Well you can still be confident in doing your combo as much as you want (and that’s why you’re performing it in the first place) but no matter what you do, each input and precision timing you make is subject to human error, and that risk is increased in a tournament situation. You could be sitting there in training mode doing that stuff 100%, but unless you’re a seasoned tournament player and you’ve practiced them to the point that you could probably do the combo blindfolded, there is always going the risk of dropping it. Not going for optimal stuff =/= laziness-- some people just take comfort in knowing that no matter what they do, they’ll finish their plate, as opposed to people going for max damage stuff all the time. Can’t fault a player for thinking that way especially if it gets him more wins over the guy that optimizes everything.
Joker lost a match to anchor Ammy during T13 because he did j.MMHS with Sentinel instead of his BnB, the j.H relaunch which would’ve given him the necessary meter to kill her.
Cases can be made for both sides of this argument. The great players are the versatile ones, I guess.
Yeah that’s true, when it all comes down to it, it’s still up to the player to assess the situation and work out the risk-reward ratio. I think that makes the distinction between a great player and either a scrub or some combo video monster.
And in that situation, I think that’s also an example of why you need to know your damage numbers. Even though the opponent’s health bar lies sometimes, it’s helpful to at least have a ballpark number or estimate of some sort so that you aren’t praying for a dead character at the end of your combo.
people still go for cold shower xx prop shredder because it is much easier to hit confirm, especially when so many things are on screen and going through your mind.
I was going to touch on this but yeah this is very true. If have a combo which does 820,000 for one bar where I’m only getting the extra 20k if I do the “hard link” at the end, I’m probably not going to do it unless I’m hitting the 850k benchmark. Then again this is Marvel 3, were not exactly doing consecutive 1 frame links and FRCs here.
Sooner or later people gonna have to have this stuff ready to pull out when the game evolves. Versatility is good and you don’t wanna be losing just because you didn’t do the ‘right’ combo, or have it in you repertoire because of lack of practice. The right combo also includes easier combos which aren’t optimal.
Laziness. How hard is it to do a srk motion and a button after a hard knockdown? Holy shit I wonder how people survived in other games where people be confirming off a single normal and shit.
You remind of all the people that said Dorm’s Dark matter combo was hard and impractical, then I actually tried it myself and found out that that was all bs. Like when Zak Bennett went to FGTV and started to fuck people up. At that time Filipino Champ had dog shit for for Dormammu combos, and after witnessing all that he decided to step his shit up and became a better Dormammu for it.
At Bar Battles, Wong perfected FChamp with Iron Fist, Storm, Akuma.
Even if you don’t count Texas Showdown, Vergil has won CEO, Summer Jam, and now Canada Cup. If you count Texas Showdown and ARK (which you shouldn’t), that makes five.
People need to grind stuff out, no excuse to never go for max damage unless it gives you a better mixup. If people can get GG and MB shit down to the point of not dropping iy in high pressure situations no reason not to for this game.
Wait so who won CEO I can’t remember that far back LOL.
It wasn’t Flocker…was it?
Justin won with Spencer,Vergil,Frank.
It really comes down to making sure you are confident in the neutral because that’s all you got after your combo drops.
This may have been asked already but w/e. If I subscribe to the main station do I get access to archives to the other channels as well?
Yes. I believe so. Search the stream description to be 100% sure.
I agree with you but I actually feel like Dante is Bee’s best character and is the main assist that is used to level up Frank.
you would like to think that srk and a button is just as easy as one direction and a button. hitting this in training mode is different than hitting this against a competent opponent.
fyi, i never said that hammer into dp move isn’t practical. most people don’t practice this combo with random guard on, which is most likely the reason why people still go for cold shower xx prop shredder.
as for comparing this to single hit confirm normals from other games; people don’t hit confirm 100% in other games off a single hit, especially when they aren’t fishing for a hit but to mainly throw it out for spacing/pressure/footsie purposes. with dante’s jumping s/hammer, the hard knockdown gives him enough time to confirm even if hes not fishing for it to hit.
yet you remind me of all the people that hound on fanatiq because he still uses simple fly combos. when all you have over your opponent are “superior” combos that gets dropped more than 50% of the time, the last thing i would worry about are combos.
Nah, it’s really easy man. You have like 25 years to confirm, you don’t even need to practice in training mode lmao. You must think people are slow or something. No wonder they put so much ground bounce moves in this game.
I know they don’t, however if people can regularly cr.MK xx SA2, then how hard can it be to confirm after damn Hammer?
So, laziness then?
lol at “gets dropped more than 50% of the time”. Execution in this game is easy for the most part, I ain’t talking about no silly combo videos here, I’m talking optimization. Fanatiq’s shit is pretty optimized and that dude does hit confirms that would make Dante players cry if they find it so impossible to Volcano after Hammer/j.S. I don’t see how trying make sure every part of your game is up to scratch makes you weak.
