I found this on Ryu’s change thread. Could any of you guys with SSFIV copy give us the list for Ken as well please? Pretty please~~~ I hope I’m not asking too much. >:D

Well ryu’s are saying his mp srk is fine as in SFIV invulnerability.

Ryu basically just traded DP’s. Fierce is now for combos, and MP SRK which was originally useless is now your anti air. IT has a ton of invincibility and will hit ANYTHING. It’s Very good.

And Metsu Shoryu is really good too.

And I swear to God if I hear any Ken’s complain I’m going to slap them. He’s MUCH better in this game.

i got the chance to play super last night, and i must say Ken just feels better this time =].
his variation of kicks[f.mk, f.hk, b.mk] seem to be tweaked to perform better and his dps are much more useful overall.

my 2 cents… oh and crossup ex tatsu to ultra 2 is straight butter man, straight butter =].

to bad i won’t have my hands on it again till release it was just too fun.!!

yeah i heard hes much better in super then vaniila. heard people talking about sanford kelly saying that hes better then ryu which i hope not cuz if so here comes the ryu scrubs. if kens is for a fact tournament material i wonder if edma will pick him back up his ken was beast but i doubt he will since akuma might be the best character in super.

I doubt we have to worry about the majority of Ryu players changing to ken. Basically most of them like to run to the corner so ken won’t fit their “playstyle” lol

Yeah I just looked back on it and you’re right. I could have sworn i read that somewhere official though.

Go away.

I was really hoping for Jab to sweep to be a little bit more reliable but what can you do…I’m not gonna complain my only gripe really is his overheads. Almost every other fucking character in the game can combo their overhead whats so bad about ken getting his bnb off an overhead  juri and adon have overheads into ultra, I’m sick of hearing that would be overpowered for ken  I said I wasnt gonna complain and then I go on a rant haha

Well I can combo st.jab into U2 and close st.mk into U2 so I don’t think its my execution so yea it looks like sweep is still 8 frames and does 10 less damage. I also tried far st.mp into U2 but the st.mp pushes the opponent back to far for the first of U2 to hit.

Akuma is going to be much better now with all the nerfs. His low health will last him a bit longer and he didn’t really get nerfed so I’d say he’ll be pretty good. I don’t think Edma will change.

Anyways what pisses me off is that although Ken has barely changed, he’s better sure but still not “top tier”, everyone is dick riding him now.

We’ll see soon enough if people jump on him. I think people will flock to Dudley, Juri, Cody and Hakan though (Hakan kind of sucks though :shake:)

It’s a 5-5. I’m almost positive. Ryu has the better fireball and both have great AA games. It comes down to footsies. Which is pretty much all he needed. He seems right inbetween ST and 3s which is really good.

No.

yeah, I agree, I really just wanted sweep faster though. Other than that, I think Ken will stack up nicely.

@Spy, Ken with an OH into Ultra would be too sweet. Since they made him not a pure rush character, I guess they decided it would be too much. But at least you can SRK after it.

I mean OH–Lk–Lp–C.HP–Special is kinda beast-like for a character that can control space. Ken just didn’t control space correctly in vanilla. it fits in with Juri/Adon better. I still think his sweep should be identical as Ryu though, I’m not gonna complain too much about it, but Im not happy:arazz: darnit!! lol

I also don’t get why Target Combo wasn’t made into something more than a jumpin hit confirm move, but it does seem to not whiff when you are close, so it does serve a purpose now. I will definitely use it on safe jumps and X-up.

I have a few questions for those of you who have managed to secure the game already:

  1. Is lp.DP safe on block now? If you land it at max range, can you be punished or are they limited to a 3 frame start up punish?

  2. I was watching a few new vids of Ken and I noticed that the recovery on his fierce DP seems improved also. Can anyone else verify this?

  3. Has Ken’s cl.st.RH been nerfed damage wise or is it still the go-to punish starter?

The new Ken footage I’m talking about is here (look at 30 secs backdash after fierce DP):

Still absolutely killing myself for Max to give us some more info and new vids. I’m literally peeing myself with anticipation!!!

lp.dp isn’t safe on block but it is safer than in vanilla sf4. The opponent will have to be relatively quick to punish it but its not like you can throw it out all day and get away with it.

I’m not sure about the recovery of fierce dp but that should matter anyway since you should be hitconfirming or FADCing it

cl.st RH is still 110 iirc but RH tastu and ex dp both do 180 so the best punish is cl.RH > ex tatsu.

Also I don’t see the point of ex dp anymore. Now that it does 180 damage you might aswell just use mp dp for anti airing as it probably wont get beat out now with its improved invincibility and no point using it for punishing because ex tastu does more damage. I don’t think it has anymore invincibilty either because I lost to Sagats ex TU with it after a tatsu. Hopefully the start up has been increased or something.

jab shoryu has MUCH better recovery. If you dont punish immediately its pretty safe. its definately not safe on block though.

His fierce shoryu isnt safer he goes the same height as before so if you can block it punishment is assured. The recovery seems the same.

cl RH is 110 dmg. so i would use that to start combos whenever possible.

YES! Back to ST style.

Yes, ex tatsu does more damage IF all the hits connect, but if the knee strike whiffs (losing out on 60 damage?), it would have been better to do the ex DP for max damage on the end of a combo, no?

What damage does Ken’s target combo do? Does it still register as 2 moves for scaling purposes? The only reason I asked about the cl.st.RH was whether it is still the better option over the TC as a punish…

Another quick question… and this is a very random one, but has anyone checked to see if Ken can cancel a jumping normal into his air tatsu in SSF4?

Only thought about this after seeing the 2 vids of Adon and Juri making a mockery of people trying to OS or low block by cancelling a jumping normal into special…

Ken combo off his overhead?

Faster recovery would be very useful for setting up Ken’s ambiguous OH/fake OH > cr.lk/step-kick/ follow-up after they tech the landing from the fierce DP. In Vanilla, it’s like a 1 frame set-up window and easy to misstime and eat the cr.lk/throw from the opponent!!

yeah i’ll be playing super tonight, definitely just running lots of ken. I’ll post some shit later.

I’m definitely going to check and see if f.dp is a solid AA now, if c.jab,c.fierce is an easier link… and imma see how u2 setups are… hype hypeeee
