but you have to hit with the jump attack deeper than if you were going to use cr mp since cr mk is 4 frames slower on startup.

  4. For specific situations and characters you can do jump HP -> cr mk -> cr mp -> lp RCF for 303 dmg and 464 stun making it the second strongest combo with the second most stun meterless and can be FADC.

  5. For other specific situations and characters which will come up rare is jump HP, cr mk, cr lp, HK st for 306 dmg and 480 stun which is the strongest.

ouch that happens when i skim everything on this site. but yes combo’s are important to me now. maximize damage output!!! hitting up training mode. I have been doing some messing around and it seems lk.FBA and going for AA swipe makes the opponent juggle, but its easier to juggle with that move than it is with hk. got to mess around more with this. there has to be a property there. Did you guys also notice that all of Vega’s moves put the opponent in a juggle state?

And one more, for the hell of it: works on all characters but has to be a very deep/late jump HP, Cosmic Heel, HK ST. Does 308 dmg 460 stun, no meter.

It’s so sad that U2 doesn’t connect after that…that would be awesome. I think pretty much all you can do is a EX ST.

Don’t forget the one EX combo that does 500ish stun:
NJ.Roundhouse, CH, EX ST

More than 500 stun, I believe, for one EX. That’s NASTY shit right there. Straight out of Viper’s playbook.

All those were meterless combos, but yeah EX ST is the shit. You can also get over 500stun (525 I think) for 1 bar with: J RH, MK, LK ST, EX ST
