I don’t think they’re nerfing Gen even more if Xian wins, on the other hand…

I root for momochi!!

momochi with killer stare he wants it

GLORIOUS NIPPON!

is this the first ever win for Ken in a major tournament?

Just be glad the patch is already gold, too late to sneak in more nerfs.

I guess its time to nerf Ken, since he’s broken!

Was that supposed to be charlie with a diamond stuck in his forehead?

HALF A MILLION DOLLARS!

500k god damn. I’m maining Evil Ryu now.

Why not let Daigo and Justin play the first SFV game? Who gives a shit about Mike and Peter?

LOL pasta bowl chunli

Probably because they havent played the game and would spend the entire time figuring out what all this new shit is. Whereas Peter and Miek Russ have already played it

Chun Li’s animations look fine so far but Ryu’s looks like he has a stick up his azz, but SFV is still early in development so I can’t judge it too hard. I’m really hoping they move away from the SF2/Alpha cast and more forward with the SF3 cast. With that being said, I’m all for resurrected/cyborg/android/ whatever the hell he is Charlie. Maybe Gill and the Illuminati brought him back from the grave.

Assuming split pot on the 500K where 1st place takes around half, thats on the level of payout for World Championships on League of Legends, conservatively. 1 million for winning league team split between 5 players… even split means 200k.

It looks like Capcom is starting to dipping deeper to committing on the competitive aspect of their product. I’m excited to see fierce competition for next year.

Another interesting thing would be Capcom Cup vs Evo for the world premiere fighting game tournament for SF. CC obviously has the higher payout at this point, has a system to restrict to the best players to compete. But EVO setup is classic, anyone can join to compete for the best, a story taken straight out of a book. A tournament where serious upsets and no names can come out to the spotlight, helps keep the scene very very fresh. CC will never have that.

Personally I wish EVO to get more funding.

Momochi had 1.5 bars exactly at the throw. I think if he did a normal jump attack into crouch MK, fireball, he wouldn’t get the 2 bars for FADC. He had the presence of mind to calculate exactly what he’d need to do for exactly 2 bars, which was a jump tatsu as a combo starter. Unbelievable awareness in that situation.

Ryan Hart and PR Rog’s play exceeded my expectations of them at this tournament.

I’m disappointed that a number of players had to counterpick or choose “strange picks” to win against players they weren’t confident against.

I didn’t like how many people challenged Rose’s ultra…the risk/reward is just way against you, and attempted to counter it almost always ended in a damaging combo by Rose…I think this is the main reason Nishikin lost, I’m disappointed in that choice even though aside from that, he played his match well.

lol emil you’re alive

Here is my theory on that 500k payout for Capcom Pro Tour 2015

Same format as 2014 with 10 Premiere Tournaments again with a ton of ranking tournaments. Remember how those premiere tournaments got 2k added to the pot bonus? I think they’re going to up it to 20k+. Now winning SCR, Final Round, or SEA Major gets you EVO money except you don’t have to go through a crazy 2,000 man bracket. Win a 200 man tourney and you’re walking away with around 10k. If every premiere event got 20k, that still leaves about 300k for Capcom Cup itself. I’d like to see at top 8 pay out at that point. You don’t get paid just for making it, you gotta do some work and win a couple of games to finish in the money. But at least it’ll be more spread out then this year where it was only top 3. And the winner of it all still walks away with at least 100k(but probably more), not as much as your number but still a crazy high figure to advertise.

Since Sony is sponsoring the cash prize I figure Capcom Cup will be on PS3/PS4 next year. Not a big deal as long as they don’t try to get community tournaments to switch over because that would be really expensive or just not possible. But assuming SCR is the first premiere tournament next year and it’s in February again we might only be 2 months away from CPT 2015. And I’m very much looking forward to it as a viewer because the game has changed now that everybody knows about that big fat number that Capcom threw at us not too long ago.

Capcom Cup should have 32 qualifier spots, like Arcsys Revolution Cup.

It doesn’t make sense that there were so many qualifier spots in the US but only a couple in Japan…it really limits which players will have a chance to enter. Most top Japanese players can’t really travel, so their hopes are to win the 1-2 qualifier spots in their own country and that’s it. Same goes for top players in other countries (Singapore, Korea, etc). Needs more qualifier spots.

If the price is 500k they should definitely make the tournament bigger invite more top players
