Wouldn’t it be funny though, if Sentinel could still do his post TAC Rocket Punch loops, after an up TAC? They’d be all damage boosted and ridiculous…

One of the best looking combo in the game…god I miss it.

I don’t hate the TAC’s as much tbh, I look at it as a built in reset type feature. Plus since they made it damage, meter gain, meter loss, for me its more about what I don’t want my opponent to get, if they need an extra bar to kill my current character then Im just gonna mash :d: :s: to avoid giving them that bar(take my bar for all I care), but if I really need the bar I currently have more than the character then I mash side n :s:, and people rarely go for the up exchange so I haven’t come up with any scenario where it would make more sense to go for that.

If all XFactor had the duration of XF1, this game would be so much better.
Just a short burst of a comeback mechanic to hopefully take out one character in God Mode, as it should be intended.

The problem with that would be a couple of strategies(like chip damage set-ups) would be lost since xf1 and 3 have the same length your opponent could just pop their xf 1 in response and not have to worry about getting chipped at all. Someone like hawkeye who really strikes off xfactor chip damage will suffer more than someone like wesker. I think the damage should get normalized but keep the duration of each level.

Hawk and Dormammu still do crazy chip without XF, XF just makes the chip derp. imo

Nah Sent 1.3 million health was having way too many issues and got counter matchups like She Hulk and Ammy found for him really early. Sentinel would still have to almost put the stick down if he’s anchor against Wesker. Dante turning on Devil Trigger is pretty much game over Sent also.

Wesker has that ease of use of Sentinel without the glaring issues like enormous hit box that’s susceptible to instant overhead mix ups, having no real rapid fire normal, no real cross up game, a sub par high low game, no way to stay in on advance guards without an assist, and just plenty of other issues that reduce him to a spray and pray (for much less result than Wesker XF spray and pray) in XF character.

The best parts about Sentinel are 2 things.

  1. Being played on point with 2 assists. This makes him a legit character you have to fear. Nobody wants to do this though cuz SENT DRONES!!!

  2. DRONES!!! Except when Sentinel actually has to fight he’s just way too figured out now and way too limited in abilities and mix up. Plus that glaring issue of super huge hit box in a game where you really don’t want to have a super huge hit box.

I don’t even see this as a problem in the grand scheme of things and it would benefit much more than take away. There are bigger changes in the balance from Vanilla to Ultimate for me even to consider this an issue.

You can still XF now to avoid chip setups. Always thought Akuma’s XF3 “DURRRIAAA” chip was silly but that’s just me.

Damage normalising doesn’t give it the derp factor that casuals want. I wouldn’t mind derping the death of one character compared with steam-rolling an entire team because of 20 Complete Global Saturation seconds.

X Factor Lvl 3 is still a beast. If it lasted the same as a Lvl 1 With the same buffs, that would be pretty fair. Maybe LvL2 XF Length even

The x-factor fix is what I, DevilJin, and a few other have been saying for many moons: X-factor should scale to the difference in team size. even team size should be level 1, down 1 should be level 2, and down 2 should be level 3, and it should scale down dynamically as you kill characters. Duration should be set when you activate it, but bonuses should scale down as you do make that comeback.

Yeah the real root of the problems in this game stem from XF. Its a stupid mechanic.

Capcom are adamant on keeping the mechanic in though and its something theyre just not gonna taken out. It looks like they want it to be broken too as the changes to XF from Vanilla to Ultimate havent really nerfed it at all.

I wouldnt even complain about wesker if it wasnt for XF. He’d still be good, but hes manageable outside of lvl 3 XF.

With that in mind you just have to accept XF for what it is. Capcom arent gonna change so we might aswell just use balance the game around buffs and nerfs to characters that are really just scapegoats for XF.

That’s probably the ideal solution, but I’m scared of the amount of coding required to do that by Capcom standards.
Otherwise I’m all up for it. What I proposed earlier is an alternative (lazy) way of dealing with it but will still result in a less derpy game than we have now.

I don’t deny sent even with 1.3 mill woulda been harder to play than wesker is now, but I think sent is a hard to play character by design. Sents offense is a lot more difficult to run than weskers offense since it relies on pressuring your opponent into doing what you want them to do(hitting a button against his amazing normals, or not hitting a button against his amazing throw range) but I think at a higher level of play sent woulda ended up being the better character. And honestly I think people overrate just how bad the ammy match-up was(now its actually bad, but still not as bad as people make it out to be imo), I honestly think it was a 5-5 against a good sentinel(emphasis on good) because like I said, it took forever for ammy to kill him, and if she used beads, it literally took forever for her to kill him(her most damage bead combo is 400k, yea good luck with that) while if sent landed a single hit it was game over for ammy.

I do agree that the over exposure he experience in the first month of the game really crippled him in the long run.

Oh of course, either of our suggestions would be an improvement over the current system, I just think as a competitive tool it would be more effective if it lasted longer than lvl 1 but did the same damage, because you see, reducing the damage technically also reduces the duration because your gonna have to do much longer combos to kill characters now and in some cases are gonna have to actually learn the x-factor exclusive combos as opposed to just ABCS ABCS ABCS. I always thought it was a shame that x-factor gave a lot of characters access to combos they weren’t able to perform regularly, but since it did so much damage there was no reason to learn said combos.

The other issue with Vanilla was that DHC glitch and XF3 was coming to bite his ass also. He was going to lose free on point to one touch into 1.3 million damage DHC glitch combo. On top of that as long as you hold onto your XF most of the good cast could do 1.3 million damage even in XF1.

Dante was basically a better Sentinel in Vanilla so it would just have never come to be really.

Yeah Sentinel got patched before DHC glitch was found, I think. His health was fine, he was going to be getting bodied even if they didn’t patch him. He’s supposed to be a tanky character anyway.

To be honest, most of the problems from vanilla aside from the character-specific ones are still very much intact in Ultimate.The big three systematic issues in vanilla that made it a joke were : too high damage, too much randomness, and XF being too great of a reward for losing the match. XF1 is noticably shorter but XF2 and XF3 are still retarded as fuck and capable of derping out an entire team, TAC actually got buffed to promote more randomness, and damage actually got increased across the board.

When you’re liking this game, its amazingly beautiful and creative. When you’re not liking this game, its the biggest piece of shit ever.

i didn’t do as good as i should have. i played my qualifying match at 11 am then played my top 16 match around 7pm with no rest or practice in between. the schedule was all over the place. top 16 was supposed to be streamed later in the day so i tried to go to sleep for a bit and i got the call to go play. it was my fault for not taking a nap or anything earlier but i had to watch my nigga moons and fab body people :D. I told everyone eduador was going to win because of how cheap he is. i knew justin or chris g wouldnt be able to overcome it by the end of the weekend. i mean come on, 1.2mil off a command grab?? sure thats fair. lol enough hating the tournament was great but top 8 was a little silly i cant lie, but ya have to understand that pools started really early for most players

Edit: Oh and teams were godlike. we sent the MD team to losers in the 2nd round and they made it through the gauntlet. last match last set too in gf
