UPDATED: Pownz E-sports Championship - Street Fighter IV

What happened exactly last time? I had a friend tell me it was cancelled and then another gave me results so I’m confused.

At least there will be some real comp at Anime North in the case of this circuit. So many people come to register for SFIV and the majority them simply do not know how to play.

EDIT:
@Valaris: I run Video Games at Anime North, so long story short, what happened was, we had an entire side dedicated to people from Ottawa who brought WAY too much electronic equipment (which I was against from the start) and eventually we short-circuited the room TWICE during the SFIV tournament. During the time we had to get everything started again, (both times combined took well over 2 hours) much of registered participants had left.

I cancelled that tournament and ran another one for those that stuck around.

Sorry to get OT.

lol i think there will be a lot of…

“THAT WAS CHEAP”

being yelled.

In other news, assuming I have no exams around that time, I’ll probably show up for the one in Sauga. Not going to play, though.

I didnt know montreal had so many female players.

Sars:

If I never met you before, I’d think you’re a braindead child who needs to be watched 24 hours a day.

Good job RXS, Drekken, Nagata getting this sort of event going.
Hope it goes well. I might come down to some qualifiers to watch.
Keep up the good work building the community it needs it.

Thanks for rubbing it in…

ok lets keep the racist/stereotypical/profiling talk out.

this forum is just about street fighter, so lets keep it that way.
montreal: i know a lot of you and have a lot of respect as you guys are great players, but you HAVE to see that your argument has 0 merit.
it was never once stated that its a correct or accurate representation of canadian skill; it’s base (which I assume stems from its sponsorship) is from ontario.

props to everyone helping out and organizing, as I definitely share justin’s view of how important and monumental this event is. I will definitely be there for the 2nd, if for nothing else a couple hours.

Hey Cyrus! Whats up man its been a long time =)

Thats is the truth right there. Every fucking time we have beef all u guys can do is insult our culture…well go fuck urselves when u are good enough to be able to insult us on our skill then maybe MTL will have a liiiitle bit of respect for u guys. Untill then continue beeing scrubs if u wonder why MTL respects Team STC is bcuz they talk shit…but on SF SKILLS and they back their talk shit with MONEY not like u guys ur just pussies.

Yeah GTASF needs to come up with better comebacks for when MTLSF comes in to talk shit than “lol frenchies.” Shit’s just insulting and ignorant.

On the other hand, Montreal needs to step up and contribute something like this to the Canadian SF scene before talking shit to RXS, Nagata, and Pownz who have worked so hard to make something like this happen.

Shitting on their effort to include you guys in something that they didn’t even need to branch out of Ontario at all for, only makes you guys look like assholes. RXS has explained very clearly multiple times the logistics of why things worked out the way they did, and yet instead of taking that knowledge and using it to build some organization like this in your own community, you’ve decided to shit on their efforts to include you at all.

Not cool, brah.

hi smokey, hows the ice wine?

fk u veasna! made me lost $5 to ian cause i bet on you that will win last montreal tournment, go fking scrub my toilet, scrub.

Hey, I take offense to this. =p

But good job RXS, Nagata, and Drekken for taking on the burden of organizing and running something this huge. I know it takes a lot of hard work to pull something like this together so I wish you guys the best of luck.

Best course of action? let them QQ. Should they stop QQing and stop listening to their own voice as though it’s THE truth and actually do something that contributes to all this, great.

As much as I wanted Tekken 6 to be part of this (will it be at one point?) We have to appreciate what RXS/Pownz/Nagata and whoever is helping (how the fack do I help out?) for what they’re doing for us as this shit is freaking great.

All this hate…

man im so drunk right now i think i have the confidence to win GF… but im too wasted to actually do it and i play bad

LOL but im so stoned

My first post was a clear attempt at talking shit to bring the Hype(and clearly show Montreal’s enthusiasm in participating in that event), if you’ve never seen a post like that from me then i guess you started playing SF in 2009.

My second post was a request (legitimate or not) to have a qualifier in Ottawa as it is far less dramatic for us to attend than any other said location. (we dont have to pick up a hotel room if we attend a tourney there).

I wasn’t criticizing the people organizing the event in any way shape or form, or downsizing their effort to include us. If it was interpreted as such im sorry, I realise how much effort it requires to host and organise such an event.

But when is all said and done, we’ll take that money home.

Next time Ottawa! Email us with possible venues and make sure you stop and talk to Drekken and I when we’re in MTL on the 9th so we can get to know you!

All this is possible due to existing friendships and tournament relations.

oh so now your raging on 09’er’s now HUH?!

I like kermit… i fail at french… i like poutine… i hate these gay characters

I like to burn… SO DOES MTL

stop hating and start playing.

I just want to state how proud and excited we at Pownz are to be organizing this event for the Canadian community at Large. We understand that there are a few stops that didn’t get included in this event but I want you all to be aware that we have no intention of making this a 1 off event. It will take the support of all competitive players and fans to put forth the effort and time required to make this something large enough to span across all provinces. We look forward to putting initiatives in motion that will better grow our community.
