For 1080p video, Composite, VGA and DVI often does a much better performance than HDMI, which HDMI is subject to image post processing which produces input lag.

Regarding pads and sticks, I totally agree that sticks are better suited for FGs than pad. FGs were born in the arcades so naturally it would be better suited for sticks. The buttons on pad are way too spread out on the controller. The pad is ok if you can deal with buttons for movement, but analog sticks are just plain suicide. Coming from a 360 pad user that deals with heavy execution, I won’t be surprised if I’ll develop arthritis. And yes I do use 360 pad for FGs. And no I’m not an idiot lol.

How about whenever you turn on your video device before your TV and the HDMI hand shaking fails and you need to fuck around with that shit until it works? So annoying, especially when a DVI connection (which is EXACTLY the same as HDMI minus audio and encryption) never has that problem.

For 3D though, the bandwidth in HDMI is required, which if you want 3D content, makes it all a moot point.

But real talk. I never experienced any problems the HDMI handshake. There was probably one instance it took a while for my TV to sync up with the PS3’s image at start up, but I don’t really care about it because I’m not ADHD riddled faggot.

I use DVI for my computer monitor, but that’s about it. There’s no reason for the 360 or PS3 to have dead-on input response, or accurate color reproduction. For one thing, most recent gen console games aren’t graphical powerhouses, and most fighting games (or input heavy games) were designed with input delay in mind.

They support the same resolutions minus 4k which no one uses.

HDMI is pushed more due to its encryption capabilities to prevent Bluray copying and to restrict recording/streaming.

Also 2 ms isn’t much, but in a fighting game 24ms is a long time.

HDMI cords allow for faster data travel that any DVI and VGA cord could not dream of doing, there’s a reason why HDMI is now the standard

there’s a reason why HDM is becoming the standard and soon to be something similar to apple’s thunderbolt port

and besides that, HDMI is much easier to hook up than either DVI and VGA, especially for those who are not very good with technology (which isn’t any of us…i hope)

There is a HUGE misnomer, Newer does not equal better. RBG video both at 15hz (arcade hardware and RGB scart) and 31hz (RGB HV or VGA) is a uncompressed format that has better color reproduction and less artifacts than Composite (3 RCA or BNC plugs with lumina and chroma separated).

Composite is in many, many ways superior to HDMI as there no encryption required, better color reproduction and the signal needs very little (or rather none) post processing to look its best.

Actually HDMI bring encryption to the table the other formats lack. HDMI does not allow for “faster” data travel until you go pass the 1080p @60fps setting. 4k and 120fps (used for active "shutter 3D glasses) are the examples.

HDMI also allows for limited networking (version 1.3 and higher, Player and Display can transfer back and forth operational data and some internet data). Its unnecessary to have networking in a Audio video connector.
Also the HDMI format is a expanded version of the DVI format minus the Analog support (some DVI ports can support legacy VGA analog signals).
