I used to draw a shitload myself, and I really appreciate and admire good art, and respect good artistry, and I know and understand just how difficult it can be to achieve, so I always try to be good to artists who put a lot of work into their work… but man, I need to call this like it is. No disrespect intended. I always tried to improve myself as an artist and I would imagine you do too. It’s kinda tough for me to be hard on people about this stuff but I always wished someone with a good eye would be straight honest with me about my work.
The head looks great, that box of chocolate is sweet, the idea and costume and composition and theme and colour are all really nice, but dude that body is fucking terrifying. Everything from the way things are attached to each other, the proportions, definitions, curves… those evil witch-creature fingers.
It pains me to see you sink so much time and effort and talent into planning, outlining, colouring, polishing, finishing… when the basic linework held serious flaws. Your linework is arguably the most important contributor to the end result in a piece like this. I’m all for deliberate stylistic choices and creative liberties but something seriously ain’t right with that girl.
This probably sounds really mean. I don’t mean to discourage you. I was never an incredible artist myself, but I always saw room for improvement in myself and I think that’s how I attained whatever level I did. I hope I can help you in this way too.
I’m sorry, man; she’s scary. If I was a child saw that figure hobbling and shambling towards me I would burst into tears of fear and run away! (At my age now, I’d probably peek under that skirt and then run, but that’s besides the point.) Please tell me that you kinda see what I’m saying, or that this was a joke, or that you have some sort of alarming and rare fetish.
Well, like everyone else mentioned the top half is pretty good. The fingers and face are drawn really well. The muscle lines are over done in the back and legs. The bottom half is REALLY freakin’ huge. I mean compared to the original drawings its at least twice the proportion. But it does make her stand out as rook says.
Now the problem. I get the men love the idea of anal anything but this really looks disgusting. The brown around the face and the hole on her crack just make me want to downgrade this drawing. I think this is clever but it’s still wrong.
This comment by no means discourages me and neither does true critiques. I am aware of the problems of this image and will do another Chun Li piece that has far less flaws. This is part of being an artist.
I guess I’m further adding to the bumpage, but I did notice that QUAID took his original post down of Chun Li.
I still like her face, from what I remember of the drawing. Some bits were drawn to an exaggerated degree, but all in all it was a nice piece that QUAID shouldn’t be ashamed of.
