Using Super Turbo to learn footsies, spacing, etc?

@Corrosive, I think I see what you’re getting at; don’t cling to the idea that I need to play a different game to get the right perspective on the basics of a totally different game, is that about right? If so, you have no need to worry, I won’t be “that guy”. I’ve pretty much consigned myself to sticking with SFIV for the time being.

@TheBlackHombre, I should have mentioned that I’ve read Maj’s footsie guide and love it to death; I was essentially trying to see whether or not ST or any other game would be the right place to apply the principles in that series to earn the best results for my effort, if that makes any sense. For example, you can cut a piece of paper with a sharp enough knife, but scissors are a better and more accurate tool for the job.

Even if you’re sticking to sfiv to learn the footsies you should play sf2 it is a great game
The older games of samurai shadow/spirits are more like sf2 then any other sf game I don’t know if there is people playing it on ggpo tought
Do as JustinW said, try to play with only normals so you discover the limits of your pokes counter pokes fake pokes and so on.

ST is great for learning how to grow hair where their wasn’t hair before.
