I really wish they would remove the loading screen image. It really breaks up the pace. I am somewhat confused that they didn’t think about that during development. I timed most of the transitions at no more that 3-5 seconds and to be honest, that isn’t shit. At the end of a round freeze, start loading, fade, transition, fade in, start… Simple. No need for a black screen and certainly no need for a loading image. That would really help with the pace in my opinion. As it is I am jealous every time I see the arcade version in action. A little bit of work into masking loading times would have been really appreciated, but a simple “remove loading screen” dlc would be a quick and acceptable fix.

Fix the fucking game Snkp.
actually, i dont have any problems with BB (it plays like if the other player was right next to me the 95% of the time), and HD remix plays smooth too (similar to BB), maybe the only game with i have issues some times is SF4, but the major part of the time it plays in acceptable margins of playability (with barely input lag to non, depends of the person, lets say that like 60% of my games are smooth), i dont know about marvel, since im not planning to buying it (not really a fan of it -_-)
btw im on PSN
More updates! This time directly from SNK!
"Dear King of Fighters XII fans,
This weeks launch of THE KING OF FIGHTERS XII represents the culmination of four years of hard work to deliver a rebirth for the KOF franchise, but several key issues have arisen since its release that must be addressed. Rest assured that SNK PLAYMORE is fully committed to supporting the King of Fighters XII community by working to further improve the gameplay experience.
Were pleased to announce that the next software update will address the animation glitch that users have encountered in which Elisabeths character sprite becomes frozen for the duration of the round when the character Raiden performs a specific move on her.
While software update solutions are being devised, we can offer some tips to those users who are experiencing exceptionally poor online performance. First, we suggest limiting the number of players in a room to two, as the addition of a spectator with a slow connection can currently create latency for all users in the room. Also, if your Internet connection is configured behind a firewall using NAT Type 3, we recommend reconfiguring your setup to utilize NAT Type 1 (for PS3) or an open setting (for Xbox 360).
Also, wed like to take this opportunity to explain one feature of the Xbox 360 version. When playing online with the Xbox 360 version of KOF XII, players who continually battle the same opponent in multiple Ranked Matches in the same lobby will not receive additional True Skill Rank Points. This is an intentional decision to keep players from abusing the system to reap massive rewards by preying on one player. If you want to earn True Skill Rank Points, you must make a new room or leave simply leave the room and come back.

Where is this option, im in the network settings and I dont see any open setting.
Well, it’s good to see that they are on it, and that something will come to rectify the issues at some point. It did feel kind of dirty that they are giving our suggestion (2 players per room) back to us, as well as the already debunked NAT1 / NAT 3 debacle. However, one could argue that those are directed to people who have never heard those suggestions before. Still, it does little to decrease the initial “WTF?!” feeling that overcame me while reading that statement.
I will hold my position that patience is going to prevail on this one. We have waiting years for this game, and i can wait a little longer for SNK to rectify these core issues. My copy of the game is going no where. Thanks for at least coming out and talking to US, SNK! Also, big thanks to Ignition for having the best interest of the fans in mind.
You have got to be kidding me. Did they just tell us to check our ports? This the stance they are taking?
I can pop Blazblue and then KOFXII back to back and show them how a fighting game should work. I’ll open their ports with a boot in their ass. How patronizing of them, seriously. I mean honestly, I know the internet in Japan is absolutely amazing, but come on… have someone go visit a friend in the US, pop the game in and throw up when they try to play it online. I just don’t understand them. It’s not so hard to call someone and go “Hey, how is the game running over there in the US?” “Oh, like shit.” “Oh, kk, you should probably open some ports.”
I honestly don’t get a sense that they are overly concerned with the netcode at all. I think they see the games run fine in Japan and are thinking the netcode issue is a small one in the US.
It’s just a suggestion to get the best possible connection while they try to fix the netcode in the meantime… It’s not like they’re denying the netcode has to be fixed. You seem to be taking offense at everything they announce.
Again, as I stated before and I’ll state again, it’s not like they insulted your mother. Please, don’t take offense to it, they simply stated that people should try it. BB and KOF are not the same game, engine, or code base.
Good to hear so many frequent updates. Had it been any other company, I imagine they would’ve taken much longer to keep us in the loop.
Er, can you quote them (SNKP) saying there is a problem with the netcode at all?
Again, it is most likely for people that didn’t hear their suggestion the first time. It’s something; whether it be a stall-tactic or something that they feel could fix some of the issues with a percentage of players. It’s like how tech support will have to check all of the stupid, obvious things before they get into the real meaty, labor intensive fixes. I don’t think it should be taken in insult (although I kind of want to). SNK is not a huge, wealthy corporation, and cannot simply fuck a large portion of their customers. Whatever their reasons for this abysmal release is, we do not know. I just find it hard to believe that they can honestly harbor ambivalence towards a game (and the audience that CRAVED it) that was supposed to breathe new life into their company.
Why, on Earth, would you outright say that when this is the first week that the game has been out and it is still there on the shelves? That would be, for a business standpoint, very stupid. We know it’s fucked, they know it’s fucked, and all they really need to do is hint at it and we know to what they are referring.
Look up a couple of posts. It’s ignition admitting and sending the info to them, but they represent SNKP, so I think it’s fair to say they are one in the same. Ignition officially represents them and have not denied there are issues with the code, so again don’t be quick to assume implied meaning, because that’s no reason to get angry.
To reiterate:
"Hello KOFXII Fans:
As we stated yesterday, we are currently in serious talks with SNK PLAYMORE about getting some of the online/netcode and functional concerns addressed as soon as possible. We have also passed along the top DLC requests that the fans are making so they can be very much aware of what people want. Here are some of the requests we have specifically passed along to SNK PLAYMORE:
FUNCTIONAL ISSUES:
- Netcode performance improvements HIGHEST PRIORITY"
It’s kind of hard to quote SNKP since we haven’t gotten any direct quotes from them. We do know Ignition is on this and as we all know, what the publisher says goes.
As well as what the post above me has stated there’s also:
"Dear KOF XII Fans,
The support and excitement generated by the fans so far for THE KING OF FIGHTERS XII is amazing and incredibly appreciated. We are so happy to finally have it available. Even after the game was finished, additional steps were taken to help improve the player experience and an update was released for both the Xbox 360 and PS3.
**However, Ignition Entertainment is not at all happy with the online performance or with some of the functional issues that the fans have raised even after the release of these updates. We want to ensure the community that we are not taking this lightly and are having meetings in person with members of SNK PLAYMORE even at this very moment. Please continue your constructive feedback because we are listening and will do everything we can to have SNK PLAYMORE address these issues as soon as possible.**The King of Fighters series has always had some of the very best and supportive fans and we want to do what we can to help ensure they are treated right. We will continue to keep you updated on progress with SNK PLAYMORE and we thank you again for the continued support."
This isn’t the first time gamers have seen this sort of relationship between US and Japanese developers not exactly kindle the greatest of results.
Similar discussions about SF4’s netcode were made between Capcom USA/Backbone and Capcom JP and nothing came out of it. Japan is very hardheaded about what they feel is right for their product, our opinion be damned. Hell, last I checked Ignition tried to get GGPO on this game in the first place and they got laughed at, so I guess second time is the charm?
But hey, you keep up with the optimistic approach. Really it’s quite the inspiration. You hold my breath for me too, that’s way too much to deal with for me at the moment. Wouldn’t want to go blue. In the meantime I’m off to make sure my router settings are correct.
You know you could just not buy the game anymore? Is the $60 really worth all the agony this is clearly causing you? Just go back to BB or SF4. You know if there’s a game I really don’t like, I just stop playing it and I definitely don’t hang around that game’s subforum talking about the game.
He is just venting…I feel the same as him. I still love the game…I want to love the game cause I love KOF , but SNK did screw their fans over with this game. I will wait patiently for the updates… I have plenty of other games that have good netcode ,SF2HDR,MvC2 just to name a couple.
dunno why Examu popped on my head when i read this
Does anyone know?
Yes, I keep think of Arcana Hate 2 throughout this entire cluster-fuck. I hope that one day this forum actually transcends this exceedingly exhausting bitch-fest and becomes an actual place where we can exchange ideas about the characters and system…just a thought.
Listen, smart ass. You’re one of many fanboys online for any listed game on the internet. I know, you’re not that special. I get it, but can you please tell me where I ever was talking about the game itself so maybe we can suddenly have an actual discussion?
Last I checked you started engaging in unsolicited discussion with me on the topic of SNKP’s bullshit response to the issues happening to it’s customers. Maybe you can stay on topic or shut up about issues you have no clue about, like my opinion on the game? Thanks.
Seriously, everyone is so defensive about this game that it’s almost like it HAS no problems! It’s one thing to be a fan of the game, but you cannot possibly STILL think this entire issue is justifiable. I could understand you perspective prelaunch, but post launch it was “wait until the patch, THEN say your piece.” now it’s “why did you even buy the game at all?”
Really what is your stake in all of this? I don’t know how to fix these issues, nor am I too thrilled to talk to rabid fanboys about it. What I do know is the first step is to get mad. I have that right! I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take it anymore!
Oh, and get off my back will ya? You live up to your fucking name.
I know dude, we should get online and practice some combo stri~, actually nvm.
