Unleash the Elements: The Storm Team Building Thread

Yeah because I can’t deal more damage for less meter I’m starting to see what I can work out in terms of effectiveness

I think I’m finally starting to get the hang of my new team. Sorta. Strange is still hella confusing in neutral.

He takes a while. Depending on the type of player you are, something will just click after a while. You have to stick with it and purposely put your hands in the fire, though, to force yourself to find out what really works and what really doesn’t, despite how some ideas might seem blatantly good or bad at the time you conceive them.

Strange is just totally against my nature. I always pick characters with good movement… so this is pushing me to think in a different way than I ever have before. Magneto is tricky too because I keep wanting to float with him xD

Anyways I’m not stressing out too much with this team online… it’s so not lag friendly lol

Does anyone else like Felicia/Storm/Akuma with Sandsplash assist? I’ve been doing a lot of work with this team and I think it has some decent potential. I don’t know how well this team competes against some of the top tier squads necessarily, but I’ve always felt Storm/Akuma is a strong shell and a good battery makes them even better.

After Felicia combos if I dont get the kill with the combo I go into either a tatsu or whirlwind mixup in the corner. It’s probably not the safest but sometimes I just block.

In order to really make this team work, personally I need to maximize my damage with Felix and get better with Akuma.

This team works a little bit like Justin’s Wolvie team but the triple team hyper combo isnt as good with Felicia obviously.

What do you all think about this team? And who are other good, similar point characters to play with the Storm/Akuma shell?

Why not Morrigan instead of Felicia?

I like Morrigan with Storm but not Akuma. Felicia plays better with Tatsu assist.

Who is good with Morrigan/Storm because I love that shell. I’ve been experimenting with Magneto/Storm/Morrigan actually because Morrigan is my best anchor in this game other than Hawkeye.

How about Morrigan/Storm/Vergil?

Ive always loved storm, but don’t play her much due to being afraid shes too average. Jwongs performance at evo has inspired me.

Can anyone give me a rundown on storm with each of one of dooms assists?

I greatly appreciate it.

I always play her. Indeed. Justing Wong showed Storm’s awesomeness eventhough Storm is not a top tier character.

I can’t answer your question. Let’s just have to wait for tohers to help you.

Ok i was hoping for someone other than that dude.

Thanks though.

Currently i’m using Magneto (grab)/Storm(whirlind)/Strange (Bolts)

Magneto give me a lot of meter for storm (specially her) and Strange, and a good rushdown or zoning (still i’m newbie with him), THC Magnetic Tempest + Hail storm is really good… not as good like Wolvie/Storm but can reach 900-1000k
Storm and Strange seems to work good together. STrange can go into FoF from a DHC or TAC (however i can’t still execute FoF loops u-u) also between them i have a safe DHC. Vishanti + Hail or Hail + Vishanti is safe.

The only bad thing is that Bolts can be punished , so i have to be careful when to call him

Thats what i can say about this team… i need to train with them much more to explore all posibilities

Someone who can give an opinion of my team? or tips? :o

from my brief experience, its an OK team at best. it all basically comes down to how you play magneto and storm. I think both are reasonably good at covering assists, but if you play mobile or want to rush down then you arent going to be grounded or have the correct positioning to cover the assist. While Bolts is a lockdown assist and both characters really benefit from a lockdown, it has mediocre startup and really bad recovery, not to mention Strange has a large hitbox that gets hit easily. Bolts also are easily crouched under and while this gives MS opportunities with the hi/lo mindgame, it also means that the assist is easier to punish bc it simply needs to be crouched under. I’m also not sold on Strange as an anchor because you have to count on the opponent messing up to get the hit, but hey I’m sure plenty of people make it work

I see two things.
–If you are looking for a safe lockdown assist in the anchor character there are two options that stand out. If you like to stay grounded and play conservatively so as to always cover the assist, I’d think that Sentinel is the no-brainer. But, if you are worried about calling assists safely and punishes, Rocket Racoon’s spitfire (twice) assist is actually a great lockdown assist bc he’s so damn small and has decent recovery (I think its especially great for magnus). If the opponent doesnt want to get hit they have to move to the air. At normal jump height this makes storm and magnus deadly because their air normals are way better than most of the cast and have access to special moves that hit at various angles as needed. If the opponent superjumps to avoid spitfire thats a bit more disadvantageous if you want to press, but it also prevents them from setting up. Plus, rocket racoon is a solid enough anchor that has OK matchups against the conventional anchors and a lot of peoples don’t know how to fight him. very safe dhcs. a storm or magnus that moves around the screen well with a RR trampoline super on the ground is a scary thought. Hit cornfirms are much simpler with spitfire than bolts (because of the way it hits, it can be really hard to get a combo going if you get a confirm off the first bolt and the second is yet to come out)
You could also go with the akuma hurricane kick lockdown assist, and I think thats been well enough displayed through the boards and various matches
–If you are looking for great dhc’s/combos (you mention dhc into faltine loops) and are ok with a pseudo lockdown assist…go with doom rocks. It makes neutral game way easier (learning to move with and around rocks is godlike) and you gain solid control of the ground. Doom is pretty safe as well. Storm/doom is a well established shell anyways. storm air throws into raw tag are enough to try the duo out. If you wanna be safe and comply with the norm (you would be choosing doom) theres always hidden missiles…

anyway overall I think its a viable team, but not a good one and I feel like you would need to adjust your gameplan just to fit in an assist that performs a task that other assists just do better. Unless youre loyal to strange (then by all means use what you love!) I think it might be better to keep searching.
