How noob friendly are these weekly/quarterly tournements you guys hold/attend?

I’ve been playing SF4 for a while and I like it alot, but I suck something fierce at it. I’m interested in comming to these tournements to learn how to play better. None of my friends play, so all I have is online play.

If I show up to these tournements will I learn some tricks and improve my gameplay or will you guys just straight up destroy me? I’d hate to show up, feel out of place and then just leave after I get my ass kicked.

I play on PC. I have it for PS3 also, but I left that at a friends house in hopes that they would pick it up, practice and enjoy it.

They haven’t touched it.

PS3 is Myrkur-R

My roomate has it for xbox, but thats in his room and I never go in there, and he isn’t competitive really at all.

If you think you suck, you probably do suck lol which means you’re going to get your ass kicked. But, if you want to improve, there’s no faster way then to meet people who are better than you and to learn. Feeling out of place has nothing to do with skill level. Scrubs and pros alike all come out to the gatherings/ranbats. You get out of it what you make of it.

Haha, yea I’m not saying I suck to downplay my skills or anything. I mean I really do suck, I have like a 30% win ratio online and make lots of mistakes. I’ll make it to the Sunday event on mount pleasant for sure. Saturday probrably not, but we’ll see.

a majority of us are gonna be in philly for the weekend for a major, but im sure joe e winback 10 x (if he diecides to grace yall) and maybe dsinnie and randumb can teach you loads boss.

gamestop is a good place to start to be honest.

the atmosphere is very casual. nobody who goes is any sort of jerk. the level of competition is somewhat lower then what you may run into at blacks. also nobody but ryry, and nick (but i think that is still undecided)really cares to play tekken so if you don’t play tekken you don’t even have to watch it at gamestop. also it’s a good spot to show up and meet people so then when you go to blacks or a tournament you don’t feel like you don’t know anyone.

and you get to make fun of bobby. which is half the fun…

So any team that consists of Psylocke or Commando is not considered a “team full of top tiers” even if their assists are great? I just think it’s weird to see those two, very utilized characters in competitive atmospheres, getting grouped together with a bunch of characters you rarely ever see played at high level, if ever.

And Neo, I swear to God your AV keeps getting closer and closer to me every day.

Pretty much. Assists don’t really dictate the tier of the team itself, but rather compliments your lead. Like Psylock AA sets up Mag infinites well and Commando shuts down aggression or punishes. I don’t really play the game, but I have a decent understanding and got most of my info from Syber and Foomy.

And my AV is probably right behind you… right… about… now.
