Vampire Savior: advanced link combos & important notes

Hmm…good to know. Too bad no one I know plays this anymore

I was at CF last Friday and played some people. I also know a few cats who play and can probably drag them out to play.

We gotta talk and setup a time to meetup. Let’s get Tian into playing as well.

Don: Thanks, man. Sure, youtube is fine. I mean, I’m not really hosting anything…

Shag: Tian and I often go on friday evenings (team Bite Times Two, heh) For the time being both the ST and VS cabinets are in decent working order, which is nice. EDIT: oh fuck, did I just jinx them? goddamn it!!! hehe

Unless something has changed, isn’t MightyMar in the Chicago area? I’m pretty sure he’s way into VS… I don’t think Nickel City has a VS cabinet these days, but I know there are gonna be PS2s with the game at MWC in February so you should make it out.

nohoho, wow, way to go. Where do you find all of this stuff?

nice thread. comes along at the right time too as my friends and I are starting to pick this game back up. Tiring of the other fighters out there and with the only thing on the horizon being HnK this will hold us over. Wish this game had more of a scene here though. keep the info comin!! great stuff.

just a quick Q. how can i find you guys for some online matches??? thanks!

http://forums.shoryuken.com/forumdisplay.php?f=215 <- kaillera matchmaking forum

Check the Beginner’s Guide to MAME if you have any problems getting it running.

Most people hang out in Godweapon, Anti3d, R1 Hosting (east), Daroms (central), fragbox(west), and Reps(UK, they seem to prefer VS2 there though). Or once your more familiar with kaillera, open up a private one for a (usually) smoother game.

What’s your kaillera name and times you’re usually on?

Random question, anyone ever run into a situation where pushback doesn’t happen, allowing for pretty much a jab infinite? Seems a pretty rare/unlikely setup tho, trying to get a vid.

Anyone want to set up an IRC for this game, I’m really interested in getting into it again.

By the way, which game is played more often, VS or VS2?

EDIT: I created a channel for matchmaking if anyone wants to join, it’s on
IRC: EFNet
Channel > SRKvampire

Everyone plays VS only because VS2 feels like an imcomplete game. Kinda like Tekken 5.1.

Thanks MightyMar.

Everyone who uses Kaillera should join the matchmaking server on IRC, we have a few people in there now.

anyone planning on hitting evo this year? I’ll be there and I intend to pretty much campout at the byoc area. I’ll have VS and a few other things with me.

Been playing alot of Victor and Bishamon lately.

Generally I try and move the opponent to the corner and keep him there.
depending on the distance I’ll end a string with cr. Fierce(elec) or standing Fierce(elec)

Off of a Cr. Fierce, I’ll do a couple of things.
walk up, 360
walk up, F+MP throw to reset them, occasionly mix in the follow up every so often
If they tech the throw I’ll follow with the DP + K. Depending down on the timing you will either have it blocked(which again is another throw setup) or you can whiff it and throw as they land. or follow up with a walk up 360. And of course I’ll mix in chains as well

Off a standing Fierce

I’ll jump in with a deep fierce. The animation will start but the attack will whiff. throw, knee, whatever mixup from there. Or the Fierce will hit and stuff a good deal of things. This can also be done from the CR. Fierce but It works better for off the standing version(more ambigious)

other stuff I do with victor

I like to mixup the electrics with regular normals. People will get accustomed to the recovery of the elec version and get punished when you do a regular attack with less lag.

To be honest I’ve been beasting on CVS2 players with this so I’m not sure how useful it is against legit Vampire Players.

I didnt see this in the regular notes, but Victor’s elec normals stuff projectiles. not really news, but some newer players may not have noticed it yet.

I was wondering what constitutes a non tech recoverable attack? I was looking for them with Zabel, but I couldnt find any. I got the timing for the unblockable down but I could never figure out the setups for it. Still worked like a charm on the cvs2 player who tried to turtle up.

i hear his gc, or ex gc… so skisonic told me long ago

i’m starting to write up victor whatnot.

real life is hindering the gb to the ursine

Well, if it helps, Bishi’ really does rape in the corner. Guy can keep you in there with pressure linked chains for ages unless you’re good at tech hitting.

Looks like Zabel and Dimitri are moving up the tier list. According to the results at the DCC no sasquatch player even got through their second match, pretty sad.

color me not surpised. Victor was in second as well wasnt he? or was that last year?

Not surprised about Demitri. He has to have like one of the best reversal moves in Capcom history.

Yeah he was in second as well, and Lilith in third.
It was a few months ago I think but yeah, here is the link to the results.

I know Gbursine is gonna write up on victor, but I’m bored so I’ll add a few tidbits.

Victor’s 360 seems to work different than zangiefs

for victor all you need is hit the 4 cardinal directions in order for it activate
I assume this is why it took me forever to get his down. I eventually just started doing: b,db,d,df,f,uf,f + p or f,df,d,db,d,u,+ p to get it off consistently.

however being able to do b,d,f,u +p has its advantages.

for example you can do b,d,f,f,u+p to dash and cancel into throw very quickly.

it’s less of a fakeout and more of kara throw than anything

On the rare occasion I do decide to go for a knockdown in the corner

I’ll use cr.sht,st.mp,cr.fwd,cr.rh(e)

this leaves me in a position where their forward roll stops right in front of me. I’ll mix up 360 throw or chain combo if they jump or backdash. The person i usually play tends to do wakeup DP with morrigan alot. In this case I activate DF and punish.

the best thing is the 360 throw leaves me at the exact same distance to repeat. If they roll back, its no biggie since they are still in the corner.

Uh, how is that different from Zangief’s SPD?
That’s how “360” moves have worked in almost every fighter. It’s actually more of a 270 degree motion than a true 360. Left, down, right and some form of up are all you need to hit.

well kiss my grits. You’re right I just tried that in third strike. either way it makes for a handy kara throw for victor

Although i must i’m still confused about VS 360s

In every other fighter I do 360s going from up to forward(u,ub,b,db,d,df,f) but with victor and demitri i could never get it to work which is why i switched to the b to up motion(b,db,d,df,f,uf,u)
