All I can tell you is that not doing them in tournament isn’t going to get you any closer to being more consistent with them in tournament. Killing a character and not killing a character can be very crucial at times. And you said it yourself; the time you seen him not drop combos is the major that he won. Should he aim for something less?

Last but not least, keep in mind that the monitors at Next Level are pretty bad.

oh theyre fucked eh, like that in my area too shit is too high qual for marvel too much lag

that explains alot

wish we could use crt’s again, fuck plasma, lcd and all that garbs

Yeah, supposedly the monitors are one of the main reasons Yipes almost never participates at Big Two, even when he does show up.

To say that Dante players who still go for cold shower xx prop shredder lazy is not true at all, if that’s the case then even top level Dante players like Yipes and Jago(when he was still playing) would also be considered “lazy”. I can tell you first hand it is not because we are lazy, it’s because we want to make sure we get that hit confirm after a hammer or any kind of hard knock-down in general, some Dante players however do choose to go for volcano, but that is just their preference, not because they are less lazy than everybody else who uses Dante. in a high level match our minds just tend to auto pilot to cold shower xx prop shredder after a hard knock down, but it’s more of a subconscious reaction than “I’m to much of a scrub to do anything else”.

Besides that, it’s still not even a bad thing, yea it scales the hell out of your combos but any good Dante player knows that the character shines because he is one of the best battery characters in the game, the main point of playing Dante is to build meter, not to be killing off of a touch, that’s what having Vergil second on your team is for, or having any character that can ToD pretty much the entire cast off a single hit for that matter.

Also, in the case you have Frank West on your team, it would only make sense to go for cold shower xx prop shredder because you get more hits to level him up faster.

Yipes makes up for it by doing shot loops~

And having like… the best Dante in the world.

Yipes has Vergil extension and Vergil DHC anyways.

I already mentioned before we started talking about this thing that there are situations where it’s better to use that pick up. In the case of having Vergil second you wanna build meter and save your bounces so Vergil can finish them off. That is still an optimized combo and what you should be doing, I have no problem. Besides, you can still do the more damaging pickup and build almost the same amount of meter with one assist and some Clay Pigeon loops but you lose bounces. Working towards getting out the auto-pilot nature will only serve towards making your game better.

Frank West gets a free level 4 off anything Dante does so it’s not as important imo.

TOD Dante is boring any ways. He has so much potential to hit you with something again after his combos that you almost want to do it. LOL.

About the combo drop thing…Justin Wong dropped like 4 combos in a row against Joker with Wolvie after he ran out of XF (while Joker still had his with 2 characters) and still won the match. You just gotta stay clutch if your combo drops and hope be ready to mash on jab or throw if you’re in the air about to be thrown. Ideally you want to not drop combos, but more ideally you want to be a clutch enough of a player so that if you drop you still can keep momentum going.

There isn’t really a mechanical or random factor to dropping advanced combos. We aren’t machines. It’s not like it’s prescripted that if we do x combo we have y increased change of dropping it. If you feel confident doing optimal stuff, there’s not reason not to do it. It’s that fucking simple!!!

this!!! ^^^^

Dat clutch neutral.

Doing cold shower after hammer with vergil second isnt that bad of an idea.

BUT. Building 30-40% more bar and doing 200-300k more is better.

Yo, what the fuck? xD

Yeah mainly because there’s no real correlation at the highest level of play to dropping combos and not winning matches. Other players may lose matches because they drop combos but J.Wong will drop shit with impossible to drop characters like Wolverine after losing his XF and still win any way.

It’s interesting to see people like Marlin Pie lose matches to dropping combos, but J.Wong drops stuff multiple times and still wins any way. That’s with the game not being his main game either.

Ace loves the white boy. I think the actual quote is in the 1.0 vergil combo thread

I’m watching the salty suite archives and RayRay playing Viper/Magneto/Sentinel actually looks pretty good. What about Viper’s neutral makes her so tough again other than Seismo cancels?

That’s because justin plans all along to drop the combos

Just shitty normals and a slower air dash and no flight. Which really her normals are only shitty in range (minus c.M). They have really good frames on them. Which doesn’t really matter since there’s not much reason to go into the air with C.Viper unless you’re fighting one of the few point characters that can challenge your projectiles. You’re never really forced to use her normals or her air dash unless they can bypass your projectile game.

Which even then focus is really good at absorbing durpy one hit moves and then attacking with your normal instead. Funny to focus dash through foot dive and punish.

Not to mention the follow up after hard knockdown volcano is inconsistent AF versus smaller or larger characters

I remember a while back reading Mihe dogging some Dante player(I think it was PR ROG but dnt quote me) about the whole cold shower vs volcano bs… Then saw some random matches of him playing at some point after that and he was using the fuck out of cold shower. I SMH

Me being a point Dante player with Vajra… I think we have all went through the “volcano from hardknockdown for more damage” phase. Then when put to use in an actual match you realize shit drops more often than u benefiting from dat 150-200K from not dropping it.

Rayray plays a bunch of characters competently.

I played his Chun and Taskmaster and they’re both scary.
