my thoughts:

while the tac infinites benefit all point characters because magneto disruptor and sentinel drones also are good assists, the main benefit here is TODing off of a “guess” (i’ll leave my opinions on the tac mechanic itself out of this). i think this benefits “low damage” characters quite a bit.
and so, firebrand, strider, wesker, storm, 4 characters that have good ways of opening people up but have a limitation when it comes to killing, now have a way to TOD when being paired up with strong assist characters. (it also wastes mad time off the clock, and builds good meter. those are other strong aspects of infinite combos, even if they don’t kill very fast)

hopefully i’d like to see a rise in play of these types of characters in these teams tbh. no one played chun for the infinite, but these newer infinites are coming with respectable characters.

Nope, Jigglypuff.

Who woulda thought that the worst character in the game would be one that inflicts damage to itself

Goddammit. For once I was excited that Iron Man would actually be able to take advantage of the retarded shit in this game.

I’m really digging how all the new tech in this game makes it worse and less fun to play. Good shit Capcom!

Like I’ve been saying…you really should have stopped playing the game 1st month into Vanilla after you realized TAC’s gave you guess into more damage and OS throws were good. If you don’t like TAC’s and OS throws why were you playing the game for more than one month? Did people actually not think this was going to happen? I dunno…

The guy winning Evo will be the guy making the best decisions regardless just like any other fighter.

melee still full of scruuuuuuuuubs who rush in and don’t care enough about playing lame except the top 7ish players

TACs are an awful mechanic and now there is an extremely viable exploit, which i am sad about, but hopefully it makes more characters viable instead of limiting the cast

true. I hope someone goes in the lab w/ phoenix to try it out.

I knew Smash was a pot monster heaven. Shame I never got good at it.

If you didn’t like this verison of MVC3. You probably didn’t like Vanilla MVC3. I don’t know people who don’t like Vanilla SF4 will like SF4.

IMO no patch will fix anybody beef with a game. Let’s face it won’t the general problems in the game.

Which basically is a fairer DHC glitch that requires more execution. Better benefit, but a bit more risk to apply. For UMVC3, that’s pretty good and will only make the lower cast stronger really.

I’m almost positive it will limit the cast even more.

it’s fairer than DHC glitch because DHC glitch was a straight combo but TAC is a force-fed reset in the blandest way possible, the metagame of choosing directions isn’t as ideal when the direction you want to choose is the one your opponent won’t counter because 2 or all 3 lead to kills, instead of having an alternative motive of choosing as they wanted to design it.

Uh, because I like the game? You seem to correlate complaining with not liking a game, which is simply not the case. As long as I am knowledgeably discussing the game there is no reason to assume I don’t like playing it. You seem to have adopted a very overbearing attitude about this game lately. I see the logic and reasoning behind what your view is, but it’s becoming slightly redundant. It has come to a point where you post 7-8 paragraph post that basically say nothing. Your blind adoption of your single belief has really caused a lot of oversight. You have predicated, predictable, and almost robotic response to most objections to anything.

I find this game extremely fun to play and fun to compete in, but I strongly disagree with its mechanics and the game designers decisions. This new TAC infinite is a perfect example of how solid mechanics can avoid broken things. In such a free game like this, programming oversights etc. are completely expected, but some things can be avoided by smartly constructing the blue prints for a game.

If it allows X-23 to 300 percent any team that doesn’t have Sentinel on it…it’s definitely the contrary.

Well when people say the same things I’m just gonna say the same things back. It’s expected. I’m not Capcom I can’t change the game for you. You just have to play it and that’s it.

All the TAC infinite stuff really shows is that you guys don’t give a shit about Chun Li and that UMVC3’s HSD system isn’t really that good. Other than that…you guys are whining about the same stuff as before so I’ll say the same stuff back.

There’s no whining until something comes up in a video that people won’t even optimize for tournaments and still win Evo with the basics. I’m just saying where is all of this commotion every day instead of just waiting for a video to pop up first? Meh.

Next week we’ll be back to discussing shit as normal so I’m just kinda already over the whole thing. Game isn’t really much different because of this as this type of result from getting hit has been prominent for a while.

I’m really in the same boat as you where I love playing this game and think it has a great roster but I fucking hate TAC and all the silly shit in this game and this new glitch is just going to make it even worse. I’ve been complaining about this kind of thing a lot lately because at its core I like Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and I think that this new tech will make the game a worse one to play, not a better one. That’s really why it upsets me. Outside silly stuff like Vergil Spiral Swords and Zero LL and now this the game is solid and pretty balanced. It bugs me when stuff pops up like this that is going to affect the balance.

Its pretty much in its infancy so I don’t know what its going to do with the metagame but any sort of tech that limits the pool of viable characters is a bad one anymore, especially when its based on the game’s dumbest mechanic. But as DevilJin stated it might make lower tier characters more viable, in which case I would still think its extremely stupid. No character should be able to do this.

This seems like it has the potential to shift the metagame in a way that makes the game a lot less fun and interesting to play because it will

someone fight these dudes and infinite the shit out of them, please

In all honesty, I think it may take awhile for this to become relevant. Hell, it may NEVER become relevant. You have teams that can easily TOD you like Zero, Vergil, and Spencer based teams, and you have teams like MorriDoom who rarely get hit. It’s tech that may or may not become dominant. The fact that it even exist is enough to irk me, however.

Now everybody gets to guess for a chance to be Zero…really that only helps the tiers so can’t complain there. May not help the overall game for everybody, but trade offs are trade offs in this type of game. People who talk about the game more than play it will complain, the players will still play it. Long as you play it there’s no reason to dwell on this shit for long periods of time. You know what you’re getting into and it’s obvious that in this new age of Capcom it’ll be the first thing Niitsuma attacks if he ever does patch the game.

Until then…play the game and utilize the tools like you have been.

A lot of people here aren’t even whining. They’re discussing a legitimate problem in game design. It’s fairly obvious something is wrong here. Whatever sense of nostalgia for “THE OLD GAMES” you have seems to be blurring you comprehension. You have to acknowledge at some point that game design SHOULD be advancing, and Marvel is a step backwards as far as I’m concerned. It’s relevant and important discussion to bring up how game design is affecting the tiers and metagame of this game.
