I agree with yar1n in that you should run magneto on point since he dishes out more raw damage than storm, plus storm is more dangerous when she has a few bars to burn which magneto can build for her. As for sentinel, I don’t see the purpose of running that assist on this team since not only do magneto and storm not really get that much extra damage from an otg assist, but they get so much more from the drones. If you wanna experiment with a sentinel assist try the bombing run, maybe you can discover some sexy new tech, but there is literally no reason to pick the rocket punch at this point in the games life imo.
I personally am not a fan of concept teams, i.e. a team with a gameplan other than just outright killing your opponent. Think about it, your playing to level up frank and make hsien-ko gold then trying to kill your opponent while your opponent is simply playing to beat you. Overly complicated gameplans like that rarely get you very far imo. Thats why Im not a fan of running frank west anywhere other than on point, the whole perform this hyper, dhc into this hyper and get my lvl’s then raw tag out and blah blah blah its too many things to hope go right when your dealing with a wesker all up in your ass. Of course this is just my opinion and something for you to think about.
As for me, I think Im settled on doom/storm/amaterasu, 3 very solid character and I can switch the order around depending on the match-up. Only issue is dooms combos actually require practice and I don’t have the facilities required unfortunately.
Anyone really, you can go a bunch of different directions with that team, get a battery(like spencer or iron fist) on point, get a nice horizontal control assist(like hawkeye) in the second slot, or get a real sick assist(like akuma) for your anchor.
Cool, yeah I like the way Justin Wong uses Akuma assist combined with Storm’s Hailstorm.
I need to try out some more characters with good keepaway assists.
Akuma is a good choice, but I heard Frank West might be good too because of his Shopping Card assist. But I don’t know how to use him properly yet.
Haven’t really used Hawkeye yet, I will try him out in training mode soon. =)
Wesker/Storm/X is a very, very strong team, even without glitches. Wesker is a meter-building monster. Off the first hit he can easily convert over 100% meter into an ~800K+ damage THC. His Samurai Edge assist also extends Storm’s combos for that slight meter gain and also allows you to convert easily off of her ground OR air throws. On the flipside, Storm’s Whirlwind assist is great for aiding Wesker’s zoning game against slower characters.
As for the third slot, it really depends on preference. For pure offensive lockdown and mixups, Akuma Tatsu is a great assist and a great anchor. The only problem with Akuma now is that unplanned tatsu hits are hard to confirm off of due to the loss of the soft knockdown. He’s still great for keeping people stuck in the corner though. Frank West’s Shopping Cart is the new awesome assist. It’s probably superior to tatsu in this game as an assist, but Akuma is an arguably much better anchor than Frank. In the corner, Akuma’s THC of either Wesker’s OTG shot or Storm’s OTG Hailstorm leads to some really, really heavy damage (I think 950K+ off of Wesker’s BnB). My personal favorite for the last slot is Sentinel. He’s definitely become a lot weaker as an anchor, but his drones are still amazing for both mixups and lockdown. The point of all three assists is that they grant you two guaranteed mixups for both Wesker and Storm after an opponent’s pushblock.
I’ve recently picked up storm after finding hawkeye really boring as an anchor. I’m trying to put her on two different teams. Spencer/Storm/Strider. strider assist +storm is super cheap 400k for an assist hitting you is pretty good. storm horizontal wind is also really good for spencer getting people to the corner. spencer and storm have good dhc stuff between each other.
team 2 is Zero/Spencer/Storm. I’m still not sold on anchor storm just yet what are you guy’s opinion on her operating solo? zero decent dhc back to storm but the other way around it isn’t too great.
Just outta curiosity how do you get 400k with strider assist? Oh and while Im not a fan of storm on anchor, I do believe she can hold her own with the best of them, her damage output skyrockets in x-factor since she gets access to new combos and shit, plus she gets blisteringly fast and can convert a hit anywhere on screen into a lot of damage. Plus with bar and against certain characters she doesn’t even have to fight, she can just chip for days.
I don’t put her there because of personal opinion(plus her assists are ok, not abuse-able) but I do think she is respectable on anchor.
I’m trying Storm/Trish/Akuma at the moment.
What do you guys think? Storm and Akuma work really well together, but I don’t know about Trish.
I like her and her super seems to work good with Storm/Akuma dhc.
But that also means I have no otg assist for my team.
Is it necessary to have an otg assist?
EDIT:
Hmm or should I go with Storm/Dormammu/Akuma, it works very good as well.
I run Storm, Dormammu, and Morrigan. I usually play keepaway with Storm or Dormammu while calling Morrigan’s meter assist. Dormammu’s zoning game gets much stronger with Storm’s whirlwind assist, and he gets a nasty teleport mixup since whirlwind pushes them towards you. Dorm’s dark hole assist helps storm with crossups/crossunders, and because I usually have at least 2 meters from morrigan, THC with instant hailstorm and chaotic fame means they can’t call assists.
Finally, if those two get taken out I have Morrigan as my anchor. With astral vision and x factor lvl 3, she’s gonna do work
Trying to find a third for my team of Storm(whirlwind)/Doom(Plasma Beam) and would like some advice. Been looking a Super Skrull, Chris, or Hagger and would like to know which would benefit the team best. I want to build a zone first team but also want a good assist to help with rundown.
I’ve been running RR (Pendulum)/Storm (Whirlwind)/Morrigan (Dark Harmonizer). I find that whirlwind is good for covering RR’s teleport approaches, as it creates a lot of visual “noise” on screen, which makes the animations for his teleports very subtle. It helps that the whirlwinds are coming from the ground, where his burrow animation happens, and not above ground where most beams are. The reason for my team order is that RR doesn’t use much meter, as he’s more inclined to resetting than ending his combos, per se. Storm is the easiest person in the world to DHC to, but is more meter hungry than RR, and not that great of a battery. Morrigan is last because she’s actually surprisingly challenging to DHC to with the slow start up on her supers, but you can Hail Storm -> Finishing Shower as long as you cancel Hail Storm as soon as the ice starts to fall. Just keep mashing and your mashing will count for extra hits for both Hail Storm (which keeps animating) and Finishing Shower (which Morrigan comes in with).
Even with Dark Harmonizer in my back pocket, this team looks WAY too meter hungry for me not to have problems during a match.
What do you guy’s think of Storm/Sent? Fanatiq is the only one I’ve seen use them together but do you guys think there are better picks? to me it seems like they’d be BFFs with all the mixup potential and what not…
Elemental Rage to Burst time
Hail Storm to Emergency Combination
Viper/Storm/Amaterasu is pretty decent team. Ive ran Viper/Storm/Doom and liked it but I dont like doom anchor and I think your team is probably better
I co-sign dormammu/storm/akuma, it seems like a very solid team overall and good dhc’s.
Storm/Sent is still(and will probably always be) an amazing combination. The drones just do so much for storms offense and defense its astounding. And the two of them probably have one of the most painful dhc’s in all of marvel. Plus sent can get a good 600-700k from full screen if he has two bars and hits a spit chain.
storm dante jam session is amazing too although you guys proly already know that. you can magic series and keep the block string goign with jam session lockdown dash in and go for the high or low or tridash cross up. and the best part is if its you and dante left if you start a combo with 3 or almost 3 meters you can do a team super and million dollars will last long enough for the 1st hail storm to end and do a 2nd one. i get many many kills this way. or if you hit a random jam session you can go in for h > h int he air land s.M > cr.H jH dash H and go into stand light for reset or launcher air combo super.
