USF4 Guile Video Thread: Random Health Nerf Edition

Me getting destroyed by Pie Poem’s Balrog from last week’s NLBC. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. lol

(this is coming from a rush down guile player and you ARE better than me anyway lol)This is what I noticed. I think you could have taken some risks like jumping light kick cross ups. U might get head butt’d if you time it wrong though. Neutral jump in front of him sometimes on wake up to bait something out. Also mash jabs to interrupt his hits. Your throws were obvious too. He mauled you in the corner lol. Poem realized everytime balrog threw out a move you kept on pressing a button immediately after. Those moves were safe but you kept on trying to get a counter hit. He blocked the first match then he realized what you were doing and JUST DID IT lol.

I haven’t played poem at Next Level before.

Thanks. I honestly suck with aggressive tactics. I try to get reads off of my opponents and instill fear in them by moving forward towards them. Some times works, other times it doesn’t. rofl

EDIT: I actually did try to do a cross up lk in the first round, unfortunately Poem read it and intercepted me. I go against mashing jab. I prefer to time them so it hits perfectly. I seriously hate mashing in general. Lastly, I guess my style of play is considered counter hit style? I always look for openings where I can get a counterhit in. Even if it’s with jab.

Definitely thanks for the input. I’ll keep these in mind.

I learned that aggressive style when I used to play Imstilldadaddy online. It is surprising cause most people think I’m gonna just back up and zone. Believe me I HATE mashing too but when I realize they are doing it all the time I try to beat them to it. I kinda do it back as a troll lol. I think I worded it wrong. I agree you should time them perfect. I guess I really meant to say it hit jab a lot of times to break up an armor or focus attack or do your light punch into heavy that I see you do.

I’m not saying what your are doing is wrong, I’m just saying he figured out what you were doing so you have to change it up to surprise him. This is just my observation. Someone better might say something else

On another note Guile needs another damn special. It has been too long

I also quite like your use of FADCing normals into throw, don’t see that too often.

Thanks. When I FADC my normals, I kind of use it to see if my opponent is crouch/stand teching or not. If they tech the throw attempt, I’ll save that info for later on in the match and set up a counterhit combo off of it the next time around. Like Sweep > FADC > CH Close St.Hp/ CH Upside Down Kick > follow up combo. It’s dirty but it works so well.

Old footage that I found from AE PC days. I would practice certain setups so much and then attempt to land them in ranked/casual matches immediately. RIP Ultra 1.

Here’s all the footage from my EVO pools. I went 4-2, and yah, I count my bye’s because I’m a bum like that. Technically, it was my “worst” evo because I didn’t get out of my pools. However Street11 came with the tech and it was pretty godlike. I know what I need to fix and I feel real good about my losses. I was executing good and playing good. I just need to step it up. Tell me what you guys think.

Also, here’s a money match with Ryan hart.

Lol…wow, we actually play alot alike. Most of the decisions you were making were the exact thoughts that were going through my head. Only thing I have to say is that your hit confirming off of UDK kind of needs work.

About our matches, your decisions were mostly on point. The only problem was that they were based on Gouken without his gdlk EX Tatsu. If you were aware of it I think you would’ve beaten me pretty good. I don’t blame you for it seeing how almost no1 uses that.
I would personally go even more offensive against Gouken, using more normals, trying to walk him down to the corner. I think you got the basic idea.

Off topic, but I still think Gen-Guile MU is in Guile’s favour :stuck_out_tongue:

^ Yeah, but were you playing with your mouth?? Broly really impresses me. Sweet comeback in the third, man. I didn’t think you needed to use those two stocks of EX meter at the end of the second.
