Vampire Savior: advanced link combos & important notes

Yea i’ve noticed the latency on 2DF when i first started playing. I’m trying to get a new CPU soon. Hopefully will have it up and running in the next month or so and get some VS matches going on GGPO.

Also i don’t see why people dislike Rikuo. He seems to have all the tools needed to win. I only really use Lei-Lei and him.

People don’t like Rikuo because when it comes to newer players, Rikuo dominates. When you first start out, it can be very hard to find a way out of bubble trap. Then gas may randomly catch you and some other stuff.

^ I see what you did there :smokin:

QFT.

Rik does have a lot of tools and he’s easier than most people make him out to be, but Rikuo does have some glaring weaknesses that make it awfully hard to win against the top tier characters. But Rik is a contender and his spot at the top of the mid-tiers is definitely well deserved. But then again, there’s a difference in using Rikuo correctly (dashing, throw setups, instant overhead mixups, managing charges correctly, bubble traps) than the way that most beginning Rikuo players (including myself at one point) play (corner hugging, Remy-style turtling)

But let me break down Rikuo’s bubble trap and show you how easy it is to get out.

Bishamon, Rikuo himself, Anakaris and Sasquatch can all Dark Force out of the bubble, since their Dark Forces give them some sort of invulnerability. It’s one of the safest options IMO, since it only costs a meter and the bubble by itself does little damage. Pretty good trade-off.

Other Characters have a hard time, because they don’t have that option. However, they can:

-Attempt to jump over it
-Hit Rikuo

Q-Bee has her float jump, Bulleta has a double jump, and Felicia has a wall jump. Those tools can all be used to get out of bubble traps.

To be quite honest, the bubble is used mainly for frustration/mixup purposes. It takes away a lot of options on the ground, because hitting a good Rikuo player out of his bubble trap is nigh impossible. So if your ground option is taken away, the first reaction is to jump, right? It seems to be the best way to get out, since Rikuo is looking to pressure, but Rik can Chicken Guard> j.jab, j.jab or even j.strong to get you back into the bubble if you jump towards him. Those moves will win most of the time. But the Rikuo player pretty much has to know that you’re going to jump, which would be 90% of the time with good players.

Rikuo frustrates beginning players because they don’t realize how weak he is on the defensive end. Rikuo really doesn’t have any “get off me” moves, like a DP or a good GC. So, unless your opponent is really good at Tech hitting, it’s rather easy to put Rikuo on the defensive. Just doesn’t help that Rikuo has a very strong dash game and some really solid offensive options. It’s hard to stop a Rikuo player that’s on a roll, lol.

Wow that was an essay… >.>

really now? Because i remember being able to whoop people with out using bubble at all? Could just be me though

You don’t count. I was talking about the new players.

New players in general lack basics that they need to win. Blocked D.Jab > Throw rapes them all day. Also, when newer players tend to reach the corner, they want to freak out and do something stupid to get out of the corner. So that leads to a lot of landed gas moves if you do some sort of block string that ends up with gas or echo.

But Korey didnt which is disappointing…

^This.

Korey, your avatar disappoints me.

I rather like it…plus I couldn’t get the Goldeneye one :frowning:

if I don’t buy the morrigan color for blazblue, does that make me a lesser VS person?

What’s a VS?

Sarcasm?

Yes, I herd you liek it.

In all seriousness though, I look forward to seeing anyone who is going to EVO this year.

>Lipucd’s rank demoted to “New Player”

:crybaby:

Yeah I hate Gas/sonic wave because each and EVERY time I want to start my rush down…BAM…

…and you can’t block once you dash too…;-;

…and I think a rikuo that tech’s decently then sonic’s/gas’s can be called a good “get off me”…because that ALWAYS WORKS ON ME NO QUESTIONS ASKED ;-;

…And I’m suppose to have a 7:3 advantage here…

i’m going to evo when i’m 60 at the rate i’m going -_-

…As in age 60 years old?

…or 60 in rank?

…Not sure on the 60 part here…

Age. GB is already 52.

He’s the True Gamegeezer. :stuck_out_tongue: (j/k)

Yeah it’s a nice spacing move, but it’s not a demon cradle or Shadow/Shiny blade.
