UPDATED: Pownz E-sports Championship - Street Fighter IV

Hey RXS, any plans on possibly implementing this system into the circuit and other future tournaments you are gonna have?

This seems like a godly system

way ahead of you! :stuck_out_tongue:

Will I need to pre-register for POWNZ in Hamilton and will it be 360 only? Cause I don’t have a stick for 360.

the pre-register will be available for the Hamilton a few weeks before the event.

stay tuned for more info

Alrighty!

man, if weather permits, i’m tempted to head to waterloo. haven’t been back to waterloo is years.

Did you go to school here? If so, you will see that the university looks quite different then the last time yu were here (I’m fourth year, and since my first year, they have constructed about 4 new buildings).

Either way though, please try and make it to the 'loo!

yea, i’m an 03 alumni. i’m sure there are plenty of changes.

I got a quick question. For major events like these is xbox360 the choice of platform ?

Throwing in my two cents but isn’t a ps3 better ? I mean less chance of RROD.

Also cuz I only got a ps3 stick

This has nothing to do with preference of hardware. Xbox 360 is used because Sony simply does not license the PS3 hardware for use in events like this. EVO is an exception because the equipment is provided by a third party that has licensing to do so (NAMCO).

Also RROD percentage rates are significantly lower than during first release. The majority of RROD’s now are pre-falcon chip XBOX’s and XBOX’s that have not been well cared for.

In regards to PS3 being better than 360 for SF. This is debatable. The PS3 version runs slightly slower than what the game should be. Also it is easier to extract footage for livestreaming purposes (PS3 does not natively support VGA which reduces the chance for lag, due to the removal of the need for scaling. Also it allows the players to play in HD and for us to record in SD with VGA).

So, when I go out to some ranbats or events will I need to buy a 360 stick (I play on PS3) or will there be an extra one I can use?

usually someone will be willing to lend you theirs… so long as your name isn’t Darthpaul

Ok, that’s good. I’ll end up buying my own in the long run though cause I’m sure that I’ll have a 360 with SSFIV and VF5 by the end of this year. :stuck_out_tongue:

Out of curiosity, what did Darthpaul do? lol

He was English. I dunno if that actually explains anything but that’s the explanation I’m willing to give.

I loaned him one of my sticks and he subsequently broke it.

What gave you this idea?

I know there was a speed test between the 360 and PS3 versions, but I haven’t seen one between the console and arcade versions.

Damn, that sucks.

oh god, thread is going to turn into a 360 vs ps3, please end it now. Both are good, he already explained why 360 is used instead of ps3. Please please please.

Xbox360 ftw

ps3 is the superior system.
