Fighters Megamix was one of those games that I loved playing just because I was a huge Sega fan back then, but you could tell they had to skimp on the graphics and presentation to make it what it was. Too bad it never came out in arcades.
Unpopular gaming opinion = WiiU and Xbox One will fare pretty well vs. the PS4 in a couple years. Done.
I dont see the WiiU faring WELL against them. They might do better sure. And it would be nice if that happens. But there are just so many people that dont know there is a difference between Wii and WiiU.
Every MMO Final Fantasy game is shit, and every spin-off Final Fantasy game is also shit, as well the odd “sequels” like X-2. Only exceptions are Crisis Core because the gameplay was really fun, and Dirge of Cerebus was decent at best. That game should have been a pure hack and slash action game with third-person shooter mechanics behind it instead of just a TPS.
Every FF post FFX is also shit, and FFX started the horrible VA’s, lack of overworlds, straight line level designs and no airships/ground vehicles. It’s a decent game and I enjoyed it and the sphere grid, but it’s been nothing but downhill since it and FF9.
Every company that’s had a merger has turned to shit, with the exception of Tecmo/Koei and Namco/Bandai.
Edit: Oh yeah, FFIV remake on DS was fucking garbage, and the added VA’s+shit PS1 era 3D graphics killed all the charm the original characters once had. The SNES, PS1 and PSP “HD” remakes are the best versions. 2D sprites and all the charm retained in the PSP remake, right down to the quirky little animations characters do. One of the best remakes of any game I’ve ever played, period. I was shocked at how good it was, and it comes with the extra “After Years” content that the Wii and I think phones got.
Yup. Killzone on PS4 looks great, as well as the animations, but other than the nicer graphics the gameplay looks very similar to previous games. New inFAMOUS has a bunch of neat effects and great graphics, but gameplay-wise it doesn’t look fresh at all(but it does look more fun than inFAMOUS 1 and 2.)
Witcher 3 is one of my more hyped next-gen games, but it’s also being released on PC, so I’ll actually be playing that game. Witcher series is pretty awesome, more people need to play them. Solid action RPG’s with good gameplay backed by an actual interesting story with characters you actually care about.
Aside from TitanFall, and Witcher 3 Im not looking forward to much else to be honest. I was gonna say Watch Dogs but it doesnt really count since it will launch on this gen as well. On the upgraded consoles it will be the same game + better graphics kinda. Maybe non-existent texture popping and better draw distance.
Why when you disagree with people about an action game, they always figure “The game was beating you”? Ninja Gaiden and DMC 3 are so high on my list of action games, this piece of shit gets lost in the shuffle. At least Lament of Innocence FELT like Castlevania.
Actually no. I quit it right about the point when you’re riding the Leviathan thing through the skies because it was making me physically sick with headaches and nausea. The combat was bland as fuck. The story was so transparent even from the start. The music was your average orchestra bullshit. The enemies were so slow and plodding outside of the werewolves. The locales were boring and devoid of life.
Dante’s Inferno came out before it IIRC and felt more like Castlevania 3D than LOS did.
Darksiders 1 was LEAUGES ahead of DS2. DS2 felt so WoW-ish with the “looting” and the “random claw #194 that glows red is better than random claw #284 that also glows red”.
Every new weapon you got in DS1 made you feel like it was hard earned and a keeper because they were. If you only could do 3 combos in DS1, then that was just you because the weapons and magic were actually usable and made sense.
Killzone and InFamous is what I’m looking forward to. Deep Down is a maybe. I wasn’t impress with what Capcom had to show at Sony’s Japan conference. The thing that pisses me off with next-gen is that it seems the only choices are AAA or indie. There’s no middle of the road stuff that has modest production values like telltales upcoming Fables game.
The XBOX 360 controller is awful, and not just for fighting games.
The dpad is trash, the bumpers are uncomfortable to use, the analog sticks take way too much force to get out of the dead zone, and the controller itself is too bulky.
