I wish I could see some footage of Machabo’s Evil Ryu. The only Evil Ryu’s I’ve seen so far are either bad or decent players who don’t bother trying the new stuff like tatsu > sweep, target combo, and EX red focus. I wanted to see some of these guys use tatsu sweep and try to counter DWU. I’ve already come up with some stuff in my head and I was hoping to see some of it actually done in a match but none bothered. Target combo has it’s uses as well and EX red focus lets him land full U1 or 2 from footsies easily.
Well hopefully some new footage comes out with guys playing Evil Ryu and not doing exactly the same thing they’ve been doing in AE 2012.
Jeez, nobody bitches even about El Fuerte or Seth as much as you do about Makoto. I get it, you like Viper who is a MILF who shows a ton of cleavage and carries a lot less risk for their reward but doesn’t have quite the wide set of options or strong normals when fighting instead of Makoto who is a teenager tomboy that also while being top tier is a high risk high reward type character that has to use her strong normals to even move around and can’t just go flying off full screen with super jumps into crossups.
Calm down man. Lol. Just a collection of 0s and 1s.
Yang will be much higher than that. Yang will easily be better than yun in ultra. Swap yun and yang around and I agree with mostly everything.
Its definitely possible that Yang will be better than Yun. Ultra hasn’t mature enough yet so I’m not even sure 50% of the things I’ve written.
Just speculations :>

the lack of ken should be surprising. should be.
not sure if all his buff can compensate the loss of all his okizeme/ex air tatsu nerf, maybe ken players need more times to figure out new setups, or DWU is underestimated
OR it could be that arcade BP scores don’t accurately reflect anything in terms of character strength as has been shown numerous times over the years?
Take a look at some of the characters in the top 28 for AE2012 arcade. (only listing top 28 because that is the number posted for USF4.)
Nishikun #14 with Blanka
Waikee #16 with Juri
Makki #19 with Abel
Nekojita #21 with Abel
Darui #24 with Dhalsim
Akima #27 with Honda
Yet these characters DON’T appear ANYWHERE in the top 28 for AE2012
Evil Ryu
Sakura
Rufus
C. Viper
Guile
There are more Abels and Ibukis in top 28 than there are Ryus or Akumas or Makotos or Adons. There are more Kens than there are Ryus in the top 28. Hell there are more Kens than Ryus in the top 100. There are more THawks in the top 100 than Guy (or Cody/Dan/Hakan/Deejay who all have zero but Hawk has 1.)
Surely he’s not saying that Makoto players are travesties, someone said that about El Fuerte players.

Ultra does not need to mature to know this. The most important parts of Yang’s previous bullshit have returned. For most intents and purposes, he now plays like AE Yang and can be judged similarly.
In exchange, Yun got pretty much nothing.
Not entirely true his mp palm doesn’t have AE frame advantage and his xup mk isn’t as good… I’ve seen it get low profiled a lot and whiff a lot in neutral situations still.
oh just saw Kichjojiken Ken @ 22-23k bp on Yubiken stream, Kazunoko is in the same range with Yun they streamed some kind of exhibition on godsgarden if am not mistaken

They didn’t return fully though, he still a watered down version. Crossup is worse, s.lk is worse, senei enbu is worse, divekick is worse, lost throw invincibility on command grab. And more importantly because it was very important in his worse matchups, the palm frame data and hitbox is unchanged.

The jMK after mk upkicks is still very easy to read and to duck under.
He got more damage and his reset game is strong, so he’s looking decent.
But would not surprise me to find Yun being higher in the tiers once things have settle down and people start remembering how to fight Yang.
Remember that, ultimately, even if Yun got very little in Ultra, that character probably had less than 10 losing matchups in v2012. He’s still gonna be very good.
yeah i dont think yang is going to be top 10 now either. he still has a bunch of flaws. thats not to say he’s a bad character, but out of 44, i think 10 characters will be better
i dont think yun is top 10 either tho. that being said his offense is still overwhelming. i saw some yun players still doing cr.mp command grab, and 2 lights into command grab, so that nerf wasnt really meaningful. plus they buffed his cr.mp damage so that should offset the 1 point damage scaling a bit.
the one nerf to his offense is the threat of ex lunge into yolo hk dp. so now when he does lunge you can just mash on 3 frame crouch normals without much fear.
his defense is slightly weaker, but he still gets really good reward for landing ex dp into lunge. good damage and he’s right on top of you for his mix ups
at the end of the day they both are most likely in that next group of 10-20 leaning towards the high end
>remembering how to fight Yang
Three years later and I never learned how in the first place. I can count on my fingers the number of Yangs I have fought to this day still.

I THINK I’m up to like 8. 3 of which were AE Yangs.
Watched those Yubiken stream vids. Kichikun (spelling?) thinks Chun, Juri and Sagat are top tier. Kim1234 thinks Guile, Chun and Sagat(I forget I think this was his third) are top tier. He also mentioned zoners dominate the game right now but its because they can zone well and have good comeback potential. Interesting to hear from the stream.

This Guile age will be a pain, worse than AE. At least in AE I was on the winning side and had fuckloads of fun.

Yeah, I’m not sure I’m gonna enjoy fighting zoning characters all day.
I don’t mind fighting defensive characters as long as the matches don’t drag on forever. Given the pace of this game and the weakening of the knockdown game, this seems likely to be the case.
