It’s much easier to go VDO and play a non-top tier team and have some success in Marvel 3 than it was in Marvel 2. Everyone has something that can be exploited, and it’s rare when the system limits what you can do. But that doesn’t mean that playing lower tier teams isn’t unnecessarily difficult sometimes. (Playing Task/Dorm/Doom is much easier for me than Dorm/Iron Man/Doom or Thor/Task/Doom, for example.)
That’s why Vergil second or Dorm second teams are so strong because if you let them fall to the ground with meters…you basically have to fight the next boss.
My team is typical Masta CJ setup where the main goal if you aren’t beasting with your point is to amount a comeback with the anchor. I really just want to keep my point alive stocked with 2 powerful neutral assists. Its just I’m trading a better point character 2nd for a worse point with a better assist while still having strong anchor capabilities.
I’m thinking about doing some shit like finding ways to raw tag in Strider for some matchups. If I have meter ill probably just dhc.

New PS3s are out.

I can still find ranked matches in BBCT
Guess I should start recording this Dante/Vergil/Iron Man stuff. Haven’t updated my channel in a while sighs
I wish I was a tier whore. Every character I started off playing in a fighting game with the rare exception of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and CVS2 has been mid tier or lower.
Marvel 3: Captain America/Nemesis/Hawkeye, mid/low/mid
Marvel 2: Juggernaut/BBHood/Capcom, mid/mid/mid
3S: Alex, midtier
SF4: Honda/Vega, midtier/midtier
SFxT: Law/King, Mid/Mid
SC5: Siegfried, mid
KOFXIII: Ralf/Maxima/Takuma, Low/Mid/Mid
SkullGirls: Peacock, mid
CVS2: Vega/Sagat/Blanka, high/top/top
TTT2: Feng/Dragunov, high/high
I have a knack for picking average to bad characters XD

I feel ya. I’ve never had success with tier whoring because the top tier characters are almost always character I just flat out don’t like. Even if they are better characters, I don’t have passion for them so it never gets me anywhere to pick them.
I say this as I’m in practice mode with Mai in KOFXIII.
Just got done with an interview. About 5 minutes into it, “Alright, let me stop you right there. I’ll be honest. I like you. Ya know, in a ‘no homo’ sort of way. You seem to have your head on straight and you don’t seem like a serial killer. Come in tomorrow for orientation.”
Well, that went well.
I play Zero/Dante/Strider (former Zero/RR/Task). I have a Tron team on the side too.
I agree with playing who you like, but you can’t be stupid with it either. If your favorite character is low tier, take him and build a fantastic team around him/her/it. Thing about Marvel is that you’ve gotta be as cheap as possible for the best results. You don’t necessarily have to pick an all top-tier team to do that, you just need lots of synergy. That said, tiers are there for a reason, and certain characters are better at being dispensers of salt than others.
One thing that sticks out in my mind is when they did that FGTV vs. Japan thing, and Yipes mentioned that Dieminion was a solid player, but his team wasn’t cheap enough. Characters matter.

I swear I’ve attempted 20+ TACs today to go for infinites, and ALL of them were fucking countered…
Didn’t know people were so good at Rock Paper Scissors on here.

Fighting games themselves are more or less a game of rock paper scissors (the character select screen) that leads into a game of rock paper scissor decisions that must be made in split seconds (this attack beats that but is vulnerable to this, this move counters physical but is vulnerable to throws, etc.)
That said, when I TAC, I just mash all the directions and S simultaneously. That shit can’t be predicted unless you are fighting a Phoenix team.
This is the main main reason why they’re overrated. There hasn’t been a game since Killer Instinct 1 that give you the privilege to escape a TOD combo without spending a resource. Sometimes you’re just going to get countered. It would help to learn the TAC trick tech if your character can do it…but being able to escape your death is still extremely significant in a game like Marvel.
Look like a god when it works…look like an idiot when its countered or you drop the combo and end up getting hit.

Pretty sweet gig. “No Serial Killers please. Those convicted of man slaughter my be considered” and foolish people serial killers never look like serial killers that’s how they get away with all the murder.

I love my new title in P4A
Hentai Warrior sweet
I wanted to make a title with Yukiko’s name in it but I don’t have Yukiko’s title yet so when I get tired of this one I might make God’s Hentai Warrior or Mitsuru Hentai sweet but I really want Yukiko’s title

The move the character does changes depending on which direction they TAC
One more reason why I’m a happy Zero player. Only way you don’t die is if I drop the combo.

Doesn’t really matter online, though. I only have average reaction time, plus online lag… yeah, shit ain’t happening.
Yeah point Zero is scarier than most all of the TAC infinite centric teams because if I get hit I basically have to put the stick down and pray you drop the combo. With a TAC I can still technically play. Which even if you do guess right they’re more execution heavy than dhc glitches were and people will drop them.

It can be predicted. Most teams either have certain DHC setups, or require meter / want to take meter off you, and you can factor in whether or not they’re trying to trick you or not and make relatively good predictions.
Feel up for some PSN Marvel?
Nah, I don’t really mess with this game online lol.
