USF4 | PC Custom Skin Thread

Umm, If you go to the link I referred from Hunterk’s 1st post we can do it ourselves now in like 3 steps.

how do I put all part skin-colored clothing or lighter colors to makoto
not stuck with leftover another color?

It’s gonna be normal maps, materials, or both. They both work with color maps to create the texture effects you see on the character.

Look for parts of the area of cloth and skin in the DDS, compare closely with two windows (if different DDS) and go looking for the right color. It is not difficult but if a delicate job. If not done well, a light change in the environment can wreak havoc aesthetic.

Some tutorials on that? and the map does not work for me

Taking just a quick look in ssf asset explorer, it seems to yeah be material based. The legs emg has a body material and a tape material listed, so most likely the submesh for the tape wrapping her upper leg has a differing material. If the difference is more noticeable on some stages but not others(?), this is pretty likely. You could try using NanjouJ’s material tool (http://aemods.pbworks.com/w/page/42053948/aetools#NanjouJsMaterialsTool), copy the “body” material attributes to the material named “tape”, see what you get.

Might get you mostly fixed up, can’t really promise anything though.

Edit: Oh ok, I just worked out why you’re kinda censoring the pictures hahahahaha, call me slow or naive. Replace “tape” with “inner”, in the text above. Or actually forget that whole thing, and just poke around with the mat editor. It’s hard to tell really which alt model you’re messing with, so it’s probably best to just check around and work out for yourself which materials you need to alter.

I give up my head will explode I can not
and academic to give me that the shadow is the figure
I will mourn it’s frustrating

The shadow you’re seeing is AO = Ambient Occlusion.

http://aemods.pbworks.com/w/page/42053948/aetools#AOExtractor sloth made new tools to handle them, see if you get anywhere. Kinda more difficult with language barrier, I know it’s frustrating.

I made a couple more training stage mods using HDRemix assets:
Guile Stage

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?urxcg3yu0lgvurt
and Ken Stage

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?emjg8ra49ysyrqs

I may try them again using one of sensibeat’s other training stage templates, but this is it for now. No luck on Cammy’s stage; it always looks like crap.

To be honest the whole character modding is cool, but the only thing I’m really interested in is the menu mods, is there any way you can make a tutorial on how to change the title screen/main menu/ and the other menus. I want to make my own, but i don’t even know what program to download or what files to touch. im a modding nub :(:(, and i have visited the wiki, but still dnt know what program to snatch up.

@LeoKusanagi
The easiest thing to do is find a pre-existing mod for one of the menus you want to mod, then open its files in piecemontee’s Asset Explorer (aka SF4Viewer) and dig around in there for DDS textures to export. You’ll need Nvidia’s Windows Texture Viewer tool to see what kind of DDS compression/format to use and GIMP/Photoshop with a DDS plugin (or Paint.NET can handle them on its own).

Once you’ve modified the DDS texture and saved it in the proper format, you can use the Asset Explorer to inject the new textures in place of the old.

The process itself is close enough to skinning that I would recommend reading that tutorial and maybe mastasushi’s portrait modding tutorial.

It’s on my list of garbage I need to do, make some more easily wielded templates and some basic directions, trying to get to it. Meantime yeah as hunter said the majority of it is finding/creating assets (backgrounds can be kinda a bitch if you aren’t much of a painter, hi me), and using any of the ones thrown out so far as a base.

Really intending to get around to it.

Edit: K started doing it now >_> Only covering main menu for the moment but it’ll be something at least.

Anyone up for making a Cammy 1942 Alt? Don’t think it would be too hard to do but would be a sweet alt.

Some image as an example?

But with tits.
