I agree 13 doesn’t need to be 98, I said that at the end of the part you quoted. I think 13 is still a solid game though, but I agree with you said. That KOF 13 would be pretty awesome. I kind of like Laban’s way of thinking about it. Get rid of HD, but adding another drive cancel bar would be cool.

Wouldn’t DPing a hop be more advanced? I mean, hops are pretty fast and low to the ground (I think) so reacting with 623+ATK seems harder than just pressing ATK. Also not sure how well you can convert off AA normals but if you couldnt, wouldnt a DP do more damage than a normal?

I see where you’re coming from, but the reason most people don’t DP a hop is because there is higher chance that you will eat their jump in for trying to react with a DP instead of a normal. It’s not unheard of though in the older KOFs, it’s just a rarer occurrence.

Your opponent would land before you could react with a DP if they empty hopped, then it’s punishment time. Or maybe that was a hyper hop, I dunno.
It’d be a good option on prediction… but if you can predict their hops, then you’ve already won.

So, I had 3 PCs to set up today. 8 hours shift, minus two for a management meeting, and 1 of them is good to go. I am working with Pentium 4 era Celerons and 1 gig of RAM *at most *with these boxes. At the rate this is going it would have been cheaper for my boss to buy new shit than pay me to make old shit go.
Despite what people want to say about X-factor and Team Air combos, timer based hit stun decay is the single largest design flaw the game has. It’s why you get so long to hit confirm single hits as opposed to other games, it’s why we have to have a TAC mechanic that ignores the system in the first place. I dislike hit stun pro-ration as well, but at least that’s actually based on what moves are used in the combo.
He does give everyone a lot of trouble with his pokes, but not as much as a character like Tager. For example if Hakumen whiffs a 4C and I’m using Tsubaki I can IAD, 236D or dash up in his face and possibly punish him. If I’m Tager I don’t have that luxury unfortunately and he gets to continue sitting there building meter while waving his big ass stick in my face from 50 feet away.

The DP won’t get stuffed, but you have to consider how quick hops are in KOF. Buffering a motion with no back inputs leaves you vulnerable, so even though you may get more damage, you might also screw up and eat the jump-in. Not only that, they could hop intentionally short and make your DP whiff.
