Fuck I need to play the Samurai Showdown series someday.
The game play is like 100% Street Fighter footsies+SNK movement+Big base damage.
It’s rare for a series to emphasis getting big damage on a correct read over big damage in a combo. It’s really clever that SNK made a mechanic that punishes you for throwing out pokes nonstop, but rewards you for countering hit people at the right time. I think the game is suppose to have comeback mechanics, but still completely based on you hitting your oppotent in one shot.
The games are fun… I’m just ass at 'em
So better guessing more damage? How is it SF footsies if it punishes poking?

Sometimes I forgo doing Doom’s Time when I do Photon Array -> Finishing Shower -> Magnetic Tempest. So much fun

Yeah off a whiff punish,counterhit damage,etc.
sword gauge works by forcing people to stop whiffing their pokes, and focus more on pressing buttons on correct times. Like how a Good Dhalism will not randomly whiff pokes, and will accurately hit you. The game will just reduce damage of your pokes/combo if you attack nonstop through. You regain back by jumping/walking except by dashing. Footsies abuses walking over dashing, and baiting your oppotent’s pokes with your own pokes.
Top Left: Person: Hey doctor, I want to be a man.

Top Right: Person: Well, I’ve done it before so can I do it again?
