GGPO MvC1 community is funny. You get scrubs and vets who talk shit all the time. Occasionally a few of them come into the VSav room and talk shit on that game too. Someone gives them a good whupping and then they start whining (I played some BB Hood who just dashed back and forth the entire match and fired off random missiles. I got a Gong reflect kill of ES Missiles on him. He didn’t say anything. I couldn’t help but laugh). MvC1 players are crazy.

I like to think that they go mad because some of them couldn’t believe how that game actually is, because it didn’t get as popular as MvC2 in terms of how it really is. There’s some busted stuff in that game and some say “stop playing like this you noob” or something like that, it makes me laugh because a big part of them play those games really bad .

How’s the online of that game btw?

Yeah, you pretty much find out how busted MvC1 is the hard way. Since there isn’t a ton of high-level footage out there (or at the very least it isn’t popular), most casuals aren’t that aware of how the game really works.

GGPO’s flawless BTW, provided you don’t play someone with extremely high ping. I set my latency to 0, and generally any ping that’s >200 plays just like offline. More people really need to try GGPO, it’s a great way to get some comp.

Not gonna lie the first time I got to watch a MvC2 high level match was in that money match with Sanford against Neo G and a bunch of others (I think it was 10000 bucks or more), when I saw what I saw in that video it blew my mind seeing how good Sentinel was and how some ofthe stuff in that game was ridiculous… up until that time I thought it was “balanced” and stuff but now things have changed to me upon my discovery of the term “broken” .

Also I believe you meant “generally any ping that isn’t >200 plays just like offline.”… but even then, that much ping and it still feels like offline play? That sounds pretty good.

Yeah, and the thing about MvC1 is that it’s a game you can lose at the character select screen. I used to run Megaman/Venom, but recently I dropped Venom for GWM. Having a Rush Drill/War Destroyer duo to chip people to death is amazing, as well as GWM being a direct counter to certain characters. I remember there being a time where I thought that this game was somehow less busted than MvC2, but the more I played it, the more I realized how wrong I was.

And yeah, I meant anything below 200 ping plays like offline. I’m hoping that MvC1 Origins plays this well when it transitions to consoles, but we’ll see.
