The original premise behind this team was Hawkeye/Storm/Morrigan, using Morrigan to build meter so I could do Gimlet xx Hail for a full screen DHC that does a lot of damage. Over time though I began to hate having only one offensive assist when using Hawkeye (and none if I only had Storm and Morrigan left) so I threw Doom(Hidden Missiles) in there.
This gives Hawkeye fierce lockdown tactics, and of course Gimlet xx Hail is still great, in and out of combos. When Storm is on point I can use Hidden Missiles to lock the opponent down and start up overheads. If I play perfectly, I am pretty much guaranteed to get a hit with her. Hawkeye Triple Arrow assist is really good as well for getting in.
Well this is a few months later, but yes, wolvie/storm/akuma is still very viable(it won winter brawl if im not mistaken), tatsu still tears a hole through all projectiles. The only issue with this team imo is wolvie is not a good battery, in fact, he is probably one of the worst characters when it comes to meter consumption in the game since he is always blowing meter on berserker charges thus becoming unable to build meter and bringing back horrible returns on meter consumption.
What do you guys think about Storm/Chun? I’ve been using Dante in the third slot (Weasel Shot) but I’ve considered using Sent over Dante, since I think I could get more use out of drones. I’ve never played him before, though, and was recently trying to improve my Dante.
Storm/Chun is decent but it has problems. Chun is really a point character. She needs 2 assists to help her. One to control air space (vajra, missiles) and one to control ground space (beam). If she lacks one then she can be lamed out. If you want a lockdown assist I would just pick Ammy instead.
Who’s a battery character that works well with storm? Really like how storm (whirlwind) / Strider (Vajra) is working just can’t find that first character. Logan is decent but like jak d ripr said, his meter consumption is counter productive, trying to have 3 meters by the time strider comes in anyway. I really like vergil but he can be somewhat meter reliant also, thanks for any input.
Her damage and meter gain never net me the kill on a first hit so I usually just skip the super all together and call cold star then do fair wind to push them into it for the forward tech catch as i’ve seen a lot of magneto players do. If the next mixup hits them I’m left with enough meter to DHC or THC for the kill. It’s a pretty good set up aswell for incoming characters without a way to get around it (akuma beam, air movement, etc.)
I am really too sad cause there are few people are playing with her
I started in UMVC3 with MODOK / Storm / Sentinel, so I wanted to do MODOK become really strong . Then I changed to MODOK / Sentinel / Doom - this is my A team
But Storm is my favorite character in this game and I’ve tried putting different characters to create a synergy for her.
In my opinion she is excelent as a second character and DHC also (like MVC2)
I’m currently on Storm(whirlwind)/Akuma(tatsu)/Doom(missiles) where she’s a character with awesome mobility, but not really and I need more than just her BnB: c.(LMH) j.(MMH) M c.H j.(H (optional S) dash H) M S, air MM(H)S into hyper or c.(MLHS) air MMH flight LH dash H dash H dash H dash HS into hyper. However, neither Akuma nor Doom seem to be able to extend her combos in any way.
I want to try calling Doom with Missiles, dash back and Fair Wind if he can get the relaunch this way (as he can with Magneto).
Unfortunately Doom doesn’t do anything for Storm other than provide lockdown assist with any of his assist. Storm’s properties don’t allow her combos that take advantage of the fact missiles OTG and her relaunch combos don’t do anything but scale damage more. If you want to use missiles the best combo you are going to get is jump loops into fly loops, which allow you to build the meter you need for hailstorm but even then you’re only going to get about 580K damage unless you start with lightning attacks. Less is more with Storm in terms of damage but it won’t give you meter. With that being said my current team is Spidey/Storm/Doom-b.
Lol idk why but I love you xero.
On that note would plasma beam work better (for zoning)?
I know storm has a horizontal attack but is it durable enough to not need any backup so I can use missles?
And ugghhh finally, other than spidey who goes well with them.
 I use Storm to compliment my Spidey. I love their unique style synergy. As for Doom, it depends on your style truly. If you are rushing in with her and your third doesn’t have an alternate assist that can benefit her then yes go with plasma beam to cover your approach. For me I have Spidey’s web swing. It’s not the best for approach but it gives them an obstacle to worry about while I tri jump in there for the hi/lo left right while still allowing me to use missiles for combo purposes. Outside of combos I can play her zoning/keepaway game using orbs, whirlwinds, fair/foul wind, and missiles to annoy and chip. That’s that team though, which I built to cater my style and I will eventually strengthen it later. Other teams I have for strictly Storm include
Storm/Dorm-a/Doom-b. It still provides me lockdown on both fronts but her rushdown is more mid zone based due to the spacing of Dorm’s dark hole. Dark hole still allows jump/lightning loop combos into the fly loop to allow for double typhoon into hailstorm into elemental rage combos and again I have Doom for the zoning. I think theirs another combo that uses both assist here but I’m waiting for my xbox to get back to me so I can test it out for other ideas.
Storm/Iron Man-b/Doom-a. This is my more rushdown based Storm team. Some people say I should start with Iron Man so he will have assist backing him but if I ran him first more than likely I would run Doom on missiles for his zoning. Iron Man’s repulsor blast is a great anti air and still works the same as it did in MvC2. On hit Storm can go into jump loop combos or launch into fly combos. It also covers a wide area of the screen so you can end a combo with a reset opp and call Iron man to cover you to force them into a hard to block situation, or after a hard knockdown use him to cover left right recovery. Combo wise, again sets up for the jump/lightning loop into fly loop combos into DT xx Hailstorm, ER combos. Doom provides the horizontal coverage for Storm to get in, even when his assist hits the opponent can still eat full combos depending on how you follow up. I tend to dash in with s:m: after a Doom call so I can continue from there.
I have a couple more but I’m not great with the other few characters but I don’t know how you feel about Strider but Vajra works great for Storm in terms of air control allowing you to get a double typhoon off of him. Also in some combos where you end up next to the opponent after a hard knockdown you can do DT call Strider~ :s: xx DT xx Hailstorm ER for more damage. As for Strider with Doom. Well he just makes for easy pickups anywhere on the screen as Doom can quickly tri jump to him and OTG from there. Did you have certain characters in mind? I’m not sure your character preference.
Yeah iron guy goes kinda well.
I kinda want to make a less orthadox team. I play top tier dante spencer wesker wolverine teams so this could be a refresher.
I especially like characters with fly because that leads to fly combos.
Btw I asked a q in the combo thread could u check it out.
Wrote it in the combo thread v.2 I just have a problem connecting the tridash :h: after the air :f::h::s: I airdash :df: but it never brings me all the way down and I can’t connect. Its the only combo I have trouble with.
