I did not go in to deep on characters dashing links other than BBhoods and Bishamons during the test (I just did mostly general move properties and such). You may be right about the some characters missing the dashing links GB, because I was not able to perform Bishamons during the test, (i could only do Aulbaths and Anakaris without meaty, and zabels with meaty.) I’ll check again later, although i was able to do at least one rep of BBhoods dash link. Again I suck, so I’m not sure if I’m going to be pulling the inf off anytime soon. I’ll come with a report later on about the dashing links in this game.
its not incredibly worth it imo mar. most people with a dc and stick can afford a $10 pc converter, and practice on arcade perfect computer.
initially I learned timing for some links(i.e. dash links & not complex ones) on the comp w/ a kbd, before I had the means to properly practice on stick.
how come there are no detailed character faq’s for this game?
just a quick q. ive got anthology for the ps2. ive only played through it with a few characters but with all the games. what i would like to know is which DS games are seen as the best and which the worst, in which order? i wanna practice my vampire game but wanna know where to invest my time @. vampire savior 1 or 2 was frowned on by the players or something along those lines, what i heard ones on a different forum. also, the second game is obviously better than the first ( vampire hunter > darkstalkers), but what about comparisons with vampire hunter 2?
thanx in advance.
Order would probably be-
VSavior1 (still played in tournaments, it’s on GGPO now)
Vampire Hunter1 (has tournaments in Japan)
.
.
VSavior2/VHunter2 (they are the same game with some character changes between them, no one really plays)
Darkstalkers1 (no one plays, period it seems).
The last 3 just aren’t played.
thanx a lot man. incidentally those 2 are the ones i liked the best.
Uh, read the wiki.
GB put up a lot of good info on chars there. (though not everyone has been finished yet)
I can do the same,it’s called being ambidextrous
anyways thanks for this thread it really has helped ALOT:wgrin:
Vampire Savior walk velocities. Gathered from the CPS-2 arcade version with artmoney and Kawaks. Data is ordered fwd/back. Oboro, Dark Talbain and Gold Raptor use the same velocities for walking as their parent characters. Raptor’s crouch walk uses the same vels as his regular walking
Hope it helps. Sorry it’s a mess, this place lacks table options.

go on ggpo more y’all.
sux being the only one in the room.
Iad
I’m still trying to figure out the best way to IAD (on a stick), i get it right 90% of the time doing it right to left using my thumb but i really struggle on p1 side , would be nice to know how other people do it so i can find the most comfortable/accurate way.
Yeah, what’s even more funny is sometimes there’s like four people in the room but they’re all afk and no one is even playing. WTF?! Even D&D probably gets more play than VS at times. Damn…
I used to ask the room if anyone wanted to play and 90% of the time no one would respond despite like 4 ppl supposedly “available.” I also think a few folks only play against certain people – but with VS often being scarce in competition, we can’t always be so picky.
@ youthanasia: Yeah when using a stick, assuming I’m 1p side, I’ll use the thumb to tap 7, 4 (iad backward) and for 9, 6 (iad forward) I’ll use the cup of my palm (the area just below my four fingers and between my thumb) to move the stick. Hmm… yeah I don’t know if I’m explaining that last one well.
Personally, the bugs are keeping me away. The disconnect one is annoying but not nearly as bad as the lobby freezing up constantly. It requires a system restart for me to run it after that happens. Things also skip/rollback alot more with anyone above 60ms. These weren’t issues in builds prior to 25
The screen freeze seems random, but it’s the one I encounter the most. Sometimes I’ll play a set of 10+ matches with no problems whatsoever. Other times, it only take 2 - 3 matches before it freezes. There doesn’t seem to be any correlation between the screen freeze and whether anyone specs. or not (for me at least) as I’ve had games with spectators and no problems – save the skipping when they enter or leave. From my experience, I haven’t had problems with ppl with high ping – although against Europeans I noticed heavy lag.
I’ve only been on since 6 - 7 weeks ago so I don’t have much experience with earlier builds, but damned if things didn’t start going to the shitter since kof 98 was introduced (I’m not actually blaming it on 98 btw). LOL Yeah, it sucks.
Um… more on topic: Can anyone tell me if DF activation has invincibility frames? If so, would I be able to use it to get out of pressures or through certain moves?
Yeah I hear you…it is true this build has more problems than previous ones…especially the occasional freezes. However I go to the other rooms…SFA2, MVC, KOf…it is never without a slew of people to play. However Vampire Savior is often with no one to play…it is sad. What a terribly underestimated game. I know it is much more popular in Japan. Did it not catch on here because of the anime art style (could also explain why GG series isn’t very popular here either) or is it some other reason?
Aizen…I’ve read many places that DPs in VS don’t have any invincibility frames…and I’ve hit people as they were starting there DPs and been hit out of them as well. However maybe someone who knows the game real well, can answer better.
yeah this new build is pretty bad, connecting to a lot of different people is a problem now. i can only play a few people, thats why there was the decrease of people playing this game after the build came out. hopefully this gets fixed, and yeah, its only for VS, i dont have this problem with any other game.
universally, dark forces, and guard cancels have startup invincibility. so yes, you can df to get out of certain situations.
I think a few characters or so have a super(EX) with invincibility frames(bb’s grandma super), but for the most part, i’ve seen just about every ES/EX hit out of or counter hit
i’ve even been thrown out of morrigan’s dp -_-
Not 100% sure on this, but I believe some uppercuts do have invincibility (like Demitri’s). There are definitely plenty that don’t, though. Morrigan’s is a perfect example.
demitri’s just has really good priority
you can hit him out early with victor electric fists, or fireball him. i think jedah’s s.rk at the right distance works too(was using it today).
Dee info for you guys with DS Collection but never delved into it too much.

His blood sword is always the same color it seems.
His walk vel (fwd/back) in Vampire Savior Upper is 3.000/2.375.
