I had an issue with gambits as well. If you set them well enough you can make the game play itself.
Which is why I advise not setting very many.
Half Life 2 is overrated.
Fun Fact: Vaan and Penelo were actually last minute additions to the cast, there was a interview awhile back explaining that Square felt the original cast given their age (older characters like Balthier, Fran, Basch, Gabranth, and to some degree Asche) would be too hard to identify with so they decided to throw in some characters around the games average age demographic. It honestly starts to show around 1/3 way through the game because after that Vaan and Penelo rarely ever get any dialogue and they dropped that story about Vaanās brother quick.
Despite that I still believe that FF XII is easily one of the best FFās ever made, not only did they make a amazing soundtrack without Uematsu they also managed to make it successful without Tetsuya Nomura (Mr. Kingdom Hearts/FFVII) too. It sucks that FFXIII was in development hell for so many years and the original FFXIV bombed hard because if it wasnāt for those two screw ups we would have still been getting a steady stream of SquareEnix games.
I actually like them for that very reason.
Making heavy use of gambits creates a nice Ogre Battle-like style of gameplay, where a large chunk of your success comes from your pre-fight setup, but you can still intervene directly to turn the tide of battle.
Although I actually prefer to play in a kind of hybrid style, with a directly-controlled point character and two assists on gambit autopilot.

Garou Mark of the Wolves is more fun than 3S and more Broken. All the Fatal Fury games that arenāt Garou are varying levels of terrible.
-
Final Fantasy 7 was an easy game which only saving grace was one cutscene.
-
Samurai Shodown 2 > Samurai Shodown 5 Special. All other Samsho games are horrible.
-
Mario Party 3 is the best Mario Party. Only because Waluigi is my favorite Mario Character. I think me and 5 other people are the only Humans on the planet who like him lol.
-
Halo 3 was the best Halo.
-Virtua Fighter is a fun game with very one-dimensional characters that are hard to like.
-Unreal Tournament > Quake.
-
Platformers donāt sell. I donāt blame Capcom for not remaking Megaman, nostalgia doesnāt equal sales. Sega calls Sonic selling 1 Million a success, 1 Million in any other genre is a failure.
-
Tekken 2 had the best soundtrack in Tekken. Paul Phoenixās, Heihachiās, Michelleās, P-Jack and Yoshimitsu had amazing themes.
-Fallout 3 was too clunky for me to like it.
Thereās so much wrong there that I canāt Disagree any harder.
I knew you would hate the first one lmao.
1/2 of these are my real opinions and the other 1/2 is just trolling.
I disagreed on multiple points.
3S>Garou. End of story. Garou is fun but it canāt hold a candle to 3S.
V SP>2. 2 is a good game but V SP is significantly better despite a few quirks. 6 has the best gameplay in the series but easily has the worst music and no fatalities.
Quake>UT. Dudes still play Quake 3 over the latest UT. UT has great ideas but itās just retarded to play.
Platformers do sell. We need new IPās. The public is getting tired of yet another iteration of Mario and Sonic with new gimmicks.
Fallout 3 isnāt clunky. But to be fair, I played Game of the Year edition.
silent hill 2 is complete arse
-Final Fantasy is overrated.
-Dragon Quest is overrated.
-Elder Scrolls is overrated.
-Mother sucks.
-Mass Effect 2 and 3 have no RPG elements. And suck.
-Chrono Cross sucks. Chrono Trigger is amazing.
-All top-down Zelda games are overrated, save Zelda 2.
-Majoraās Mask is the best Zelda game, Ocarina of Time is mediocre at best.
-MGS3 is the best Metal Gear game.
-Escort missions are as fun as Hell. Dead Rising 2ās escort missions were too easy.
-Call of Duty is decent.
-Pikmin 2 sucked. Would be good with a time limit.
-Metroid: Other M would be the best game on the Wii if they changed the main character and labeled it as a side-series.
-Gotta Catch 'Em All refers to Gym Badges.
-Fire Emblem 1,3, and 11 sucked.
-Okami is a better Zelda.
I think the problem w/ Platformers is that it seems like a high risk/low reward type of thing. If it doesnāt have a unique charm (ie: Ms. Splosion man) everyone and their dog will just say āanother poor attempt at re-creating Mario/Sonic/Dogshit or w/e.ā because Platformers donāt have the same luxury other games do.
Sometimes it just feels okay to have ONE game dominate a genre, because itās guaranteed to be similar most of the time. Do you know WHY no one gives a fuck about Gran Turismo anymore? Because Forza too over the racing simulation because GT thought it was lolzy to push back the game a million times.
I think one of the few genres that are underexplored is the hack and slash genre (No, Dynasty Warriors doesnāt count.) which is why when Platinum Games came with crazy fast games like Bayo, Vanquish and MGR people are like āZOOOOMG GEMZ!!! GOTY 2013ā.
I think game companies should create more hybrids. Like for example Sanctum 2 or something like that. Itās an FPS/Tower Defense hybrid and gets some props. Metro Last Light made a modern FPS with very dark storytelling which made it stand out from the rest. People bitch about minecraft (I hate minecraft) but I give it itās props for trying to stand out from the other sandbox BS.
OT:
-
3S is the best Street Fighter && It only flopped because the first entry which mattered the most sucked major ass (Weak moves, no EX which would have felt obvious to introduce, Sean was redonk. The new characters just felt generic except for Oro and the Twins.)
-
Final Fantasy VIII is the best one. Just because of that kick ass card game.
-
Fuck mega man I donāt even know why people care about him anymore. People want new shit but have to do the Megaman QQ every capcom game. Iād throw a fat version of him too if people never shuts up.
-
Dreamcast > PS2.
I think that FFXIII isnt as bad as people say. I enjoyed most of the characters (except for Hope) and the battle system was interesting. The story wasnāt FF material but Ive played shittier. I really liked XIII-2 though and wish that more people would give it a chance.
Also, FPS games suckā¦
ā¦Thatās not an unpopular opinion. That might as well be called āOpinion everyone agrees withā.
whatchawoahwhat?!
this better not be talking about the video game series.
Mother does suck, and to prove this the evidence dictates āall shitty games go for the most moneyā
I think tekken without bounds is awesome, I also think people that have a hard on for that brooding archetype need to man themselves up, or just admit that they are some bitchasses.
Kenshiro is a bonafide badass, says barely anything and then fucks shit up. But heās not a video game character.
But, there are real niggas like Akuma who are just mad as fuck, or people I give a break like Kā because heās not much of a emo as he is a dick. Hell even āze Primeā is a real motherfucker with a tragic past. Even Abel is cool and heās got memory loss and no family besides guile and a dog.
But then there are people like Jin kazama where itās like āughā¦t-the devil gene! Did I pack my tampax pearl!?ā
And thatās a shame because Jin is harradaās favorite character(?)Smh.
-shenmue is overhyped.
-chrono cross was better.
-tatsunoko vs capcom is better than mvc3
-fallout, bioshock, and the elder scroll games suck
-resonance of fate is the best game this gen
Tatsunoko was better than the shitty derp-fest that is MVC 3
Injustsice only attracts scrubby whine baby players who cry about everything and always want patches.
Without bounds certain characters would become complete ass cheeks Raven and Lars are examples of that.
Iām perfectly okay with that.
