The only time I’ve played Fighting Vipers was through FMM, using the FV engine. I still wanna dl it on XBLA as well as VF2 (I’ll be getting this on PC at some point, but still). I’ve always heard FV referred to as “VF’s retarded cousin”, but I don’t know looks cool. They did a lot of mechanics in it that Namco would later use for Soul Calibur (I believe in even Soul Edge?).

MGO is ass. The gameplay was too slow for a competitive multiplayer game and the series signature stealth had no role in it outside of that one mode with one player as Snake and everyone else being PMCs.

European developers are killing it recently. Witcher series, Path of Exile, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow series, Sacred series, the Wipeout developers before they got GGPO’d and more.

Extreme truth, but there are the odd exceptions and developers like Insomniac as well as the guys who are keeping the Dead Rising series going. There are more, but yeah, I mostly agree with this.

Fighters Megamix wasn’t very good. Don’t get me wrong; I played the shit out of it. But it was the big, varied roster that made it appealing. It wasn’t as good as the games it was comprised of. I remember reading a review of it back in the day that referred to it as “Virtua Fighter Bastard.”

A new, more refined FMM would probably be pretty solid, though.

Oh yeah: I hate Playstation controllers. It’s the D-“pad.” I’ll buy a PS4 just as I did a PS2, and I will never like the controller. That said, it still handled fighting games better than other controllers.

Why? Is it because there’s nothing in the middle? Once you get over that, it’s amazing.

I’m sure there will be alternatives through USB pads just like this gen, though. I want a USB Saturn pad for my PS3/PC because of the 6 face buttons and better D-pad(though I’d most likely have to get used to it again.)

The pads are so stiff i think is the problem. Most games use the analog stick for movement, but if I was playing a fighting game on PS2, my hand would cramp up after awhile just because the PS pads are always so damn stiff.

@Shishioh Lords of Shadow has really good combat. Way more fun than Darksiders 1 and its 3 combos throughout the ENTIRE game. Darksiders 2 combat is pretty great, though, and Lords of Shadows 2’s combat is looking really fucking good.
