Unpopular gaming opinions SECOND IMPACT

It controls terribly, you never really go quickly, the plot sucks and it brought us Silver.

Silver wasn’t bad. His powers were cool, but since the controls of the game were piss poor to begin with…

That and the fact he was slow as molasses didn’t hep either.

Watch this:

I like Spinball…even though I could never get past the third level, probably one of the hardest games I ever played

And Im 100% ok with that. Now what I really want is another samurai shodown

…64?

They’ve never played Shadow the Hedgehog (Ow, the Edge) or Tails’ Sky Patrol.

With that said, it’s even glitchier than Sonic Adventure, and I didn’t think that was possible for a Sonic game.

Ride to Hell: Retributon really gave Sonic 06 a run for it’s money in regards to worst game of all time though. Sonic 06 is still worse solely because of that really weird furry fuel kiss between sonic and out of place human bitch

Shadow and Tail’s Sky Patrol were functional games. Sonic 06 was a alpha released as a retail game.

Honestly I liked 06 over Adventures I wasn’t really a fan of either, but 06, in my eyes, did a good job of pulling me into its wow moments at least.

Like riding a snowboard uphill?

No none of that 3d bullshit just a new samurai shodown with KOF13 style graphics

This actually provides data on another theory of mine. Gaming has 3 fazes. Learning, mastering, and exploiting. In fact you can apply this to almost anything. With learning and mastering being self-explanatory, exploiting is the exact opposite of mastering. Like asking ā€œwhyā€ as to ā€œwhy notā€. Now it is commonly known as ā€œbreaking the gameā€. That video is a great example. I speed runner could make this game into poetry in motion. Thank you.

As for worst game of all time Sonic 06’ gets beat by a lot of shit. The Activison Walking Dead, ET, Sonic 3D Blast, HeadHunter, Quest 64, Alex Kidd, Sonic R, Shaq Fu, Clayfighters, Sonic Spinball, a bunch of shitty MK clones, Bubsy 3D, Hard Drivin’, War Gods, the majority of MK games.

I like Sonic Spinball too. I’m a sucker for non-simulation pinball games and I like Sonic. Nowhere near as good as ā€˜Demon/Devil something’ and ā€˜Alien something’ on Megadrive and PCengine, but still fun nonetheless.

Silver was just Shadow but whiny as fuck. Also he didn’t run fast, I’m pretty sure that’s mandatory to be in a Sonic game.

Sonic 06 has wow moments?

If you’ve seen me play I wouldn’t call anything a mixup lol.

I want that dude Draco to be playable. the one from Sen. He was a slick character, that was unplayable for whatever reason. I would have loved to play a cowboy using a repeater in Samurai showdown that’s so cool.

I find sonic 06’s biggest wow moments are as follows:

Load times
Game length (see above)
Unplayability
Lack of game design
That it was shipped

Not sure if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but anytime I play a game that has a wide variety of characters to choose from, I NEVER pick the main/mascot character of that game/series. If it’s a game like Mario Kart, I’ll never pick Mario. Sonic Adventure lets me choose between 6 characters. I’ll only pick Sonic for the story but I’ll use the other characters much more frequently. There’s 40+ characters in AE. Like hell I’m only gonna pick Ryu… The only exception is Akira Yuki from Virtua Fighter. I love his fighting style so I can’t not pick him lol. But main characters are just boring to me imo. The other side characters always have more interesting skills/attributes than the main one. The main character is always well-rounded. Well-rounded is boring as fuck. Give me a technical character so I’ll be forced to put in more work. That’s more fun to me.

They are all results of buggy coding and not having physics programmed in yet.

I feel the same, at least when it comes to fighting games. I used to ā€œmainā€ shotos because I could transition from one game to another quite well and this is back when I didn’t have much money and sometimes could only play said games at a friends house or a few goes on the arcade machine. When SF4 came out and I had people to play against after years of no competition I started with Ken and Sagat.

As my game levelled up I got so bored, it was like ā€œI’ve done this all beforeā€. Since then every new fighting game I will generally just skip the ā€œshotoā€. The result of using them tends to be the same, ā€œthey are a good character, but I don’t enjoy using them.ā€, fuck that, gimme my Vipers, Lambdas, Valkenhayns, Elizabeths and Dorothys plzkthxbai.

A good default/main/shoto character is a good thing though, especially for bringing/easing in new players.

Unpopular opinion: I do think games should try to appeal to more people, fighting games included.*

*Not so unpopular though: I don’t think appealing to more people should be at the expense of the core fans or gameplay. See Bayonetta (hard as fuck mode for those that want it, one button mode for those that don’t) or Phantom Breaker Extra (no motions for specials so anyone can ā€œgetā€ the game, but has actual depth so there is still a game worth playing despite lack of 641236+PP or [1]319+KKK requirements).
