Vampire Savior: advanced link combos & important notes

That’s random…

I finally got a copy of Vampire Darkstalkers Collection for the PS2 and have GGPO set up.
Started looking at this thread, the wiki, vampiresavior.com, and some nico/youtube vids.
Is there any other resource I should look at while I’m practicing?

Learning vampire is more of a play exp then it is watching videos.

I know that much, as I said “while I’m practicing”.
I’m still trying to get used to the unique stuff in Vampire, but I just don’t want to miss out on important information.

No…sounds like you got all of the bases covered…

Really I can’t think of anything else out there that you don’t already have covered.
Well if anything hope to play with you sooner or later!

You should probably look up Shu’s Vampire Savior frame data thread as well. I don’t have the link off hand, but I think it was mentioned somewhere in this thread.

Also, make sure you suscribe to Neojinbe on YT, he’s always got fresh VS vids up.

Lastly, feel free to PM or IM me. I’m always down to talk some Savior with someone.

new VS matchup chart by DD sas and others,
see here: http://curryallergy.blogspot.com/
and here: http://blog.livedoor.jp/iamddsas23/archives/809867.html

anybody still thinks they know better?

BBH’s placement on there is still major bullshit. I don’t really think that DD and crew’s opinion is the end all/be all of matchups anyways. Yeah they’re pro japanese players, obviously their opinion is credible, but I don’t think you can honestly put BB below Aulbath and Felicia.

So yeah, I think I know better. But that’s my opinion.

What? Demitri lower then Lei-Lei? Be he has the DEMON CRADLE!
[/joke]

Really though the match up for Q-Bee just feels…odd…Yeah she’s got a few underlying issues with talbain and zable…But Jedah at 5.5? What was MasterSavior there pwning Q-Bee’s or something? I really don’t think she’s got that much issues with him just because allot of his attacks give Q-Bee the split second she needs to dash in and trash him…I guess though his ground dash game gives her a few headaces ( including if a GC or tech doesn’t come out. )…

…TBH I would think Felicia would be the 5.5, or heck 5 for her…But apparently I don’t know much.

Also: Lol, Rikuo at 7…It is to laugh…( I swear this list is mocking my ability somehow… )

…And Jedah…almost the lowest?

Ok…What. The. Heck. If anything I would figure him above the three shotos ( Morrigan, Lilith, Demitri )…Heck if anything at LEAST above lilith!..Now I know M.Saver wasn’t there…=p

Well that’s my random thought on it if anyone cares.

If you look carefully at the matchup chart you can see she has clearly an advantage against almost all the cast(except the top) but its not a major one, mostly 6-4 so overall she ends up at mid-high. Although 5-5 vs leilei, 5.5-4.5 vs morrigan, and only 6-4 vs bishamon/demitri/lilith seems a bit low, in my opinion she should be at 78-79 very close to talbain.

rikuo can’t do much vs q-bee while getting rushed and she can get away safely from the bubble trap so 7-3 is pretty accurate.

jedah 4.5 - 5.5 Q-bee is due to his dashing hk crossing over and her lack of decent anti air and options from mid range vs him (wheels, d.hp c.mk etc kill her from far) though 4-6 would probably be more fair.

The reason Jedah is so low is because he has really bad matchups, he’s a tall char, no DP/Reversal, no solid rush or any links… just pure mixupage making him not a very solid character but a fun one to play.

There’s a reason why I play Q-Bee at Echo’s/Gas’s length…

…Does it also help that Echo and smoke seem to have imprinted themselfs into my mind for “things to run into”?

I mean god dang it doesn’t matter who’s playing him he’s just a bad math up for me as a player…

Mmm, I don’t usually like to do this because I come off as brash and rude, but you do stupid shit that makes you run into it. You don’t stop and think “Shit If I knock him down or something, he has done (insert action here on wakeup)” . You get greedy too much when you’re too far away. There’s nothing wrong with Chicken guarding with Bee. Hell, if Rikuo has meter and I’m out of dash sweep range, I wouldn’t even try it. You need to think more when you play, period.

…Well I’ll admit, I usally never catch onto to much of anything till told about it so that’s part of the problem right there. Though I DO try to chicken guard…but when I do…nothing happens…It’s like whoever I’m playing knows JUST when I’ll do it, not attack, and ether grab me or get me on landing.

…Wha?..I don’t understand this…Mind going into a bit more detail?

Well if anything thanks for the heads up, again I never catch on to stuff like this till someone tells me it seems.

No no, there’s a difference between Jumping in and chicken guarding and doing it on reaction. If you watch, I normally don’t attack with a jump in until the very end of my jump, so if Rik throws gas, I block. I also can react to projectiles pretty much on reaction if I’m jumping. I guess it’s a matter of knowing when to jump and when not to. When I’m full screen and backing up or sitting there…you can pretty much anticipate that I’m doing some sort of charge. That’s what I meant about getting greedy from too far away.

Why is Morrigan higher than Lilith on that tier list? Also, is MagnetoManiac’s Felicia guide still active anywhere?

Morrigan is higher on the tier list because her anti-air options are better than Lilith’s and she takes slightly less damage (although she still bleeds like a stabbing victim). Morrigan’s fireball is also better than Lilith’s is. Although I would say the difference between the two is really negligable, I would only put Morrigan slightly higher than Lilith.

I can give you my copy of MagMan’s Felicia guide that I have.

Morrigan and Lilith take the exact same amount of damage, and they are both the same height when standing and crouching.

Thanks. Would definitely appreciate it.:lovin:

Morrigan has a better command throw (inv startup), a better ES uppercut, the Valkyrie Turn (gets out of traps/corner), a better far HK, and has dash pokes/overheads (like backdash HK).

Lillith has to work really hard for high/low mixups because she only has a normal jump and super jump, and her command throw is garbage. If you just block low against Lillith her tick throws and crossups is all she has for mixups. If Lillith had a better command throw or an overhead then it’d be a completely different story, but she doesn’t, Morrigan does.

It’s hard to say if Morrigan’s fireball is better than Lillith’s or not though, because Lillith tends to use hers quite a lot more than Morrigan. Both are useful, but in really different ways.
