Unpopular gaming opinions SECOND IMPACT

True cause earth worm Jim set new standards

thats just how epic the story is…the world is fucked up and you feel the effects…But guess what**…you can change all that**…go fuck kefka up and fix things

thing is… the old camera angles made the game scary and difficult, how fuckin scary was RE1 compared to 4

It feels so nerdy that I refuse to use fighting game jargon like that. Even though I know every single term and what they mean…I wont ever say that shit aloud.

I think you mean ā€œthe game loses all direction around that timeā€. I certainly haven’t had any incentive to finish the game since the 90’s because of the way it portrayed itself.

I don’t know about you, but when of all things a game’s CAMERA ANGLES add to a game’s difficulty, I can’t help but think that’s just bad game design.

I love RE1, but it’s true. Who the hell can actually say the LIKE bad camera angles with a straight face?

You’re aware that you don’t need to post 17 times in a row just to answer multiple posts, right?

Anywho, I’m just about the second biggest FF6 fan in the history of the universe, and even I think the World of Ruin simply dropped the narrative too quickly, especially compared to the story-heavy World of Balance.

Yes, believe it or not, FF6 has problems. The difference between a fan and a fanboy is that the latter will downplay or never acknowledge those problems. The same holds true for any game/movie/TV show/etc. Go dig up the Transformers movie thread if you don’t believe me. (Oh I can never let that go, can I?)

Scary that developers allowed this control scheme and its associated camera to pass not once, but like five times.

And you can have the opinion that 1 is better than 4… but 4 is the better game, even when you consider when they were released (i.e., 4 was a better game at its release than 1 was at its release). 4 actually affords you the mobility you need for that sort of game, controls better, and builds more intrigue in its plot than 1.

The thing with RE 1 that helped it out a lot was the whole B-movie feeling, complimented with the FMV videos and stuff, unlike the rest of the RE games which included only CGI footage. Sure, it was all corny and shit, but it sorta gave it some realism too.

Chris and Wesker with crazy Aqua Net hairdos = :looney:

Fixed camera angles were fundamental to creating that atmosphere you miss from the first few RE games. I think zombie fear is based on being unable to see where the next zombie will jump out from. A fixed camera position allows this by preventing you from seeing everything around you easily. The best bits of a zombie movie are the feelings created as the character advances into the unknown whilst the audience is denied a clear look at their surroundings and therefore cant evaluate if the coast is clear, constant tension. You can’t really get that with a over the shoulder camera.

You can also set up up-close and awkward camera placement to create claustrophobia, oddly angled camera positions create eerie moods etc.

I certainly didn’t find re4 a very tense game. Well, those skinless guys in the freezer is one bit i remember as being tense, but much of the beginning part was more action like than horror for me. I didn’t so much see it as a step forward as a lateral move. I enjoyed both.

REmakes camera angles and character movement contributed to that being a damn scary game.

Also the sound effects and graphics.

What a great game that was. Lisa gave me the creepy weepy’s.

RE4 was scary in it’s own way, but once you had crazy ammo the game ended up being fun. Iron Maidens and Chainsaw guys were scary. So was the one zombie that came out of the oven. BLLAHHHH I’M ON FIRE!!

It’s kinda like that age old debate…

Which Castlevania was better? Platformer or Metroidvania?

Which Mario was better? 2D or 3D?

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?

THE WORLD MAY NEVER KNOW! :shake:

About FFVI, the World of Ruin was the best part, not the worst of the game. Just another of the things that got dumbed down in FFVII.

And I agree that RE4 isn’t a proper RE game. That’s one of the main reasons why it’s a good game though.

Exactly…

I liked resident evil because for 1 it was my 2nd PS1 game after toshinden (where is this game?) and for 2…i picked the game randomly @ the game store and it happened to be a smash hit, then 3…**when i played the game and realized i couldnt blow thru zombies like contra and the fact that them shits was ugly **and came outta no where, shit was a totally new Genre Birth, they swayed away from the horror to some action type shit…its like less RPG and more Action now…i cant appreciate that, but i guess money wise, it works for them.

This arguement is diff then the rest though because it stopped scaring the shit outta me… i appreciated really bein scared of a big ass zombie busting through walls to fuck me up outta no where. Soundtrack was sickly and ghouslish…no sound check on sound effects so they made you jump…

i honestly think that 3d mario is the best mario. can’t decide between galaxy and 64. 64 still owns a the majority of games imo because of it’s sheer playability, user friendliness and just the wow-feeling i’ll always remember from when i was about 6 years and had just turned my super nintendo off, actually playing Super Mario World on the super nintendo, and seeing an ad for nintendo 64 with mario in 3d. I was fucking stoked, and if someone had filmed that i would’ve been the nintendo64 kid on youtube today.
But galaxy just took it to another level and really shines through with its incredible charm. i just love that game.
the 2d’s are awesome, but super mario world is the best 2d mario evar. yoshi just kicks luigi’s ass anyday.
super mario 3 is great, but a little overhyped imo.

on an unrelated note:
banjo-tooie is the best banjo-kazooie game and nuts and bolts will most likely be a pretty mediocre game. nice going rare! first perfect dark zero, now banjo kazooie nuts and bolts. just fucking great.
just fucking revive killer instinct and take out comboes and you’re on a roll.

Capcom should make a Capcom vs Nintendo fighting game and have the fighting engine like smash bros. Melee. Ring out kills like all other smash bros. games, Djc’ing for ness and yoshi, l-cancelig, wavedashing and every character having the same amount of moves.
just think how cool it would’ve been to have Bison facing Ganondorf or Mario facing Ryu? what about a battle of the ranges between dhalsim and marth? it would be awesome i tells ya.
this with GGPO netcode could very likely be the best fighting game ever to grace the earth. even if it would have the shitty friendcodes.
oh, and one more… captain falcon against sagat! battle of the knees!
GOD, THAT WOULD BE AWESOOOOOME.
all neg reps accepted with thanks

Mr. Owl told me it was 3.

 @ the bolded, underline part. Nice going Rare for fucking up a game that neither has come out yet nor has been reviewed!

Choose my repsonse:

a) I think they’re testing CvN in El Salvador.
b) AWSOOMAH POWAH!
c) This isn’t GameFAQs.
d) All of the above.

Fuck that and fuck you.

Now now, let’s be fair here…

This chart confuses, infuriates, and offends me in a way that is not gaming related.

This chart makes no sense, and is probably illustrating an opinion that is in no way truth regardless.
