I can see a team like Shuma(Mystic Ray)/Doom(missiles)/ X-23(Whatever) being pretty good.
You land 1 hit with Shuma, get a guaranteed TAC with mystic stare, build 5 bars, kill the first character. Tag in X-23, call shuma, dirt nap, x-factor, kill, repeat, win.
1 hit you win. Granted, it’s pretty specialized and Zero can probably accomplish the same thing more effectively, but I can see it being pretty annoying.
Meh I also believe Vergil is heavily overrated. for me its looking like
- Zero
- Magneto (hes like… the most used point character right now…)
- Dante (I’d say Vergil and Dante could be interchanged, but I like Dante more)
- Vergil
- Wesker/Dormamu (can’t decide :/)
And yeah i know you guys are saying that Wesker is complete trash etc. etc. but point Wesker is SOOO scary. Like I don’t even know, his teleports are just so damn good and his normals are also so good. Chou shows that and I play a guy who puts point wesker with a beam assist and god that shit is scary
Also at one point I did believe Viper was top 5, but I don’t know in theoryland she would be, which I know how this thread works, but this list is merely my opinion so yeah.

I’m pretty sure they removed all the guaranteed TACs…
If not, I’d be using Shuma. :wgrin:
they removed the mystic stare tac glitch =/
Beam assists are no brainers, same with coldstar. Drones are kind of meh, since he can’t protect that huge fatass sitting there for 30 seconds shooting missiles. Vajira helps with some of his anti air issues, but he has trouble comboing out of it… extremely situational. I’ve been playing around with hidden missiles assist, which in conjunction with mystic ray spam on point, it provides a nice barrier. If they get too close you can standing h to create some room, or use his hyper mystic smash which is invincible during certain frames and pushes them to the other side of the screen. Some characters can blow this strategy the fuck up though since mystic ray has such long startup, and doom is out there for a while.
Right now, I’m trying to learn Shuma+doom ammy shell.
Shuma/doom (beam to help him get in)/ and ammy for mixups and incase he dies, doom gets a respectable assist+doom ammy THC
I get rolled by a Shuma/Dorm/Taskmaster team fairly regularly. Most of it is simply me forgetting to adjust combos to Shuma’s whack ass hurt box, but horizontal aim master covers him fairly well, and Dark Hole keeps you cornered extremely well if he gets you there, and allows easy ass full conversions from air or ground throws for him. Shuma is free as fuck if I win the opening gambit, but if I don’t, I’m cornered and Shuma has very good corner pressure. Of course, Shuma doesn’t seem to have terribly much in the way of welcome mix ups past Chaos Dimension though, so my second character at least has a chance to get through and play. If Mystic Ray did better chip damage I think he’d actually be legitimately good, it’s very hard to work your way in vs MR+Assist, and you can’t call assists against it unless it’s something like Disruptor, because MR will interrupt it, and it can infinitely OTG the assist.
Honestly, I think he’s probably actually around mid, but not worth the effort unless you really like the character.
If Vergil is not top 5 for you…I know a doctor.

I don’t understand this thread ever. Mags/Dante over Vergil? Ducktales.

I was messing around with Champ’s team yesterday. The team is even more disgusting than I thought. Just talking about combos:
Off any clean hit.
- Magneto [j.:h: > cr.:l:]: 1Million Damage (with guaranteed Chaotic Flame DHC, 850k with only Tempest) and builds 2 Bars
- Dormammu [j.:s: > cr.:l: corner]: 880k Damage and Builds 1.6 Bars. 910k with 1 Spell of Destruction at the start, builds 1.8 bars.
- Doom [j.:f::h: > cr.:l: > cr.:h:]: 1Million Damage and builds 2 Bars (no DHC).
Note: I need to learn better Dormammu combos.
Apart from that they all have Lv.3s they can use at the very end of their combos, they can all combo solo from their grabs, and have amazing TACs (not even counting that they all have TAC infinites). Damn.
They’re both way more versatile, and they both diversify your team more. Not saying I exactly think they’re better, but I don’t think they’re worse necessarily.

You don’t even need to fucking know what your doing to hate a threatening Vergil. If Zero wasn’t in this game he would be the uncontested best. Hell I wouldn’t be mad if someone said he was the best.
Oh I agree with that, but the skill required to have a threatening character doesn’t determine how good it is.
that sound about right since metro city is a ghetto
people have their own opinions on who’s the better character. Vergil does have some oppressive cheap stuff, and I did at one point believe he was top 2 behind Zero, but I’m just seeing more and more things that make me believe that Magneto and Dante could be better. I feel that Vergil is starting to get a bit more predictable. Characters like Dante and Magneto, I feel have an easier time opening people up because of their speed and unpredictability. They are also not as meter-dependent. I just find a good Magneto so much scarier than a good Vergil
I also use Dante, Vergil, and Magneto and I just feel so much more at ease when im using Magneto than Vergil because I feel I have a lot more options with him. but iono just my two cents.
I think Mags is better than Vergil. My top 5 keeps keeps shifting though.
Vergil is Mid Tier. Honzo Gonzo has spoken.

Hmmm—this is news to me why is he considered ass now? I know hes no Vergil but damn I know hes better than most of the cast.
dante’s still a really good bully character, but he is @$$ compared to his vanilla counterpart. he now needs bold canceling to do damage, he doesn’t build as much meter, some of his attacks push the opponent too far away to continue the combo, etc.
