but skyward sword used a very basic version of motion controls.
something tells me you have a lack of experience fueling your knowledge. its ok though you and whoever else can live in the past, im just gonna mention what I like just like the rest of you “the new call of duty’s dogs look interesting” im just talking about what I like, if you’re too afraid of new tech you could just not read my post when I mention it, like an adult.
You the reason I responded to you Ki-Shima isn’t because you where talking about what you liked but because where you going on about how you couldn’t understand why people couldn’t put VR and Motion controls together, as if we needed you incredibly brilliant mind to point this shit out for us. Same with the post above, default to COD as a defense, as if your some kind of special flower who sees stuff the rest of us miss, while I never mention COD or it’s stupid dog in my post. It’s not that i lack experience, I’m fine with trying new things, i just recognize that OR isn’t a perfect fit for everything while your wanting to shoehorn that shit into everything.
But go ahead and move on to your bright future that the rest of us don’t see.
on?-topic: iv never said all games will benefit from OR (I always say FF7 should remain pre rendered just updated) there will always be a place for regular games, im just interested in the possibilities of VR, I don’t know how old you are but most of us have always dreamed of being placed inside the game. the only reason I bang on is due to the fact I see right through media/corporations and I know they could be investing more innovation into their games but somehow (see: aldous huxley) we seem to want more of the same and keep investing in these money making machines.
saying things like “skyward sword implemented move controls well” just shines a spot light on your ignorance. that game just made it more familiar to old habits and is very basic compared to other games.
Well, that’s the thing. I feel like some of these names are not indicative. Like if you want fighting games to mean something more specific then what I defined in my previous post, you should call it “street fighter styled fighting games” or “traditional fighters” or something like that.
I doubt most people would call Gradius and Contra shooters, except among others who understand what they mean. A LOT of games have shooting in them, so calling a specific genre “shooter” is a very poor idea. That’s why we have “first person shooter”, “third person shooter”, “scrolling shooter” (shmups), etc.
As for the last bit, I agree, but that’s what I’m objecting to. I feel like some of these genre names are completely misleading if people are going to exclude games from them for (imo) arbitrary reasons. To say that a game featuring role playing is not an rpg because it’s not turn based, or to say that a game that is based around competitive one on one skill based combat between players is not a fighter because it’s not based upon the same controls as most games in the genre, is ridiculous to me. If we can’t call such a game an rpg, and can’t call such a game a fighter, then these genre names are complete baloney and shouldn’t be used or cared about.
Anyway, to change the subject onto what you guys are talking about:
I absolutely fucking do not want VR. Ever.
You guys can enjoy it, and that’s cool, but I do not want to actually be in the game. I can get immersed and stuff, but not in a million years do I actually want to BE there.
Not to mention virtual reality is fucking creepy anyway.
The confusion happened because gameplay elements started to converge, or an evolution in graphics or gameplay created a new type of game (before SF you probably could lump all contact sport games together) or because a new type of game became more popular than the original type of game (when I grew up Gradius was called a shooter). But back to the topic fuck EA games!
That looked terrible…even in full screen. Half the reason I can’t get excited for OR is that it’s not really VR. It’s just head tracking. There’s still the major disconnect between what your seeing and what your hands are doing.
the difference was seeing the objects he was driving away from cant be seen properly in a small screen, kind of an example why films are better watched in the cinema
here’s something that is a little bit more refined (though shoe horned)
its just indie devolopers pumping things out right now, big companies are being a lot more thorough, though Valve has made Source compatible with three of there games fully now, half life 2, portal 2, team fortress 2
LOL it’s ver 1.2 of a game a random guy made on Unity don’t be too shocked
I think every Final Fantasy since VII has been them trying to make a movie to make up for the disaster Spirits Within, but with boring gameplay added in. I am still amazed they were able to make such amazing 2D RPG’s yet are failing so bad at cinematic boring 3D ones.
-Jamestown is a great game with a great aesthetic, but in terms of pure level and gameplay design, it’s easily outclassed by countless loli bullet hell shmups that came before it (Exceed, Gundemonium Touhou, etc.)
-Gunstar Heroes doesn’t feel nearly as tight as Contra, Metal Slug, or any of the top tier run and gun/action platformer games, and is a classic case of style over substance. Also that fucking board game is still boring as fuck.
-Persona 4, and the rest of the Shin Megami Tensei games, are the last fucking thing that should ever be turned into an anime. They are player avatar based role playing games, and were carefully designed and written as video games. Retelling them in another medium only succeeds in removing most of the appeal.
-Super Meatboy is neither terrible nor the greatest thing ever. It’s a well designed game in practically every aspect (except the bosses), and it succeeds in the goal it’s aiming for. It’s just not for everyone. If you enjoy static speed run oriented gameplay and pure platforming, then it’s a great game. If you like reflex based play and combat, as well as punishment for failure leading to excitement, then it’s not for you.
-Minecraft is unspeakably awful and boring and I only told my friend I liked it because I didn’t want to hurt his feelings.
-Kingdom Hearts 1 had a good story and fun boss fights. Kingdom Hearts 2 had good gameplay in general but an unspeakably bad story. Each Kingdom Hearts game seems to get better then the last gameplay wise, but I do not consider anything story related canon past the first game.
I think kingdom hearts 1 had a fun story not a particularly good story what with your “love can overcome anything” and “heart of the cards” BS. But I liked that game when I was younger and still admire it a little bit today. I definitely agree with the others getting worse stories. I just don’t know about the direction the series is taking and stopped checking ever since their first DS game came out. The whole organization 13 business I feel is what made the story kinda wack (though I do understand why people like it it’s just not for me). I just liked it when it was disney characters and their stories colliding with this final fantasyish plot.
