Just finished playing some super and kens lp dragon punch is nasty, I rarely traded. It definitely has more invincibility frames. Wasnt able to try out invincibility on fp version though (i forgot)

The game feels tighter, things aren’t as easy to pull off, especially when characters are in juggle state.

Gonna play tomorrow for allot longer so I’ll come back and tell you guys more stuff.

lol when the stage is loading in Arcade mode the 360 gives a disc read error. Oh well :sad: PS3 is where it’s at for me anyways I was just playing at a friend’s house.

My friend told me FP was better but we didn’t try to trade when I played with him.

Also ultra 2 is kind of weird, sometimes it looks like it moves across the screen fast but sometimes it looks super slow. I think maybe on hit it moves fast and the first kick comes out fast but when whiffed it moves slower.

Ken`s U2 is doing 471 dmg on my build? is this correct…? I thought it was 450?

from what I saw on blackstarninja’s video from today on this Ken forum, it was 488 to be exact ( give it + or - 1 i guess lol)

c.mk = 60 (yes, nerfed)
Hado = 60
Ultra 2 = 488

100 * 100 percent = 100
60 * 100 percent = 60
60 * 80 percent = 48
488 * 60 percent = 292.8 = 293


Total = 501

On the build I played it does 480, U1 did 500, Ryu’s U2 did 503.

Thx for the vids Blackstarninja. It looks like Ken’s FB is faster frame-wise, but I heard that it moves faster like Ryu’s also.

That’s what I thought too. I heard the F. SRK does 160 and M. SRK does 140 in Super, but I guess not. F. SRK damage buff would’ve helped a lot though…

Faster and more invincibility frames on L. SRK will definitely help against Dhalsim. It’ll also be good for reversals too.

Co-sign. Can somebody confirm if Zangief can reversal Ultra after getting hit by Ken’s HK Tatsu?

That’s terrible… If the Sweep is 7 frames and close/far ST. LP is +7 on hit, it should be able to do it from any range.

You can do that in Vanilla. I was hoping Ken can C. MK > FB > FADC > Sweep anywhere.

Yeah, but Chun’s/Balrog’s FS. LP has to be REALLY far away. It looked pretty close for Ken’s FS. LP.

This also works in Vanilla. ST. LP is +7 on hit and FS. MK is 7 frame start-up.

haha cool vid man. In Vanilla, the most I linked off cross-up LK Tatsu was C. MK so I’m assuming it’s +4 on hit. If cross-up LK tatsu > Ultra II links in Super, I’m guessing we have more frame advantage on hit now.

EX Tatsu does 210 in Vanilla. They gave us more incentive to use EX Tatsu by nerfing the HK Tatsu…

Dhalsim actually got buffed.A couple of his normals do 30 more damage, and A LOT of them got 15 to 20 more damage.Also his frames and yoga blast got like 40 damage buff.Those are ACTUALLY buffs.

so i played a few hours of ssf4 and these are my thoughts…
general thoughts
-with so many little tweaks and new ultras, it feels like an entirely new game
-the execution felt different too. the execution felt more strict, like i had to be more precise.
-i thought the game really seemed faster, my friends thought the same thing.
-ryus fireballs seem to be really really fast now too.
-jump attacks are a big thing in ssf4 now, its so easy to stuff anti airs.
ken specific thoughts
-i hope im wrong but i felt like his step kick was slower :frowning:
-i wasnt able to EX srk> fadc> mp. srk for some reason (i noticed this during a match. i didnt retry it in training mode)
-his ultra 2 is pretty badass for sure.
-i find myself saving meter more now to make sure i have FADC> Ultra 2
-first hit of fp.srk (fire stun) seems to be the same so its still not worth it to FADC out of the first hit of fp.srk cause the link is so tight

ill post if i think of anymore or feel free to ask questions.

Ken can link cr. jab off CH thunder kick. so i was able to do TK, cr. jab, cr. strong fierce srk. if you do it meaty you can go for jab cr. fierce… I did it on geif so im not sure if its only on him. Ill try again tomorrow. or later today i guess since its 6am and i have been playing since yesterday.

man I’ve been gone for the longest time. but I’m glad to hear all the Ken info. i can’t wait for SSF4 now hey lilsicx, maximillian, and LostLegd I’ll be back with u guys when super comes out. the only reason I’m not online now is bcuz my SF4 is literally broken in half [ouch]. but yeah I’m stayin on top of my game and i can’t wait to see you guys online, and off.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who felt that execution was “different.” When I first played Ken, I did cross up j.mk, c.lk, c.lp fp Shoryu. I hit it on the first try, but it just felt different. It was mid match, so I didn’t go play with it in training, but it did seriously feel a little different. Could have just been me.

I, too, felt step kick got a slight nerf. Unless Ibuki’s upper is 2 frames, I could have sworn my friend reversal dped me after a blocked step kick. But again, it was my first time playing against Ibuki, while he had plenty of time to practice before, so I was a little lost as to some of her crap… still won though. :stuck_out_tongue:

I wish they gave him one more frame of stun on the first hit of fierce shoryu. One of his trials is Fp shoryu, FADC, Fp shoryu, FADC, Fp shoryu. I did it by canceling the first one after the 1st hit, then letting the second one get 2, then finishing it with the last one. I dont really see the point of something like that in a real match though… I guess they’re just showcasing that it’s still a one frame link to get that c.lk in there. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yea theres really no usefulness to that anyway…if you wanted to cancel into a special and continue your combo you could just do a hoboken. Very rarely I might fadc f.srk on the first hit, but then the c.lk plink saves the day.

It’s good if you want to mash through a string and get a tatsu off. In training mode, I can occasionally get in fp shoryu fadc first hit, c.jab, c.fierce, tatsu. In vanilla, it was a good way to get that big tatsu damage from an invincible move, and it does more for Ken’s game than fp shoryu fadc mp shoryu or fake ultra… But again, it’s generally not worth the effort. If you mess up, you wasted two bars and you’re probably getting hit, too…

I honestly don’t care about that long string into ultra. I’m more interested in using the ultra 2 within my crossover shenanigans. In other words, Kara Throw, immediate Fierce DP crossover, low meaty short, standing jab hit confirm, low forward, fireball > FADC > Ultra 2.

do you land and make both QCF, or does the QCB from the tatsu buffers to the other side???
