Ive been playing on the PS3 this week and connected it via Ethernet and they are very similar in the lag problems.
Not has bad as the PCs “Waiting for the other player.” but still noticeable worse netcode than AE.

That message pop ups up a lot on the PS3. But it has a whole lot of other problems, its got a lot of input lag where timing all the combos is a whole lot tighter
than XBox & PC. Teching throws on PS3 is LOADS harder as well. Then there’s the graphical frame drops and slow down.

Ultra SF4 is a beta version game released 3 months too early.

Hardly having an issues with the steam transition.

FPS with solid strategy and tactics is CSGO.

DotA 2, CSGO, Street Fighter, and Chess are all master tier competitive skill based games.

Sorry to continue to derail thread. As I said before Steamworks is working pretty well for me. Patches rolling out weekly is nice. Seems like they used Ultra net code so it’s not just a straight transition from GFWL to Steam it’s more than that. Makes me happy looks like they’re laying the foundation for a solid Ultra release. Good stuff. Most issues seem (and likely are given the nature of PCs) software (drivers) and hardware issues. If you have problems please post your specs to an official thread somewhere they no doubt need the info.

Sorry to all those negatively affected by the update, that sucks major wind. Gotta be really frustrating. Hang in there.

…don’t forget “I have a bad internet connection so I want persistent input delay in all my matches” issues.

There’s still some issues to fix
Setting max ping requests in steam to 1500 helps with lag for whatever reason, so they need to take a look at that
Disabling steam overlay helps with lag? not sure
Running the game as admin is required due to a memory leak or something, it fixes the audio bugs at least

Other than that, it is working better than the gfwl version when you have done that, for me anyway
YMMW, but I have a 100mbit fiber connection and pretty much only play people in nearby countries with similar connections

What I dont understand is how Capcom cant manage to provide a service comparable to GGPO. They are a multi billion dollar company with three quarters of a billion in anual revenues. It should be easy for them to implement a service as simple as this one, or at least provide a comparable tool. But I guess online features are neglectable in their opinion.

example: they did the button config in character select everyone asked for it, but you can’t unmap/disable buttons, so you still get button checks at tournaments
they didn’t even stop to think for a second and figure out the common scenarios that feature will be used in

they can’t even figure out their own fucking game, they said they removed the vast majority of unblockables, but sneaked them back in…

this just show that its not the same dev team who worked on all the previous SF4 versions, Dimps was godlike with bugless/very rar bugs on release

This game is ruined for me on PC now due to the Steamworks matchmaking implementation. All I get is a bunch of morons from Europe trying to play against me when I am in Western Canada. It is too time consuming to find a decent match.

If this pile of garbage is them working hard I dont want to see what happens if they get sloppy. Their netcode has always been ass. Meanwhile there are a bunch of small companies who somewhat manage to provide a more than decent experience, some even mimic offline game pretty damn close.

Thats the biggest problem the FGC has. Capcom simply doesnt have a competent competitor. If you dont have someone you need to fight over customers with, you dont have any incentive to improve. I wish some PC developers would take matters into their own hands, develop a decent title and school Capcom on how to make a competitive experience enjoyable online. Unfortunately that will never happen.

Yeah FGC has it drilled into their brains that Capcom games are the best. They can make some pretty games that’s for sure. Sure you can bash on how ugly the 3D models are on SF4/SfxT, but 2.5D really drew in a lot of casuals to the FGC. One of my friends saw me playing KoF and wanted nothing to do with it, just by looking at the beautiful sprites, then he saw 3D model Ryu’s Ultra 1 and got wet. (what a shame) Something about Capcom’s art style… i don’t know… Even Umvc3 (fuck you, i understand you wanna be the cool guy and say that games ass) has beautiful looking characters… Have you seen Chun Li and C. Viper on there? Too godlike… Now we are at a point where every game has a low player population cause ALMOST everyone is playing USF4 now, and that’s pretty much ALL they want to see now. Fuck you guys, you did this to yourselves.

I think some characters look good in SFIV (like Sagat), others just look okay at best (the style really highlights how bland Ryu is). Definitely prefer sprites for fighting games.

I’m not having too bad of a game. It’s actually playable now unlike at the start of the conversion, but I’m still losing rounds because people are lame assholes and insist on attacking even while there’s a lag spike, or they’re lagging and I’m not. Pretty dumb.

This guy is a piece of shit, as you might guess by his SN. Purposely lags to makes ultras unblockable (lags after super freeze to make the block input drop).
