[details=Spoiler] Really its all up to preference. If you like crazy, zany, wild bullshit, play Marvel. You like a footsies based game, play SFxT. You like a median of them both, play SF4. They are all pretty even ATM. MAYBE SFxT topping them both because it is overall more solid than the both.
I came from a Marvel/broken ass games background, so naturally, I like Marvel and will probably always like the VS. series games, no matter how ass they are. I will admit Marvel 3 is not a good game and shouldn’t be considered as a good game.
SFxT is not that bad. Its solid IMO. Footsies are HUGE. Getting 35% for whiff punishing and no bar is amazing. ST had shit like that. But SFxT is glitchy as hell. Its like a more bland Alpha game.
SF4 is overrated IMO. Its faster paced than SFxT and admittingly less bland than SFxT, but you don’t need good footsies to win like in any of the street fighters that I remember. You can play good footsies, but they ultimately don’t lead to that good of damage like in SFxT, because you can’t cancel into ultra and super meter is used mostly for EX (plus the damage is low as fuck). SF4 has unblockables which is retarded. I don’t remember a street fighter game having unblockables (correct me if Im wrong). I think the game is ass and overrated.
I will say that SF4 is more solid than Marvel 3, as Marvel 3 can be unstable also and SF4 makes a bit more sense than Marvel does at times. But even so, its a versus game. Versus game are EXTREMELY unstable usually. The least unstable one is TVC, followed by (gasp) UMVC3, which we all know is still unstable as fuck. If you expect a versus game to be solid, you got the wrong series.
The reason I like Abel so much is because for playing good footsies, you get some solid damage (for this game, solid is like 25% smh). He is truly a street fighter character IMO. Same for Balrog (although needs EX meter to do so). I can’t name many character that gets alot from good footsies. If you can name them, I’ll be happier with the game and stop giving it so much shit.[/details]

People seem to love GG tho so who knows. I never played it that much because I wasn’t really THAT into video games when I was younger. I’m buy it whenever im not broke though. When 3SO came out there was tourneys for it for around 3 months. Persona came out 3 months ago and has been steadily getting smaller since week one but there is still a lot of tourneys for it. So basically I think if TO’s start putting GG on the roster and people enter than it is possibly.

I feel ya. Local tourney scene is non-existent, and surrounding tourney scenes are getting smaller and smaller.
I will have to disagree with you on the SF4 part normally the player with the better footsies will win majority of the time and a lot of characters can lead into big damage from there footsies and good reads. A lot of characters can combo into there ultra for example Guy, Sakura, Ryu, Ken, Gouken, and much more and meter isn’t just used for EX either a lot of players use meter for set up, safe jumps, OS etc.
