dante’s still a really good bully character, but he is @$$ compared to his vanilla counterpart. he now needs bold canceling to do damage, he doesn’t build as much meter, some of his attacks push the opponent too far away to continue the combo, etc.

Beam assists are no brainers, same with coldstar. Drones are kind of meh, since he can’t protect that huge fatass sitting there for 30 seconds shooting missiles. Vajira helps with some of his anti air issues, but he has trouble comboing out of it… extremely situational. I’ve been playing around with hidden missiles assist, which in conjunction with mystic ray spam on point, it provides a nice barrier. If they get too close you can standing h to create some room, or use his hyper mystic smash which is invincible during certain frames and pushes them to the other side of the screen. Some characters can blow this strategy the fuck up though since mystic ray has such long startup, and doom is out there for a while.

Right now, I’m trying to learn Shuma+doom ammy shell.
Shuma/doom (beam to help him get in)/ and ammy for mixups and incase he dies, doom gets a respectable assist+doom ammy THC

I like missiles for Shuma too, it covers the air and locks them down a bit. The thing is, they can just SJ up-back and fuck you over, and if they can fly away you might as well saved the missiles assist for another time when you need it because it’s just too slow to come out. Shuma needs an opening or else he can’t do shit. Missiles would be great for Shuma (and way too strong) if it didn’t come out with a warning sign on it. For up-back holders I’d say try to SJ up+H then mystic smash H to get em to the ground but that just sounds like it will work, haven’t tried it yet.

Wesker assist has shown me it’s my friend in certain situations such as when we’re both grounded and can make them block a TK smash. Wesker will shoot em in the fucking foot. I also like cold star and Dante’s weasel shot for Shuma, both a good lockdown assists compared to the rest in the game. Can’t seem to find any other good ones though. There’s gotta be something shuma can get that will help him put out the extra mile.

And I wanted to say yesterday that Shuma’s gameplan involving mystic smash shouldn’t be autopilot; Shuma just isn’t that good. Against projectile teams you actually have to SJ to avoid them fuckers and smash them on the way down. This is simple, but isn’t that easy (which is what I should have said before) but it’s still do-able. Dorm can fuck shuma up though.

Shuma is too trash for that to be viable, although the prospect of free TAC’s is cute, I’ll have to use that as a sub team!!!

That doesn’t work anymore… tac glitch removed. The whole mystic smash autopilot thing just doesn’t work. It’s a weak approach tool because it’s so easy to blow up. If I ever a get a capture card, first 2 priorities: Make a video showing how easy it is to blow up mystic ray assist and how to punish mystic smash 1 2 skadoo.

They were doing the viscant dante special. Standing h into million dollars. Bold cancels are impractical as hell.

Okay good to know, thanks for correcting me. As for the rest, trust me I’m not disagreeing, I spent about a month after shuma release trying my hardest to find anything to make him viable, but yeah mystic smash is easily beaten and the assist just isn’t strong enough to merit how bad he is on point, and this is from someone who plays Iron Man. I do love me some Shuma though.
