With all the various changes I have no clue what’s final and most updated. But I think its telling that Dieminion has said he’s dropping Guile if he stays this way. There must be something we’re not seeing for him to say that.

At some level it’s just kvetching; let’s see if he actually drops Guile or not in the final release

OR

Dieminion is making a rash judgement based on a myopic view of his characters changes from arcade release to current without looking at the other changes he got and system changes from AE2012 to current. As well as possibly not understanding what some changes mean.

One of the statements was that Guile’s sonic booms have counterhit state again on startup. This is in fact REVERTING a nerf but Dieminion (and many others) can’t seem to read (or test) how sonic boom works in AE2012.

I’ll break it down in a quick sonic boom history lesson:
In Arcade Edition, one of the nerfs that Sonic Boom got was that the move was in a counterhit state for the entire duration of the attack.

For reference, LP Sonic boom looks like this:

1-9F startup frames 10F first active frame and first recovery frame. 10F - 30F is recovery period (the move is 30F total) in AE if you hit Guile at ANY point during the attack (meaning 1-30F) it’d be considered a counterhit.

In AE2012 the notes read as such:

Bolded the important part. In AE2012 Sonic boom CAN STILL BE COUNTERHIT but now it’s on the startup frames of 1-9F NOT 1-30F. Dieminion and many others seem to think he has NO counterhit state.

Now in USF4 arcade release they nerfed sonic boom’s counterhit state PARTIALLY back to AE status. It’s 1-20F instead of 1-30F.

However the claim just released is that

That means 1-9F. E.G. EXACTLY HOW IT IS IN AE2012. Which is BETTER than in USF4 Arcade Release. 1-9F counterhit is much less risky than 1-20F

If Sonic Boom is indeed 1-20F counterhit state in USF4 final build and they DON’T revert it to on startup only then he has a legit gripe there. Otherwise he is just misinformed about the way the move currently works.

The thing is they don’t need to do anything to Guile’s U1, U2, Flash Kick, or SB’s to give them the ability to auto-correct. They just need to fix the translation bug on his wakeup. If they do that, then it solves everything. If they intentionally try to make things auto-correct, they will implicitly track.

Of course, but he didn’t say that and no one claimed otherwise. Also I thought that the issue was with Guile’s turn around transition not his wake up transition. If you record him crouching for 1F and then jump over him he freaks out in a way no one else does and starts sliding around. I remember seeing a video of it like 1-2 years ago. Could be mistaken in regards to that being the cause though.

What I’m getting at is that when Capcom says “auto-correct” and when players say “auto-correct” it means 2 different things. There is no special mechanism that enables auto-correct (in theory). Every special in the game has the ability to do it. Guile’s is just much harder because of the translation bug.

Yeah that’s what I was referring to. He has translation on his turn around which can be exploited on his wakeup because he can’t auto-correct his specials without tricky stuff like jump cancelling.

Desk discovered it and Gilley showed how to get around it. If you jump over the dummy he won’t move until you perform a super than slows the game down.

Haha this. Reading over the guile nerf article is seriously tough to do without responding to retarded comments. People calling for nerfs on any character that they dislike while simultaneously asking for ridiculous buffs for their mains. The worst is when you see people saying combofiend is wrong and that they should let people like dieminion balance guile because combofiend isn’t a guile player.

My favourite comment so far
"i want to see new moves, give me a air sonic boom or jumping backwards flash kick, how many years are these characters going without a new move in their set, just dont seem realstic"

I hate to be the guy that points this out, but it isn’t much better here. People may state things more elegantly, however the general attitude is the same.

The latter is somewhat avoided by most, due to fear of backlash. So buff requests are usually modest (though I suspect only to not be ridiculed by others). The former is plain as day to see. It happens all the time and reflects the pettiness, jealousy and whining nature of many.

Combofiend is the scapegoat for everything that is wrong in Ultra SFIV on SRK forums.

Combofiend is wrong.

I am learning Guy currently so he may be top tier. I wonder why though? Well on my end that is good.

He may end of high tier or so in the end. In SSFIF:AE 2012, I felt he was kinda slept on like alot of the cast. No surprise there since there are so many characters now.

Sucks that Hugo just as confirmed to be ass though. If alot of people calling him bad, he probably is and too be honest he doesn’t seem that impressive from what I seen of him.

USFIV should be good. I gonna pick up Guy, Yang, and maybe Chun.

Chun was my best in SSFIV AE, but I kinda dropped her. Maybe it times to pick her up again as well?

well as we spoke in many threads before top tier is never confirmed and even so it’s the player who matters I doubt theres much depth to your strategy opposed to say tokido which is currently rocking akuma in ae the best char and most versatile.

Right tiers up in the air now but these are interesting time to see where these tiers go. I like the build up process of people going down or up when a new FG comes out.

SFIV early tier was so vastly different late SFIV

I hope to pick up a high tier char but I think e ryu is gonna be pretty damn good considering he got nothing but buffs especially the health which made him a threat with less risk.

I feel the same way rhythmic, I pick a character and hope they are top tier rather than pick a character because they are top tier.

People probably think I’m a “low tier hero” because I play Cody but also bitch about him. But the fact is I just play who I like regardless of tiers lol. I wish Blazblue CP was on PC because most of the characters I’m most interested in are top tier XD. Kokonoe, Taokaka, Hazama, Hakumen, Nu-13, and Terumi. Likewise I play Baiken in Guilty Gear and she is upper mid tier last I heard. CvS2 my team is both low and top tier. Rock/Hibiki/Sakura, Rolento/Terry/Hibiki, Maki/Hibiki/Nakoruru, ect ect (I really like Hibiki :P)

I don’t have a ps3 stick or else is have gotten bbcp. Apparently I like top tier in anime games. At least I heard Valkenhayn and Rachel are high up there. I also play Millia and Eddie and Chie is most appealing to me having just started playing persona 4 golden. Pretty sure those are all top tier lol. If you count Marvel I’ve been playing vergil doom since day one. Only outlier there is Spiderman. So yeah. Outside of anime games low tier just tends to be the most fun.

Marvel my team would be some combination of Ammy/Dante/Vergil/Viewtiful Joe/Haggar/Taskmaster/Deadpool. Ammy and Dante for sure in every team lol. I loved their respective games so much. Okami in my top 10 favorite games of all time, and Dante is just such a perfect fit for Marvel and I own all of the DMC games (Except DmC). If they make a Marvel 4 I really hope Dante comes back. Even if Vergil doesn’t Dante should, he is simply too perfect of a fit for the series style of combat. I just wish they had included a Royal Guard counter and a quick silver 2-3 bar hyper where he like freezes the screen entirely for 4 seconds and can do anything he wants. No gravity or reeling animations so it makes totally new combos possible. However it’d have like a cooldown period on top of the cost so he could only do it once every like 30seconds even if he had the meter. And he would build no meter during the freeze. Something like that. Give Dante ALL THE MOVES! Lol

Viewtiful Joe I’m a little sad that Mach Speed wasn’t an install hyper like Slow-mo. Also Zoom would have been great for trolling, make it so that the opponent can’t see their own character. Also in Slow his attacks should have been able to reflect non-beam projectiles like in the game

KOF I play a mix of top and bottom tier as well. Shen is one of my favs (no surprise given my like of Cody :P), along with Iori, EX Iori, and Kyo all top tiers but I also really like a lot of other chars. Elisabeth is low tier and I love her style, Chin I highish from what I know, Terry is mid, I dunno where Leona is she is one of the only charge characters I’ve ever really liked. Ash is a lot of fun but I just don’t have the patience to really learn his combos lol. Vice I like but I preferred her in CvS2

Anyways, getting off topic.

I think Rolento will be really strong in USF4 if he isn’t overly nerfed once the console port comes out. I’m really looking forward to playing him and really NOT looking forward to fighting against him. Sort of like Seth or El Fuerte, fun to play AS annoying to fight against. No surprise there given his mobility and jumpiness. I do wish they had given him the scouter jump so he could play more fast offense but eh, his rolls and pogo are going to be obnoxious enough :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh man. Think of what slow missiles do in VJ and imagine punching hidden missiles. It’d be instant death.

Juri is all that matters. Bring the fuhajin kicking, shikusen diving, Feng Shui engine activating, Kasatushi goodness!

I pick a character and even before i would see tier list or high level videos, they always just so happen to be B tier or higher, never lower. Even as kid, i always chose the character with the best looks and special moves (superficial toward characters apparently) and it’s only fitting that they were top tier. Twisted theory: It’s like dev’s had so much fun with the cooler looking characters, they made them high/top tier in accident. Then when they get to developing the bottom row of characters, they are like… " I’m still getting paid for this right? yawn* I just wanna finish this up and get back to home for dinner already." Or a group says " i call dibs on Vergil, you guys can balance rocket racoon, ghost rider or something…" lmao

Look at the difference
Yun, C. Viper, Iori, Kyo, Dante, Zero

OR

Dhalsim, Honda, Twelve, Sean, Dan, Ghost Rider (LETS SAY THESE CHARACTERS WERE TOP TIER)

I would never touch an S tier Honda, over a B tier Yun… Eww…

There are plenty of cool low tier characters and plenty of stupid high tier ones.
