I assume you meant Farcryer :slight_smile: I’m also curious where he gets his textures, since they always look awesome. I know he mentioned that his ā€œrealā€ mods use images of people with acne, interestingly enough.

Guys is there any other way to manipulate EMG files in stages since piemontes viewer has some issues with certain emg-s?

@HunterK sorry my bad for the confusion. yea I noticed that when I opened it up and looked at it in piecemontee. I have been messing around all night with my Rog skins, cause I would like them to look smooth and nice this is what I got so far( I don’t know maybe I am super picky cause side views like this look good I guess but when I see victory screens its not as smooth on the robotics), still haven’t figured out the real skin yet.

Farcryer appears to be using a similar approach to a lot of high resolution modelers when texturing their stuff in the pre-Zbrush days. You use elements of photograph sourced texture as overlays, and kinda blend it into your other texture elements. Not literally pasting photograph material into the texture wholesale (straight untreated photosourced textures usually look pretty bizarre), but using hints of it to give that microdetail. It’s how it looks to me at least.

Ok getting it out of the way and onto someone else’s hands:

Modified HUD texts - Tons of disclaimers, you might well not want to put this one on the wiki as is, it really never got finished.

Most Arcade/Trial/Versus mode standardised texts are changed to the new font, ā€œpress startā€ and others located in different .emz are not.
PP/BP display is changed to new font, gamertags are not.
ā€œLink Matchā€ is not updated, I’m not certain it’s even used outside of actual cabinet installations, so I just left it alone.
I’m not even certain about the placement of names and offline score/online wins counter for people using default lifebars, it was made strictly with the smooth bars mod in mind.
English localisation only.
If someone wants to take a bash at finishing this off, you are VERY welcome to go ahead and do so.

Edit: Naw, doesn’t sound rude man. I did some goofing around with Cammy and a Chun-li (two menus, not together) today, those are last couple I’m intending to finish for the moment, they just lack some background stuff currently. Will get to it soon as I come up with something nice.

Can you do the text mod for other language ?

Rather than using a general font for everything, SF4 uses actual pictures of the text for every word on the screen. So basically redoing the text for every phrase in every language would be a really long haul. If it was just a case of doing the whole font once over, I’d surely do it, but the way the game is built isn’t that way. Also, I can only speak english and am pretty ignorant, so you would probably end up with like player being called ā€œLobster 1ā€ and shit like that.

As it is, would take a pretty long time, so leaving it at that I’m afraid. It’s pretty easy to change the fonts though if anyone wanted to try for their own localisation.

since that text was made for the smooth bar mod, did you ever actually upload the smooth bars mod or does that already come with it?

The wiki has smooth and retro bars on there yeah. Smooth is the one in the screenshot, retro is kinda more like the stock bars but straightened.

If you mean the high-resolution textures, I have a tutorial on making those. You can make them as large as you like, so they look better in the closeups.

@HunterK, I did use your Hires model tutorial and I scaled it to about 2048, Lol I havent experimented with larger scales yet cause I wasn’t sure what the upper limits are.

@Augh, yeah I have been using the images as overlays to create the kind of effect that I wanted,but I don’t have that level of technical skill more skilled modders have. Lol I roomed with Illustration and 3d modelers in College so I tend to be very critical on details

Heh, you can make them as big as you please, but the sizes start getting unwieldy pretty quickly.

You could also modify the normal map and/or the specularity map if the robot parts are too tattoo-ey (i.e., not enough differentiation from the other skin) for you.

I just thought it would be good to let you know that the original capcom skin for ibuki is not the original capcom skin. It is the mask less skin. Next time I will be sure the follow the 100 warnings and back up the file.
