Vampire Savior: advanced link combos & important notes

Quick question for the VS heads:

Does Bulleta j. MK have funky collision detection against ALL characters or just Q-Bee? I (Q-Bee) was playing my brother (Bulleta) last night and I kept getting mindfucked by the ambiguity of his j. MK, where I’d block it decisively from the front, but sometimes Bulleta would land on the other side anyway. The game would auto-correct my blocking, of course, but since I wasn’t expecting the side switch, I’d, uh…auto-UNcorrect it and eat the ground chain.

Does this work against most characters (except perhaps big ones like Victor/Anakaris), or is Q-Bee, like, just skinny enough that this works? (I presume you might be able to do the same to Bulleta herself?)

Ok. I’ll give you a sample situation that’s applicable with most characters. But I’ll specifically use John Talbain (Gallon) since he has a great option select.

Talbain jumps in a with a jump in fierce. It lands you pretty close if it doesn’t get pushblocked. Talbain can walkup and do forward+roundhouse for his kick throw option select. If your opponent does nothing or tries to hit a button, they’ll most likely get beat by his kick throw. If they jump, then Talbain’s close Roundhouse kick comes out and hits you.

That’s bulleta’s j.mk, it can be done on any character at the right distance.

I wish i had a picture of the hitbox.

Anyone know if theres any hitbox info floating around?

from the 1up coverage:

lol at B-Izm being all sad that a new Darkstarkers game wasn’t shown today.

Me, Im just apathetic since I don’t trust Ono with this series.

I think, Ono has successfully repilcated a game that he wanted to improve on (sf2 to sf4). And the technology’s there finally to have a 3d game that can play at the speed of mvc2, which is originally why i never believed in 3d fighters.

I think he has the resources & passion to properly replicate the Vampire series, the question is: which one?

If Ono is going to recreate the vampire series I believe it would be based on Savior. Since I find way more vids from japanese tournaments in savior then hunter show which one is still in play and what fans (that play the game) want.

This series is probably hard to make a sequel if you think about what fans want from it.

-It has to appeal to the masses
Looking at what they did with SF4, its unrealistic to think that ‘noob unfriendly’ VS elements such as fast gamespeed, IADs, airchains, weird AG, hard GCs would retain in a sequel.

At the same time it has to be vastly unique from SF and have Vampire elements.
Chains, GCs, unique dashes per character, ES/EX bar system

Its probably hard to find a median point that can satisfy the majority of both SF players and OGs.
You know what tho, after seeing the gameplay footage of SF vs Tekken, I’m glad it wasn’t Darkstalkers if a copy paste like that is their ‘new fighter’

Also, to add on to ihira’s point:

How many non Vampire players can name characters in the game that haven’t been in other games? (Morrigan, Felicia, Demitri, Anakaris, Jedah, Lei Lei [lol Pocket Fighter])

I think, what I fear most is the latest trend of ‘cancel anything’ syndrome that all the latest fighters have. I like it, but I don’t. ssf4 implements it fairly well imo, and blazblue really doesn’t use it much, but then you get to gg, which is on the other side of the spectrum, requiring you to get their RC’s down to within frames, and TvC, which honestly makes combo loops ridiculous.

and yes its a run-on :stuck_out_tongue:

Fuck ono. Grimey ass asian fuck always fucking up the games I love. Capcom has already fucked up mvc3\HDR and ssf4 might be the most boring tournament game of all time.

Capcom has to sell the game to the masses. Look @ ono’s statemenet @ comiccon, how many of you non playing video game fucks want to see a new vampire game?! then like 200+ people hold a dollar bill up in the air? that shit is mother fucking joke, why the fuck are they not on ggpo?

this whole new era is a god damn joke. You have wannabes asking for new games that they NEVER play. You have fuck ass capcom making everything so damn easy I could play with my fucking feet and still win. I love the fact that I can remain creative in vampire savior because of a deep complicated engine. Look @ some of the block strings you can create in this game, its pretty retarded. Then look @ how capcom nerfed the fuck out of block strings in ssf4, that whole game is fucking jabx5 for offensive strings.

I think I will start playing those doujin fighters because they seem to be the only company progressing forward with game play. Even though arcana heart 3 is a fucking loli jap game, the playing field is HUGE. Probably the biggest playing field for a 2d fighter EVER, double jumps, 8 way air dashes, multiple types of block strings, big ass combo’s, hi\lo so scrubs can’t play. Capcom just keeps regressing their gameplay over and over again and I for one am sick and tired of that money making scam. Shitty game = big bucks because gamefaqs.com will buy it up.

\rant

That’s why I get all mad when people are like “Those games are all stupid doujin bullshit! They’re all the same stupid shit airdashes are gay! lol3srealmansgame!”

Anyone have any basic Zabel tips? His wiki page is pretty sparse.

Everything you need is on page 1 of this thread. I main Zabel, hit me up if you need in depth info

It’s funny that you mention that, because I thought that some of the most retarded stuff in SSFIV came down to the fact that meaty attacks don’t exist in that game to the extent of older SF games like Super Turbo or the Alpha series. It’s like any mashed out Reversal with invicibility frames will always beat a meaty, even if it looks like it’s timed right. It makes the whole game look like a flowchart game because okizeme will boil down to very very basic things. Not as many frame traps, loose strings, or anything like that.

But I agree. If people “want” a new Darkstalkers game, then they should look into the series that they’re chanting for. But I think what’s important is to realize that we were all casual fans before we decided to dedicate ourselves to this game in particular. So, we’d be sticking our elitist foots in our mouths by not allowing people who aren’t as serious to say “Hey I’d like something new.” After the vets (read: us) get in this game and crush the souls of the n00blets, we’ll get either a bunch of quitters or a bunch of new faces that are going to bring us the competition we desperately yearn for. So…pick your poison.:razzy:

Who are the best Lei-Lei(s) to watch? From what I’ve seen so far (which honestly isn’t all that much given the vast amount of vids available x____x), I’m digging ???/Atsuta’s style.

Besides the first page, don’t forget to search the thread for zabel/lord raptor posts. There should be some good nuggets of information. I did that for Jedah/Morrigan. It helped. Don’t forget to search youtube as well. I typically type in “Vampire Savior tournament (character name)” and some good videos pop up. Then you can use the names of the tournament players when searching.

Lastly, if you wake up early (or stay up late) u can witness some japanese/korean players. I see Zabel quite often in their matches.

Atsusa is pretty sweet. Also be sure to check out Sasaduka and Egolei. They both get on GGPO frequently. Do you ever get on? I know LeiLei inside and out… The Japs are definitely more consistently strong than I am, but I know some shenanignas and hit things in matches they dont even try for/havent seen

Train to do his IAD as low as possible, short short super, learn his unblockable. These are Zabel’s basics.
